Well, I'm a woman, and even for us, getting scraped/swabbed can be painful. I'm sure it's pretty awful for men However, it's also quite quick. Worth a brief moment of pain to guarantee that you're clean

Here's a tip in case your girlfriend doesn't know: DO NOT HAVE SEX for a couple days afterwards. I always got my STD test done during a PAP, but I'm pretty sure they'll still use a small scraping instrument for her. If you have sex soon afterwards, it'll burn like CRAZY for her.
