Emmy winner Sterling K. Brown has joined the cast of Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther” in the role of N’Jobu, a figure from T’Challa aka Black Panther’s past.

Brown recently won an Emmy Award and is Golden Globe-nominated for his portrayal of Christopher Darden in “The People V. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story.” The veteran stage and screen actor also garnered Screen Actors Guild and NAACP Image award nominations for the role as well as for the critically acclaimed TV show “This Is Us.”

Directed by Ryan Coogler (“Fruitvale Station,” “Creed”), “Black Panther” stars Chadwick Boseman in the title role alongside Michael B. Jordan, Forest Whitaker, Lupita Nyong’o, Angela Bassett, Danai Gurira, Daniel Kaluuya, Winston Duke, and Florence Kasumba. The film arrives in theaters on February 16, 2018.

I'm not familiar with him as an actor but from what I've seen of people's reactions he is very good so I can't wait to see him in Black Panther

Love this guy on This Is Us. This movie just can't stop.

Another great actor for the cast. Wouldn't be shocked to see another major actor/actress added.

Brown on Black Panther:

"I was reading Reginald Hudlin’s series of the Black Panther 10 or 12 years ago and I remember loving it. A friend of mine was like, ‘Dude, you should buy the rights.’ I was like, ‘C’mon, man. Ain’t nobody going to do no black superhero movie!’ And here we are, 12 years later. It did my heart good to see Chad [Boseman] in Civil War. And after having read the script — which I can’t say anything about or I’m going to have to cut off my pinkie toe — I’m excited for fans to see what Nate Moore and Ryan Coogler has in store for them. It’s something special."

Wait what, Phylicia Rashad is in this?

I hope she's the voice of Bast. I mean, no qualms if she has an on-screen role instead, but whenever I would read Bast in the comics, Rashad's was the voice I 'heard'. It being made real in the film would be a-ma-zing!!!

I hope so too. In fact I mentioned this in the speculation thread some months back.

I'm going to guess that she's Killmonger's mother, thereby creating some symmetry between this role and her role in Creed as Adonis' mother.

Hmm not sure how I'd feel about that but it could be interesting. I'm going to stick with Rashad's potential casting as Bast.

Looks like they cut his mentioning of Rashad out of the story, either because it's not a done deal yet or they were hoping to keep it a secret.

Brown was Excellent. Truly added presence despite the almost cameo role.
