Steven Spielberg Teams with Stephen King for Under the Dome

I hope the dumb ass Sheriff realizes that she ****ed up by giving Junior a badge and gun and attempts to remove his crazy ass from that position of power.

I liked seeing Big Jim getting *****ed slapped. Then felt sorry for him. And was happy to see him return the favor.

So we finally see the lesbian couple embrace one another with more than just a hug and the hotter half of the two bites it. And it was just an extended grandma kiss. They blocked the 2nd one with a pillow. lol

Hey, showing a cow cut in half is one thing, but a lesbian kiss? That's just ****** up.

This show has some great moments. And some spectacularly bad moments. I'm still intrigued by the show just to know the differences between this storyline and the one of the book, and the show isn't bad, but it's certainly still a network show. Bummer, imagine if AMC had their hands on this thing... At least Hell on Wheels is back this week.

A network show... :whatever:

I don't really know if it's just about it needing to be more 'sellable', but there is a pretty substantial dropoff in cinematic/writing quality between most Showtime/AMC/HBO/FX shows and network shows like CBS, NBC, ABC, etc.

Maybe they just need a showrunner with less of a flair for melodrama, lol

I would certainly not say that in such broad terms Hannibal is extremely well written and visualized. Fx is owned by Fox so I don't see how you can make that distinction between the two.

They simply have different needs and goals. Just as Fox and FX have very different goals, as you can see by what kinds of projects they choose to take on. Networks typically stick to formulaic shows. But I digress, its really not that important. There are obviously exceptions to the rule. Lost and Hannibal were on network tv, True Blood somehow made it onto ShowTime.... its a generalization, not a rule.

This particular show feels like in between - at times it feels like its pretty cinematic and pulls off a great sequence or moment, then at other times feels like a CW show, or implements overused tv conventions into a story that didn't need it. Im still enjoying it, but its hardly the quality of many of the shows on the aforementioned channels like amc, ShowTime, etc.

^^^^ Could not agree more dude. Every damn word haha

I'm enjoying the miniseries despite the huge differences between the novel and the tv adaptation. Those differences being the elimination of some characters and the addition of some others.

And the characters that remain, there are some differences here as well. But all in all, it doesn't distract from the miniseries, for the theme is still intact.

Some of the events are in the tv version, such as the "MOAB," visitation day, and the food riots.

I'm curious to see how they solve the mystery of the dome and see how, or if, it differs from the novel.

But for me, the exciting part of the book was the story of the people under the dome, not the dome itself.

I love the Jimsters subtle response to 3 teeth stealing the propane. :funny: Why do i get the feeling in the book he humps rose's corpse?

The Sheriff manages to get stupider by the week, she gives Junior an assault rifle and THEN tells him the guys they are going to arrest tried to rape the object of his desires?

Poor Lesbian Mom. :( Was that Samantha Mathis btw?

Spoilers ahead for those that havent' read the book but are planning to.

Rose doesn't get murdered in the book, but the wife of Duke Perkins (who was written out of the tv adaptation, does) because she had the good on Big Jim. The lesbian couple are only in the tv adaptation.

This is the first legit complaint I've seen about her yet, to be honest. "Here's your gun, Junior.... NO, JUNIOR, NO! We're bringing them in ALIVE."

You mean other than her making his crazy ass a deputy to begin with and then telling everyone to stay away from the Dome on visiting day before going up to it and making out with it? OR when she told everyone to get underground for safety and then ran off to look at some teenage carving instead of following her own advice?

Yep. Aka Patrick Bateman's clueless girlfriend, aka Mrs. Frank Castle, aka the Princess from the Mario Brothers movie.

So...

the daughter, is she not in the book or there is a girl in the book and she has been completely rewritten for the show?

Your first point: It isn't like he wears a shirt with the words "I'm a crazy mother****er" embroidered on it. His issues aren't clear to anyone but Angie, Barbie and his dad. Her eyes are probably open to it now, post-gunning down that rapist hick.

Your second and third: Her choices were selfish and emotional. She's not a braindead idiot, though. Considering who her coworkers were when the dome went down, I'd say she is the second most intelligent member of the Chester's Mill PD, after the poor bastard who took the bullet that ricocheted off the dome.

Plus, you know people in positions of power never follow their own rules. :o

And the scientist Lady in Deep Blue Sea!

He doesn't need the t-shirt since it's pretty obvious he's a creeper to anyone within a 20 yard radius of him, and it's strongly hinted at that he was seen as weird before any of the Dome stuff happened, plus he's practically a kid with no life experience and she hands him a badge and gun, that's dumb even if he was the town golden boy.

My second and third point just show she's been an idiot from the get go and has just continued being one. I do like how she was the smartest member of the Chester's Mill PD for at least one episode, y'know, when she was the ONLY member. :oldrazz:

In badly written TV shows this is true. ;)

I got your back Sawyer!

And Princess Daisy did NOT age well :(

You get way too protective of these shows dude. :funny:

You get way too judgmental when characters aren't all Spocks that operate solely on logic. People have feelings, Hunter! :argh:

I'm only mean about serial brain farters, I mean I've eased up on the red head after her initial idiocy. :(
