For those that don't know, in the original Phoenix saga, Jean, as Dark Phoenix, returns to her home in the issue before the issue where she kills herself.

She goes back home, unsure of why she is there...eventually her parents and sister greet her, and at first she feels good, but her telepathy picks up on their worries and fears, and it upsets her...she says they have good reason to fear her because what she can do to this plant, she can just as easily do to them(she telekinetically transformed a plant into crystal)...her father shouts at her and casts her out...Jean is conflcted...inside she calls out for her father, but outwardly she lashes out.

Eventually she is distracted by the fog outside(Storm's doing), goes out to see what's going on, and the other X-Men ambush her to try to attach a mind scrambler device(Beast's design) to cut her power and reason with her.

I remember that from the animated series...though for the movie I might have thought she went to her house for another reason. I love the X-men TAS
