It won't matter. New Line is dead set on making this a 90-100 minute cookie cutter horror movie.

Unless the rights can somehow go to a different studio, I don't have much faith in this.

I won't say it'll suck but based on Mama, I'm not too excited about the new director choice. Mama was fine but really nothing new.

I have no idea. I think he's not good on the business end, or just pure bad luck? Maybe that's why G Del Toro attaches himself to so many projects. He knows that out of the 10 movies he's signed up for, 2 might get the green light.

Oh how very original.

Mama turned to dog **** about halfway through the film so I'm not expecting much from this guy. If he can surprise me then good on him, but my expectations are in the Dollar General bargain bin for now.

I would have like to have seen Mike Flannigan, director of Oculus take the reigns.

"It" is a major influence on both of the movies he has put out so far with Oculus in particular borrowing its back and forth story structure from the book.

His first film Absentia was heavily rooted in the Three Billy Goats Gruff as King's book is and although the title is never shown, a character is shown reading a Dark Tower prequel comic. (I only noticed because I have the same issue!).

Not only is it obvious that he is a fan, I think Flannigan would have the chops to pull it off.

Del Toro just never stops writing essentially. Also he is much more up front about the things he's working on. Despite the jokes, it often seems like other directors like Spielberg are about even with the amount of projects that come to fruition.

What is interesting about del Toro is that in the last several years, its is only his adaptations that fall apart. His original work has been getting made, Pacific Rim in 13, the Strain in 14, Crimson Peak this year.
