Stop Complaining Please! Is Anybody Else Sick of It?!

After watching Ghost Rider, I wonder if any X-fans want to still complain about X3? Now THAT is how to make a bad movie. Ghost Rider is something to complain about, X3 simply isn't. Ghost Rider stuck close to its comic roots but still managed to be quite bad. X3 ranged from its strict comic origins and still delivered a fun and exciting movie. See the difference now?

If you still feel so strongly about why X3 was a great movie then why haven't you posted your opinion in the "If you don't like the movie post here thread" in 6 to 8 months?

I'm not complaining because it was different then the comics or what not, I'm complaining because it was your typical sell out movie that especially hurt because it ruined what was a promising film series just like what T3 and Batman Forever/Batman and Robin did. It was basically a popcorn flick with some over the top special effects(which you can tell were rushed especially in the phoenix vs. xavier scene) and REALLY bad editing and had no depth or emotion whatsoever like the first two did hence why they wen't beyond a generic comic book movie. The only good thing in this film was the good acting by McKellen, Janssen and Stewert and all of the cast coming back This is why I'm really hating Hollywood now because what they're doing to films. It's Quality over Quantity not the other way around greedy bastards :o

While I feel that all 3 X-Men films are greatly superior to Ghost Rider, I did not feel it was a bad film at all.

A bit generic, but good for what it was.

^I kinda agree with the everything excep the all 3 part. :p

I didn't expect much from GR i'm not even a fan of the source.

I know nothing about the source. Only GR comic I read was an X-Men comic that he made a guest appearance in :p

The movie was pretty much what I expected; good overall, with some cheesy camp to it. Plotline was rather generic and undeveloped in areas, and some of the dialogue was worse than expected. But overall, I found enjoyment from it.

Just because A movie is worse than B movie doesn't mean B movie isn't just as bad as one originally thought. :woot:

I get what you're trying to say with the 'being tr00 to the source material can backfire'.

Still, a lot of us don't like X3 not just for butchering the x-mythos, but also because the narrative was just plain bad and the climax was lackluster. :whatever:

Just saying there was more to our complaints than deviations from the source material.

Eh. Dear God, if the flick was really true to the source material, I get the feeling I'm not missing much.

SOME cheesy camp??? :woot: :woot: :woot:

I dunno, maybe deep down inside I expected it to be worse.

I got burned really badly by Hellboy, thinking I was walking into a truly dark tale about demons and such...

Instead, I got the worst 1-liner fest I've ever had the displeasure of enduring.

After that and Blade 2, I have vowed to never watch another Del Toro movie ever again. Pan's Labyrinth doesn't look appealing enough to want to break my vow.

Since Ghost Rider wasn't nearly that bad, and did have at least a dark figure in Mephisto, I guess I just expected it to be a lot worse than it was.

I don't think the movie had over the top special effects, in fact I think the opposite - I think the FX in X3 were very well executed and added to the grounded in reality feel of the provious 2 movies. And rushed FX in the Phoenix vs. Xavier scene??! That sequence had the best FX of the entire trilogy imo!

Well, I put Ghost Rider and X3 in the same category as being bad films. Both had directors that clearly don't know what they're doing, and both films have watered down concepts in order to make it acceptable for viewings.

Were the effects in X3 good? They were decent at best. Nothing exciting or mindblowing really.

Ghost Rider, in my opinion, had the somewhat superior effects in terms of how complex they were and how realistic he looked in some scenes. But there was nothing mindblowing about them since they missed a wonderful opportunity in showing Blackheart and Mephisto in their demonic forms.

X3 is the Batman and Robin of the X-Men franchise. Maybe not as horrible or as bad, but it's definitely the Batman and Robin of the series since the ruined any kind of great continuity the first two films established. Hell, the Saw trilogy establishes a seemless connection than X3 does.

In a few cgi scenes, storm and professor x are transparent. Storm is transparent when she does her spin scene and xavier is transparent towards the end when the camera does a close up of jean when she freezes everything.

Ya sure you're not overanalysing things a bit too much gap?

True. I'm just saying I never noticed any transparency and I've watched those scenes a good few times.

Oh Nell, see Pan's Labyrinth. It was amazing. And then see The Devil's Backbone, which is Del Toro's earlier film that takes place in the same time period. Both great movies.

It's his opinion and all, but for him to say that Toro is the worst filmmaker in cinema history is quite laughable. But that's just my view on it.

Pans Labyrinth is amazing though.

I don't think he did say that...he just said he hated Hellboy and Blade 2.

But he's allowed to think so if he wants. I won't yell at him if he does. :cwink:

He said it in the X2 forums. ;) He said Del Toro is the worst director in the world and he's glad he didn't touch X1/X2.

In any case, it's his opinion and all, but for him to say Toro is the worst director in film history is really kind of foolish. But hey to each their own I guess.

Again, his opinion there was still based on just Blade 2 and Hellboy. I didn't see Blade 2, but I didn't like Hellboy...based on just that alone would not have made me much of a fan either.

But the other two movies were great, which is why I suggested them. Not to call his opinion foolish...because it's not just because we might disagree. :cwink:

Meh, calling Toro the worst director in the world is like saying Scorsese is the Uwe Boll of directors. It's simply not true and makes me question his taste in actual films.

Not saying his opinion is worthless, just saying that when you consider the critically acclaimed Pans Labyrinth AND Devils Backbone, one has to see that this guy definitely isn't a talentless hack who has a track record of ruining films. I did enjoy Blade II, didn't enjoy Hellboy so much since I was never a Hellboy comic book fan to begin with.

I wouldn't go as far as saying X3 is the franchise's "Batman & Robin". It's a studio product, plain and simple. Is it decent for a studio product? Kind of. It looks great (thanks to the cinematographer). But they tried to stuff too many plot elements and characters in the movie. Add to the fact that you've got an ADD director at the helm, and some pretty bad dialogue (although some bits and pieces were actually good), and you get X3.

I was never a fan of Guillermo Del Toro's work. I thought "Blade II" was inferior to the original. "Hellboy" was ok. "Mimic"..well that was just depressing. "Pan's Labyrinth" won me over to how great a director and writer he is.

Have you seen The Devil's Backbone?

There are people who hate Scorsese. Every acclaimed director has their detractors. It's not questionable taste, it's just different, even if I vehemently disagree.

If I had to go just based on Hellboy, I would have wanted Del Toro to stay away from the X-Men films too. Even having seen his other films, I'm still not so sure it would work. I think he would make an interesting Harry Potter adaptation, considering the tone of the later books.

i love that a thread that is about not complaining is filled with nothing but complaining:huh: :whatever:

I totally agree. I think the Batman series was so far gone by then, that Batman & Robin was just the final nail in the coffin.

X3, well...like you said, it's a studio product. A decent studio product, imo, but shamefully not allowed to live up to it's real potential.

Same here, except I'd never seen Blade 2. I liked lot of his horror movie commentary on Bravo's 100 Scariest Movie Moments awhile back (Devil's Backbone made the list), then I saw Pan's Labyrinth as well, and that was a terrific film. So I can say I'm a fan now.

I'll take a million Ghost Riders over just one X3.

At least I had fun at Rider. It was cheesy for sure, but it was harmless.
