The last one is scary as ****.

None of them look like Pennywise, though. Maybe when he's in "eating" mode, but he's supposed to look like a regular clown. He uses the disguise to manipulate children, which doesn't work if you look like a demon from Hell all the time.

Yeah I'd prefer if he just looked like a regular clown most of the time.

In the book, even when Pennywise was trying to tempt children as "just an ordinary clown" there was always something about him that seemed a little "off". He would cast no shadows, or his balloons would float against the wind, stuff like that. So it would make sense if Pennywise were to look at least a little creepy.

Being creepy and looking like any of those drawings are two different things. It should come from performance, not all those bells and whistles. That's what sucked about Flagg in the miniseries they made for The Stand in the 90s. They overdid it by putting him in monster make-up, and the character ended up losing a lot in the process.

Even though this movie is currently on the back burner I wouldn't be surprise if WB brought in another powerhouse to work on it. WB is kinda full of surprises.

A clown engaging in this behavior is creepy in and of itself. One of the creepiest scenes in 1990's IT is when Pennywise stands on the side of the road waving. It's simple, no gruesome make-up. Just eeriness. I hope they go for that.

They also made his cranium unusually large, making him slightly creepy even without the fangs. They should do something similar with the newer movie.

True, that made him larger than life without going overboard. I think Tim Curry looked perfect as Pennywise. It's a shame he was wasted like that, even though I don't hate the 1990 version.

I wouldn't agree that he was wasted on the movie, although it certainly had it's problems. That was mostly due to it being a made for TV miniseries though.

Damn, I didn't know it was that bad. Kind of sad to see a previously energetic man like that.

Wasted is a strong word, but imagine 1990 Tim Curry in an adaptation that truly captures the spirit of the book and without the crappy effects at the end.

We did get a lot of entertaining material. The storm drain scene, the shower scene, the library scene (even though it's way too goofy), the sewer scene.

My point exactly. "Wasted" is way too strong a word for the performance that we got. Had it been a theatrical release with a better effects budget, it could have been brilliant. But for what it was, it was pretty damn good.

When did he have a stroke? He did the voice of Palpatine on The Clone Wars only a year ago.

Oh wow. Wouldn't know it from listening to his voice work in The Clone Wars.
