Studios hunting for the next big property franchise

A franchise based on my life :D

Serious suggestion:

Try Dune again...you can have a ton of movies based on Dune books. I liked the Lynch movie, and would like to see the other novels on screen.

Resurrect John Carpenter's "Snake Plissken/Escape" series, perhaps?

here is an idea.
rerelease some old hitchcock and orson well's movies in the theaters. not recut, reimagined, or remade. just the way they were intended. then once people see what good, original movies used to look like we may have a few more people that want to shake hollywood out of its apathy. then we can have a boycot of **** remakes until hollywood starts working on new ideas again. either that or you can just watch indy flicks and be jaded and cynical like me. :oldrazz:

or you can just watch bad remakes and wheelchair sequels for the rest of the decade

Metal Gear, God of War, Halo (i STILL don't know why they stopped production)

The Dark Tower.

That's a seven picture deal right there.

How about....a kid that travels back in time...to the Revolutionary War...but instead of a kid...it's a monkey?! Hilarity ensues!

Mortal Kombat was exactly how a Mortal Kombat movie should have been...the 2nd one was an atrocity, now lets never speak of it again...and Mario was great in a really weird way...Halo could be a huge franchise if they did it right...not only could you adapt the 3 games, you could have tons of movies set in the Halo universe, it's just that expansive...

Here's an idea, why not do Godzilla again, but make it not suck this time? Have it be a 1950's period piece, but instead of attacking Japan, the monster attacks the US...a nice little movie about how our military actions can sometimes come back to bite us in the ass...I think that might be sort of poigniant in this day in age :o

Video game movies always end up sucking :o

Final Fantasy: Advent Children was awesome and Silent Hill was pretty decent. there hasn't been a GREAT video game movie made yet, but that doesn't mean it can't be done. VG's have stories just like comics and novels...they just need to find a director that will take the stories seriously enough to make it work in a film.

just because it hasn't been done yet doesn't mean it's impossible.

Well films based on video games are usually pretty bad. Though from what I have seen Resident Evil and Silent Hill are the best of the recent bunch. Though if they found the right person to direct it could be good.

Oh yeah FF:AC was really good too. Mortal Kombat was cool.

Bring back Critters!

Oh God no! Though I do remember those little black creatures fondly.

How about more Kurt Wimmer Sci-Fi Totalitarian Video Game Like stories???

*crickets*

Yeah...but seriously, I think Hollywood needs to get a grip. It obviously won't though...

no.

those movies don't hold up today. period.

it's called change.

Movies were good back then because it was a new medium and talkies were all the rage. After a while you start to exploit the medium.

Well films based on video games are usually pretty bad.

true but that's because they didn't find exceptional directors. they got hacks like Paul Anderson, Uwe Boll, and Andrzej Bartkowiak to do the films. Halo had 2 great visionaries (Peter Jackson and Neill Blomkamp) and could've possibly been bigger than Lord of the Rings...

...like i said, i still have no clue why they decided to halt that production. the video game industry is so huge right now that they'd be getting their moneys worth from the fans ALONE. not to mention, Halo is one of the most popular amongst gamers...if producers are really interested in money they need to take advantage of it while it's popular.

I would like to see someone pen a script that's all about kick a** women. They dont have to be superheros or anything just really strong women and they fight crime, demons, monsters or whatever.

What happened to Microsoft Studios footing most of the bill for the Halo flick? Surely Gates knows it would be money in the bank(T-Pain style).

Any suggestions? :o

If he doesnt know that he really isnt as smart a man as I thought.

Well yeah we need some more of those. Out of those three I like DEBS the most and really that was because it seemed like the most original, well with the lesbian thing anyways.

fox are just morans, first they f up the x-men series, but they are so blind they cannot see that it is the most open ended franchise ever with 3000 main characters they can choose from, X-men should never be a dead franchise
