Christopher Lambert for Roland.

Some casting ideas...

Roland Deschain: David Morrissey
Jake: Chandler Riggs
Eddie Dean: Jonathan Tucker
Odetta/Susannah: Rutina Wesley
Young Roland: Dylan Sprayberry
Susan Delgado: Kaitlyn Dever
Jack Mort: Michael Shannon
Blaine the Mono (voice): Kurt Russell
Eldred Jonas: Bill Moseley
Now that is perfect.

As much as the development of this thing is starting to feel like the end/coda of THE DARK TOWER...I really want to see this happen.

Co-signed. I've been reading so many articles that state the project has been green-lighted, only to have it dropped for one reason or another, that I'll be pessimistic until I see set photos.

Alfie Allen is another guy I can see making a good Eddie depending on his American accent.

Of all the studios why Sony now that Rothman is there?…

That worries me.

I have a feeling that he's a changed man. Well he's changed because he has to.

Money talks. This is not 2006 anymore.

I still want Hugh Jackman for Roland. Like, a lot. Tom Hardy would be great too, though with Mad Max, it seems a bit too close.

:funny:

Yeah, Jackman is still my top choice for this. Every time I've ever brought him up in this thread though (which has been going on for a WHILE now) someone always says it's a "lazy, uninspired choice" or whatever. But I still think he makes the most sense. He looks exactly the way Roland is described (only he'd need to bulk down a little), he's the right age, I'm confident that he could play the role well, and he's a huge, bankable star. And with his tenure as Wolverine coming to an end, it would be good for him career-wise to get hooked up with another franchise.

People keep saying that, I guess we'll see.
He was hired by Sony mainly to for money reasons, he scrutinizes budgets and keeps them in check...which could be a good thing overall for Sony but...
The Dark Tower is not something you can go into thinking cheaply, if so it's going to come across as a SyFy movie of the week which is where my worry comes from.

And Sony cant do that. He can't get away with his Dragonball Evolutions anymore, and I think he's aware of that.

Mads Mikkelsen - Roland

Don't they meet King in the 70s? He's getting a little old for that.

Love the idea of Mendelsohn as Walter. Never would have thought of that one.

They could have Joe Hill play King. He looks so much like his dad. hahaha

I'd go with:

Roland - Hugh Jackman
Young Roland - Scott Eastwood
Eddie - Aaron Paul
Susannah - Zoe Saldana
Jake- Chandler Riggs?
The Man in Black - Matthew McConaughey

Now then. How do we translate the taheen and can-toi to live action?

What's that cat-looking thing in the lower right corner?

Deadline said:
Nikolaj Arcel is the choice to direct The Dark Tower, the Stephen King novel series set in a world woven with magic and revolving around the gunslinger Roland Deschain. I’ve heard talks will begin shortly toward a deal that will have him doing a rewrite and directing the film. Sony Pictures Entertainment signed on earlier this year to co-finance the franchise with Media Rights Capital–it gives new topper Tom Rothman a strong franchise play–and now it looks like they’re near to naming the helmer who’ll bring this massively ambitious project to life. Sony will distribute what is planned to be the first in a series of movies. A complementary TV series is also being developed by MRC. Imagine Entertainment’s Brian Grazer, Weed Road’s Akiva Goldsman and Imagine’s Ron Howard are producing. King is also a producer. That quartet has been involved in this franchise since the beginning, and MRC kept it going when it was between studios.
