I'm kind of stealing this from a thread in the TV forum.

I post a game. You post your opinion of said game.

First up, we have an extremely divisive game:

Discuss!

P.S. Try to post something a little bit more substantial than "I like it." or "It sucks."

Personally, I loved it. I mean, it's my least favourite of the four but it's still Metal Gear, y'know?

I was hooked on MGS from the moment i played it and when i heard about MGS2 i went nuts. I purchased Zone of the Enders so i could get the demo for MGS2. When i finally did play the full game, it was everything i thought it was going to be, but then the Tanker section ended and i was thrust into the shoes of Raiden. Now i didn't have a problem with Raiden, i thought he was pretty cool, but the ENTIRE time I'm controlling him i kept wondering when i was going to take control of Snake again. Especially when Snake showed up as Pliskin. But overall the game was just like the one before it, a mind bending, cinematic tour de force. I loved it. I only played through that game once and that was when it released. I just started another play through now that the game has come out in HD. Like Wesley, id put it 4th on the list, but the Metal Gear series is so above and beyond most, thats still high praise.

Well said.

My personal take is that MGS2 is my favorite. Purely as a game, I think it's the best out of all of them (though Snake Eater comes close), but what really puts it over the top for me is the story. I mean The Patriots and Big Shell and information control is cool and all, but what I'm talking about is this wildly ambitious meta layer of storytelling going on that no other game I've played even approaches.

My least favorite of the series, though I didn't hate the switch they pulled with Raiden. At the time it came out, I preferred the first game over it and as each new game came out, it got pushed further and further down my list. I think it's the story that loses me. It just feels so poorly constructed when compared to the others in the series.

Never played it. Only MGS game I've played was the first 5 min or so of Twin Snakes.

I had so much fun with MGS2 back in the day, I literally had the whole game memorized, you name it, I had it, headband that provided infinite ammo, stealth suit, the whole nine. MGS was great, and then MGS2 came along and totally blew me away. My pops didn't really start playing video games until he saw me play through MGS2 and even then, he was pretty shocked to see that amount of quality from a video game. I wasn't really that fond of Raiden, but over the course of the tanker section, his character grew onto me. MGS2 definitely made it's mark in videogames

An amazing game that is often disliked for a single stupid reason (I really don't care what anyone says, I think 95% of the hate the game receives would've been completely absent if you played as Snake). It still remains an experience that's almost completely unmatched, even if it's been surpassed on a technical level.

Yea i agree. I think if you remove the Raiden switch, people will talk about this game like they do any other MGS. With MGS2, as soon as you mention it, you kinda brace yourself for that venomous response of how much it sucked. That doesn't really happen with the other games in the series.

I love MGS 2. Raiden is kinda lame, but it didn't change the fact that the game was awesome.

You should really get the HD collection and at least play Snake Eater. It's a pretty standalone (and excellent) game that you can enjoy without any wider knowledge of the series.

never played it either. So how do we move on to other content? Is it just you posting new media?

I figured I would post a new game every day. But that's not set in stone. It depends how much or how little people are discussing the game.

MGS2 is my favorite of the series.

MGS2 is kinda like the Temple of Doom from the Indiana Jones' series of movies. Most people will tell you their favorite is Raiders but there's that small bunch that found ToD to be the best of the three. Yes, I said three, cause I despise Skull.

As for me, I looked forward to the release of MGS2 and I loved it. Not my favorite of the MGS series but it ranks pretty high on my list of 'must own' games.

I really like this thread idea, even if it is borrowed. Looking forward to more game posts! :woot:

My fav Dr Jones film was Crusaders. Yep. Good analogy tho.

I agree tho, I think MGS2 is a must own, it might be my least fav of the 4 but that's because the other 3 are so damn good. The whole series should be in ones collection. Iv got 3 copies of MGS and 2 copies of the rest of em. Can't say that about any other games in my collection

Alright, NEW GAME.

I'm warning you, it's kind of a weird one...

LOL!

Now that is odd. I remember hearing soooo much about that game. I never did get the chance to play it though. Just what was its premise?

I heard this is Tom Cruise's favorite game.

I never played it, saw a little bit of coverage on it back in the day, but didn't really know what to make of it. Might have to check out some videos of it in action on youtube

There wasn't really a story or anything. You just had this virtual aquarium with these little fish things with human faces. You would take care of them and talk to them through the microphone, teaching them to speak and whatnot. Eventually they would become larger fishmen and they would talk back to you. They would also grow into frogmen. I think Leonard Nimoy voiced them if I'm not mistaken. It was just a super weird bizarre game.

My microphone didn't work though, so I never got to talk to my seaman.
