Similar to josh Brolin as thanos, new face with a semblance of brolins features.
Eh, I doubt it would really be any more or less difficult, they'd still have to create a CG face and transfer the motion capture information to it, so long as the face bears resemblance to that of a human it probably wouldn't be any easier or harder. I think it's also safe to say that whatever actor gets cast, any softness their face may have is gonna get completely erased by their design for Darkseid, and that doesn't mean their likeness would be lost completely.
I definitely get a bit of a Bardem vibe from this artwork

While something like this makes me think Weller

I always thought Stephen Lang could be a good fit for Darkseid.
Steppenwolf in the New 52 comics is shown with this absurdly cool looking sword/maul thing that glows red.

Whether or not somebody like Gerard Butler is cast as Steppenwolf, I wouldn't mind seeing him wielding a big fiery sword or spear like the one in Gods of Egypt (the movie sucked, but some of the visuals were pretty).
funny thing is they made the "gods" in that movie 8 ft+ tall so they could do it JL too. throw a giant helmet on him and he'd look like the steppenwolf in the comics.
I still can't understand your clinging to him looking like a human when it wouldn't really make sense as he is related to a humanoid walking talking living grey stone statue, so why he look human when Darkseid is so drastically different, if it is a matter of changing form why would they ever change out of their natural form to look human especially because they don't seem to be infiltrating, just outright invading so there would be no point in them assuming the human form, especially to fight in as he would naturally want to fight in his own skin.

Darksied looks the way he looks because he's a host for Darkseid. Uxas used to look like a human-like New God before becoming a host. Just saying.

Darkseid IS Uxas.
He looks the way he does because he's a host for the Omega Force.
Sure that is how it is in the comics, but them creatively stepping away from yet another alien race that looks just like humans is a great choice and one that should be accepted so them following Darkseid's lead and making them look monstrous is just perfect. I can see it now Desaad as a short (for an apokalyptian) 7ft tall emaciated light gray vampiric looking being with red/pinkish eyes, Steppenwolf as large muscular and intimidating specimen, Kalibak as slightly deformed with bigger than normal shoulders and neck compared to the rest of his body while still being impressively built while sporting his glorious mane and Darkseid being the biggest of them all but still looking sophisticated.
I have to say ... Thanos is great and I'm loving EVRRYTHING that Marvel is doing. But Thanos doesn't compare to Darkseid even a little bit.
Darkseid is essentially DC's Satan (I know there is a real Satan but Darkseid is far more important to the DCU than Satan)
Thanos just doesn't compare.
I can't wait to see Apokolips. Hopefully we see it in this movie.
Eh, I've always preferred Thanos to Darkseid. I love how batsh** crazy he is. It makes him more interesting, IMO.
They're both awesome. But they're not similar apart from looks, really.
Darkseid is the living embodiment of evil. Like force of nature in a way. An actual God.
Thanos is more humanised. He's insane and in love with death. Whilst he is a complete monster, in his better portrayals there is a melancholy under the surface. He's even been an anti hero a couple times.
