That exposition was painful, but I like the aesthetic. It looks about like how I would imagine a big Hollywood Dark Tower would look whilst still looking like The Dark Tower.

Thats what happens when you finally release a trailer 3 months before the movies release.

I didn't read the books and the trailer didn't get me interested.

That's probably because you've seen it all before.

Such a shame they're chasing the mainstream tentpole box office template. This deserved a more original, creative take. A restrained, compelling trailer that was more about the mystery and brutality of the Dark Tower story would have served far better than this explosive, by the numbers sci-fi action movie ******** we're being served up. Not The Dark Tower at all...

Not interested in watching Sony movies in cinema. They suck. And this is another one.

Another property bites the dust. It looks generic.

I thought Elba killed it as Roland. Thats really not TDT though. I don't know how I feel about it.

Elba is great great great, I was surprised to see so much whining about him on the comment section. Trailer itself though, the film doesn't look very special. PG-13 cgi action. Not much to get excited about, yet.

Let me put it to you this way. Idris Elba is the only good thing about the trailer. The trailer isn't the most horrible thing ever but it's not even okay. It's painfully mediocre to bad.

Trailer did not really move me one way or the other. Does not look PG-13 but something feels off from the books. But I guess we shall see.

As someone who has never even heard of The Dark Tower, I enjoyed the trailer. Looks interesting.

I hate being negative about stuff... but this looks bad. Looks absolutely nothing like the books. I was hyped about Elba and McConaughey, but this... ugh.

Why the **** are they showing the ****ing Tower in the first ****ing movie? The tower is supposed to be something mythical and mysterious. You shouldn't be showing it.

Yeah was hoping this would be good but its looking rather generic and a little GiTS vibes in terms of quality at the moment. Shame.

I have Read The Books , The Comics , Kindle and all and i think it looks Fricking Awesome Idris Nailed it as Roland

for years i have been reading on the internet about this King book that can not be made into a movie. for years i have been reading news how many directors and actors left the project. It looks very mediocre

I like the cast.

Seems very contained.

I was hoping that the studio took a larger risk than just putting it up there on screen.

The doors I've read in the book have been changed to portals. That portal effect screams bloatware from the studios.

The gunslinger has all his fingers too. I don't know... the more I think of the changes... the less I like the movie.

Well he doesn't lose his fingers in the first book . You see the doors once so I don't know exactly what they're doing with the portals which is weird .

Ugh. I'm not feeling this at all. Looks like Walter's men are the Pirates of the Caribbean. Also, is it just me or does Elba's accent seem... off?

Damn Guys you got Huge Problems Thats Why i Prefer Social Media instead of Forums

We'll see. Didn't see enough of MM to gauge since they're probably withholding his villanous rants for the movie, but Elba is in his element.

Anyone else see the nod to Pennywise? It can be seen 1:30 into the trailer.

...

Anyway, I guess the good news here is that if this movie is a flop and gets quickly swept under the rug, then maybe a few years down the line HBO or Netflix or someone will buy up the rights and launch a Dark Tower series that actually follows the book. I think you could do TDT on a TV budget; hell Westworld looks more like TDT than this "Roland jumps off rooftops like Batman" nonsense.

Screw it. When I need my Dark Tower fix, I'll either just reread the books or the Marvel comics, or rewatch Westworld. Ed Harris' character sort of feels like an evil version of Roland.

Any shots of the taheen or can-toi that ya'll noticed?

My ideal DT lineup of directors:

The Gunslinger - Mangold

The Drawing of the Three - Nolan

The Wastelands - Lynch

Wizard and Glass - Eastwood

Wolves of the Calla - Darabont

Song of Susannah - Del Toro

The Dark Tower - Del Toro
