I was watching Spiderman 1 yesterday. And I realized that I still enjoy this movie. The over the top wrestling scene is good Raimi, not the actual fight between Bonesaw and Spidey, but everything leading up to it. The running on the roof top was a good style choice. Uncle Ben's final scene always gets me tearing up.

The only thing I don't think I like is how Mary Jane is portrayed. I mean it works for the movie. Even though I never read any of the comics, I expected Mary Jane to be more of a fire crakcker than a just a popular girl at school. I don't even mind that they grew up together, it helps explain Peter's love for her quickly which is needed for the movie. But I don't really see how she cares for him other than "Wait a second, I've had it all along" Peter has alot to offer MJ, always has, but what does MJ have to offer Peter, you know? I think the cartoon did an excellent job of capturing what I know from the comics to be acurate "Face it Tiger, you just hit the jackpot" Where's that in the movie.

Kirsten Dunst is miscast as MJ IMO. But Dafoe and Maguire make up for that.

I really liked Peter's fight with Bonesaw. I thought it was really good. Especially when Bonesaw's girls hand him a chair and say "Kick his spider ass".

I enjoyed spiderman 1, i just was annoyed a little at the bad lines here and there. The ending fight sequence in the bridge compartment was pretty good.

I just watched it again a couple of days ago. I can't believe that after all this time, I missed Lucy Lawless ( Xena ) making a cameo.

I just watched it the other day as well and I find it amazing that it is aging well. Some films are good when you first see them but when you return to them a few years later you wonder why you ever liked this thing. And Spider-man still keeps me on the edge of my seat after 4 years.

I still love it and have no shame in quoting the film like a big dork :O

The character, yes.
The movie, no.

The movie is one hell of a ride so I would call this a classic. WEB-HEAD 4 LIFE!!!!! :spidey: ................. well maybe until I'm like 25 or something.

I would never of known that was Xena unless someone told me.

Thing about the match with Bonesaw is that it makes no since, Spidey knocks Bonesaw down and the ref counts but Spidey doesn't pin him. Surely "Macho Man" Randy Savage could have pointed that out

I don't think I've seen this since Spider-Man 2 hit. I have it on DVD, but have felt no reason to give it a spin. I remember my reactions as mixed. At times it felt too campy and melodramatic.

I recently saw some clips of the Green Goblin jumping on his glider during the World Unity Festival scene, and well, it was even more god-awful looking than I remembered it. Some of the CG certainly hasn't held up well.

I only recognized the voice because I had been watching Xena the day before I saw the DVD. I didn't recognize her face at all because of the awesome costume job.

I knew before the movie came out.

Sometimes the test of a movie's entertainment value is in how you feel about it 3 years later (or in this case 4); that's staying power.

I totally agree. It's easy to get caught up in the theatre experience but when you've already seen a flick several times and it still entertains you, it has the magic.
