A new Collider Article with a Statement from Joey Ansah: http://collider.com/street-fighter-assassins-fist-images/
Great to be back on Collider several years on from the success of Street Fighter: Legacy, which you premiered, to talk up the hotly anticipated Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist series. From small acorns to great oaks!

SFAF is groundbreaking the fact that it is a truly multi format piece of feature length entertainment.

I’m excited to announce that MACHINIMA will be premiering the series on their main channel on YouTube as a 12 part series (each ep being 11-12mins long), along with a load of bonus and behind the scenes content. The release is currently set for May sometime, exact date to be confirmed soon. We saw Machinima as the perfect first platform distribution partner.

With their incredible 12Million subscribership and specialty in catering to the videogame fan, we figured this series should be served to the gamer demographic first (who know the Street Fighter brand better than anyone), before propagating out to the wider audience. Machinima have had great success distributing other video game based series such as Halo: Forward unto Dawn and Mortal Kombat Legacy series 1&2.

The distribution deals have been sold worldwide for subsequent release platform after Machinima’s exclusive period: TV, cable, On-demand and DVD/Blu-ray. On TV the series will appear as a 6part miniseries (commercial half hour episode length) and also as a condensed 105min TV movie. The DVD/Blu-ray will contain a full playing theatrical cut, and host a whole load of must see bonus content.

Make no mistake this series may be premiering online and seen on TV, but it has been shot as a super cinematic theatrical movie, in terms of cinematography, scale, sound, score action and drama. Love it or not you will never have seen anything quite like it.

My aim is that this series will breakthrough as the most faithful, fan loved video game to live action adaptation of all time. Proving that games can be adapted to live action keeping hyper faithful to the source material, whilst also being compelling character driven action dramas/thrillers that will welcome in wider audiences-A formula Hollywood has been attempting to find, but miserably failing.

People will come to SFAF expecting action, which they’ll get in force! But what will surprise most is how deep a character story it really is. You’ll be forced to look at Capcom’s much loved Street Fighter Gaming franchise in a whole new and deeper light.

This ‘Ryu’ themed teaser trailer follows up from the initial first teaser Machinima released. We shall be releasing a further teaser trailer in 2weeks, which will be followed by a main trailer in May before the series debuts.

Awesome teaser. Still a bit nitpicky when it comes to the Hadoken. I guess the way the first Animated Movie did it, will always be my favorite.

Yeah, Joey's explanation for that on the SF:AF page is this:

I think you'll find that electical hadoken are a different form called Denjin Hadoken. SF2 Animated movie took artisitic license making those lighting based hado, which bear no resemblance to the game hadoken other than Gouken or Oni's Denjin Hado

It's not even because of the electricity. I just love the slow build up of it. The way the energy builds up around him, energy started to collect in his hands, but still not shaping the signature energy ball, then he tensed up and the energy got really compressed and turned into the ball of pure energy.

They really sold you the fact that he's pulling out his trump card. His finishing move. I know in the games you can simply spam them, but when you bring energy attacks over into live action, I want more emphasis on how straining these abilities can be and you only pull them out at the right moment. And not just use them because you want to hit someone from far away, and you're too lazy to walk over. No, when you use things like Hadokens, it should be because you want to put the opponent down for the count. I don't want them toss fire balls around like Johnny Storm.

That's what I hated in their first short, how Ryu's first Hadoken barely did anything to Ken, simply because he blocked. And after that had no affect whatsoever, Ryu still threw another one.

That was a great sneak peek at Ryu's story. I really liked it. I like the effects too. It's nice to see Ryu unleash his ki after bottling it up for so long.

Also, just in case you guys missed Ansah's statement on Collider:

- In 2 weeks, We get another clip

- In May, The Main trailer shortly before the debut of the series

- 12 11-12 minute episodes on the Machinima

- Converted into a 6 part 30 minute episode series on TV and VOD

- Theatrical cut for DVD and Blu-Ray

we're getting somewhere as to when this premieres

Fantastic Ryu teaser ! Badass Ken ! I'm glad we're gonna see the series. May can't come soon enough !

The way he uses it in the animated movie reminds me a lot of a Kamehameha

Capcom isn't really involved at all, right?

^^

I have it on VHS man I feel like watching that again. The dubbed version but still it's great.

The dubbed version is surprisingly ok. And I actually prefer the music used in it, to the original. It simply makes the fights more epic.

Funny tidbit, I'm reading here that Bryan Freaking Cranston voiced Fei Long in the Animated Movie.

I agree the music especially the opening segment with Ryu and Sagat is awesome.

Man, Fei Long took a hard loss in that movie. :hehe:

Capcom is still putting their name on it but they didn't help with the finances or anything.

One of the first to see footage from the series was the SF producer Yoshihiro Ono.

Isn't that what they did with Legacy? But, they were involved with Chun Li's film, right? :woot:

Ugh that Chun Li film also had Fox and Hyde Park involved at a time when Fox was intentionally screwing films over and Hyde Park helped with the Ghost rider sequel....nuff said
