I love Coogan in just about everything. If anyone's watched The Day Today TV series, it's brilliant.

Coogan as Stan, I can definitely see that. John C. Reilly... I know he's a good actor and he can probably pull it off, but seeing him as Ollie is going to be extremely jarring at first.

Funny that of the two, Reilly looks way more like the person he's playing.

Reilly, on the other hand, is a dead ringer for Hardy.

I think nowadays it's more about embodiment of the mannerisms than anything. But if that makeup job doesn't get an Oscar nod somebody is slippin'.

Yeah, there are some shots where he looks very different from Stan Laurel, but in others shots he looks a lot like him.

So, that's pretty close.

Wow, assumed this would be more of a comedic take than straight-up biopic (well, not birth-to-death biopic, but you know). Very cool, looks great.

Bumping this thread because the movie is out.

As a fan I got a lot of enjoyment out of it. Coogan and Reilly are amazing as Laurel & Hardy, and I learned some things I didn't know, specifically about how they used material from The Flying Deuces, Way Out West and County Hospital for their stage shows. I thought it was all new material that Stan cooked up.

It's a very "inside baseball" film and a good tribute to the guys, so if you're a fan you'll get something out of it.
