Steppenwolf is the Villain of Justice League 2017

http://www.gamespot.com/articles/justice-league-film-who-is-the-villain-steppenwolf/1100-6441112/

This character first appeared back in 1972 in New Gods #7. He's a part of the weird worlds created by legendary artist and writer Jack Kirby. Without getting too heavy into what's called "Fourth World," Steppenwolf comes from the planet Apokolips, which is either at war with New Genesis or about to go to war with it. Think of Apokolips as the "bad" planet and New Genesis as the "good" planet or as Hell and Heaven. These planets contain super-powered beings called The New Gods. Most of them reside on New Genesis, under the rule of Highfather. A few who oppose Highfather live on Apokolips, under Darkseid's rule.

Steppenwolf is the uncle of Darkseid and one of his elite soldiers. He's a powerhouse character who borders on having omnipotent power. His laundry list of abilities includes superhuman strength, speed, reflexes, and senses. In addition, he's invulnerable, has immunity from diseases and toxins, and he's immortal. Saying he's going to be a challenge for the Justice League is the understatement of the century. In the thousands of years of his existence, he's mastered many forms of combat, and if that's not enough, he carries an electro-axe, which is as dangerous as it sounds.

Aside from his powers, Steppenwolf isn't the friendliest of characters. During the New 52 DC Universe, Steppenwolf tried to take over Earth-2 in Darkseid's name. The superheroes of Earth-2 were no match for the overpowered soldier. The battle almost seemed unfair. Eventually, as always, the heroes prevailed, in a way. Steppenwolf may have died in battle, but he accomplished his goal for at least a short time.

We have already seen what Steppenwolf will look like in the upcoming 2017 film. Warner Brothers revealed a deleted scene from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice which showed Lex Luthor looking at a hologram of someone holding three Mother Boxes. More recently, it was revealed that the hologram was in fact of Steppenwolf.

Mother Boxes are small supercomputers that allow people of Apokolips and New Genesis to teleport great distances, including to Earth. This will be how Steppenwolf will be able to travel so far. He won't be coming alone though. If you remember the vision of the future during Batman v Superman, there were flying demon-like creatures in the sky. These were Parademons, the soldiers for Darkseid's army. Steppenwolf will most likely be leading the way with his army, using the Mother Boxes as transport. Aside from this invulnerable New God, the Justice League will also have to face a horde of flying soldiers.

Steppenwolf may not be a high-profile villain from the DC Universe, but he's certainly a terrifying force for the Justice League to fight. He has an immense amount of power, along with an army of flying soldiers. How will the protectors of Earth stop this force? We'll have to wait until November 17, 2017 when Justice League hits theaters.

Or he adopts a faux humanoid appearence to deal with Earthlings, but the alien monster thing is his true form

Damn. That's a good idea.

Recently, I have been liking the idea that Steppenwolf is more of human like being but they already showed him as this monster in BvS.

This is a great way to blend the two. Will be interesting. Kinda like Hades from Percy Jackson.

I'm fine with Steppenwolf as the villain for the first cinematic Justice League movie.

Hopefully Steppenwolf will be the villain in the same way Ronan was the villain in Guardians of the Galaxy. He's the immediate threat, but we see Darkseid working behind the scenes the whole movie, rather than just a few passing mentions. I mean, they eschewed post-credits scenes because it had become synonymous with The Avengers movies (I see the hypocrisy of saying hopefully they'll do something similar to Marvel so they do something different to Marvel, but one movie vs. an entire series), so hopefully they won't follow the same track in Thanos' regard.

I prefer prologues and epilogues. Snyder just needs to get better at the latter. That Wayne murder cold open is the best interpretation to date. The Lex Luthor Ping Ping Ping, not so much. But I haven't seen the UC yet so maybe that wasn't the original plan.

And also Ronan wasn't exactly well devolped. He was kind of just a tool to move the plot around and through no face soldiers at the Guardians.

It'll be a plus for me if Steppenwolf is played well. But as long as the league themselves are good, then in this case I don't mind if Steppenwolf is a little on the 1 dimensional side.

I think that's what we can expect. I imagine there won't be much development of Steppenwolf himself, he will just be a threat they have to overcome. Then Darkseid turns up afterwards.

So in terms of power levels I think Steppenwolf should be able to hurt and injure Superman alone, but not able to handle the whole JL together.

Darkseid should be something the JL can't handle with brute strength, they need tactics. A plan, outthink him because physically they will never beat him.

So why does Darkseid sit back and let Steppenwolf handle it? He feels Earth isn't worth his time but considers this more of an errand run to get the mother boxes back? Then when he sees what they can do he steps in.

I think one vs one he should be able to give a good fight to the most powerful members. But altogether they would be stronger than him. He compensates for that by having the parademons occupying the league members at different times.

I don't think Steppenwolf's power level matters very much if he's got a Parademon army. Same deal with Loki in Avengers.

1 dimensional characters can be fine so long as the film doesn't waste unnecessary screen time on them.

I think he should be able to put up a fight against the likes of Superman, Wonder Woman and the other powerful members though. He is the general of the armies of Apokolips for a reason.

It's ding ding ding ding ding. :oldrazz:

So rumors of Charles Dance for Steppenwolf are popping up. :sly:

I want him to still be demonic looking under all the helmet/armor as a human face just wouldn't cut it for me.

They could easily do both. They can use Charles' face for when Steppy is being all affable and talkative. When Superman arrives and the feces hits the fan he transforms into his Apokoliptian form as he has no power to waste on illusions of diplomacy.

Tl;dr Demonic form for when **** gets real for Steppenwolf.
