You know I'm joking right?....

i would hope so. but i also hope this isn't you trying to get in with the "cool kids"

you don't have to do that to get along around here

but man, this place is a pretty good metaphor of high school and the clique system. we used to have a thread about that way back when

Frankly I consider the war on piracy more futile than the war on drugs. They never permanently stop these sites, and short of some hitherto unimagineable means being developed they will never make a dent in piracy.

Well idk, I am kinda stupid and don't mean for people to hate me... I am trying tho

So I'm watching Edge of Tomorrow and despite not being a Tom Cruise fan, I'm enjoying it. I love Groundhog Day type movies.

Who exactly are we talking about here? You keep mentioning these 'cool kids', so I am curious.

i dont hate you. and you've far more to worry about than trying to get people to like you or not like you. you can't really control that. and if you're not being yourself, and just being a people please, then they aren't really liking you anyways right? :mindblown:

this quote i read today is from a part in the book where a character did a film documentary on social media
“How is selfworth measured today? By the amount of likes a post gets, by how many friends we collect, by how many retweets we accumulate? Do we even know what we really think until we post our thoughts online and let others tell us if they are worthy?”

it's not too far off here in the forum world either

Your right, one of my favourite quotes is "I'd rather be hated for who I am than loved for who I am not" idk, I guess it's just like, I get this feeling that whenever I eff up, people hate me. I am myself around here, but idk, hard to explain.

... I'm going to step back from this conversation ... anyone want a cold beer?

metaphorical cool kids.

i work with teens a lot, coaching, mentoring, tutoring etc, and a lot of them surprisingly will open up to me and talk to me. and most of their problems are with not knowing how to deal with people not liking them, misunderstandings at school, trying to fit in, self-doubt, learning who they are, etc

there are "cool kids" everywhere, internet, school, work, etc. you don't always have to hang out with the cool kids, find kids who think you are cool.
very loose metaphor-type line there, but it fits.

and most kids don't really realize this in school, but it's better to have a handful of really close reliable friends, than a bunch of half acquaintances who you wont even speak to in a few years.

I think they are equally futile.

I love Edge of Tomorrow. Whenever it's on, I watch.

Well, I am here all the time so I can't help but think you just compared me and whoever else to a high school clique, so i was asking who you were speaking off cause theres only a handful of people that come here consistently so it wasn't just you speaking in generalities.

If calling someone on their stupid BS puts me in the clique, then I will run the damn thing.

:ilv:

i can't lose sleep if i never have any to begin with

i wasn't calling anyone out. i was truly speaking in the metaphorical. as much as you and i talk, you know i would call you out on things if i thought they were you

it is obvious that sanchez wants your approval though, so be a good influence  haha

considering the bandages, it doesn't look like the first time

I didn't expect anyone to really get the reference but Roose... so now im painted into a corner... I was saying the student would try to kill the teacher.

10 points to Kevan.

On another note, I noticed the actor who played Hodor got a face tattoo.... IMBECILE.
