Stephen King's Epic "The Dark Tower" - Part 1

Have their been any casting anouncements or rumors about who will play Susannah and Eddie.

Nope.

I've waited a long ass time to see this thing adapted, and it really sounds like they're f***ing it up. Like the Katheryn Winnick casting. She's a good actress but serious, who the hell is she playing? Any characters in the books that she might fit are minor. So my guess is, they either expanded another minor role, created someone new altogether, or miscast her as someone like Susannah.

Most of these characters who have been cast appear to be minor characters who will appear in the first film.

I think it's pretty clear Susannah hasn't been cast yet, at least we don't know the actress.

I'm not sure what to think of how this is shaping up. I hope they get Hannibal Buress to voice Blaine the train

Well, that has to be the most random casting suggestion I've ever heard.

Avengers: Age of Ultron star Claudia Kim has joined the growing cast of Sony‘s THE DARK TOWER, based on the series of novels from Stephen King. The film, which has already started production, stars Matthew McConaughey, Idris Elba, Abbey Lee, Tom Taylor, and Katheryn Winnick. Nikolaj Arcel is directing from a script he wrote with Anders Thomas Jensen, Akiva Goldsman, and Jeff Pinkner.

The story is centered on a character known as The Gunslinger (Elba) who roams an Old West-like landscape in search of the dark tower – supposedly the nexus of all universes – in the hopes that reaching it will preserve his dying world. Along the way, he encounters a mystical villain known as The Man in Black (McConaughey).

Kim is expected to play Arra Champignon, a character known to be “kind” and who “wishes everyone well.” She possesses psychic abilities and seems to come from another world – perhaps another time all together.

I'm guessing we are getting flashbacks if the are including characters from the prequel comics now.

I feel like this might turn out to be a decent movie, but it won't really be The Dark Tower. It's a hard story to adapt, but I feel like they aren't even trying.

I don't know what to think anymore.

I'm waiting for them to reveal that they've merged the characters of Jake and Eddie into a new character named "Jeddie."

This thing feels like it will be as faithful of an adaptation as "The Lost World" was.

It might be like 2005's Constantine, a movie that was beautiful to look at and can be enjoyed but is nothing like the comic, especially Reeve's portrayal of the character.

I hope it will still be an enjoyable movie, as a movie, if people get what I mean? But as an adaptation it sounds awful.

I still wish JJ Abrams had taken this thing on. He's not perfect but I think he would have done a better job than these guys appear to be doing.

I can't wait for the next random C-List actor to be announced as No Character I've Ever Heard Of.

Agreed, I was never a huge JJ fan, for me he did good movies, not great ones, until TFA that is. Would have loved him to take this on.

That's my hope. Its a good middleground between The Mist which was enjoyable and a great adaption, and the likes of IT which was neither of the two.

That psychic girl could be a stand in for Ted, Dinky and Stanley.

I've given up on trying to figure out what they're doing. Going to try with all my power to enjoy whatever happens.

I haven't picked up a prequel comic since summer 2010.

I don't know what all of the whining was about. He looks just like Clint Eastwood

I don't know how people can whine at anything Idris is potentially attached to?

To be fair, he looks great, and I have no issues with the guys acting as he is great, I just wish they had cast so one who looks more like Roland.

So long as this turns out like The Shinning (great movie, so-so adaptation), I'm happy.
