Sub Mariner Official Thread

The General is officailly chewing out Ironman and adds in that time isn't on their side, then it's swiched to the Xavier Insititue where Sub Mariner is trying to convince Wolverine he is there to see Proffesor Xavier. Wolverine refuses and won't let Sub Mariner come in because of that the Feds will be all over the Mansion in a New York Minute. Sub Mariner throws the first punch sending Wolverine flying through the part of the Brick Chimney, Sub Mariner then tries to convince Wolverine to help him and they are both on the same side, Wolverine tells him if it's a hand he is looking for he will get it and hits Sub Mariner in the stomach that knocks him off the roof, Sub Mariner is ticked off and retaliates by punching Wolverine to the brick wall that makes it break Wolverine some how puts Sub Mariner in the pool. Wolverine runs and flips the cover switch but is to late with Sub Mariner bursting out grabbing Wolverine and then hitting him hard with his hands together sending Wolverine to the hard cement ground breaking part of it up and tears up his mask.

Proffesor X finally intervenes and shows off his powers being sure that he is here for more than just a scenic tour. Sub Mariner then talks with Proffesor X and how while Mutants are considered the next stage in Evolution it's weird how they haven't counted the Atlanteans. Also he believes that he is not a mass murder. Sub Mariner then walks with Proffesor X to Cereba. Proffesor X using cereba to track the rouge sleeper Atlantean cell that is responsible for the attack. Officially after Sub Mariner reveals that he has controll of the 12 cells but not the 13th making them the guilty ones. Sub Mariner asks him to use the artifact to pinpoint their location but refuses and tells Sub Mariner that he must leave. Sub Mariner starts to walk away and says he will bring this situation to a conclusion and heaven help anybody who gets in his way while pointing to Wolverine. He says while the Mutants think they are different from the humans to him they are both the same.

Sub Mariner walking out of the X-Mansion is then targeted by Shield Sentinels. He is orded to to surrender. Sub Mariner shows being short fused by going into battle. Sub Mariner grabs the arm of one of the Sentinels and shows his strength by ripping it out easily and then uses it to take out the other Sentinel. Sub Mariner tells them if this is their first line of defense then they have major problems and they should go back to the Old Models and flies off.Krakos and the other terrorists drive a dump truck to the Needle Point in Seattle. Krakos and the other two terrorists now in the Needlepoint talks about how humans think they are invulnerable and keep a new building that he refers to as a monstrasity, and then adds in once their extractor engages it will remind humans how vulnerable they are and Namors downfall is sure to follow.

Ironman says that Namor isn't a coward and from his look on his face eyes he was a man on a mission. He fears that Namor has lot control of Atlantis and that the new leadership could be bad for Atlantis.
The Atlantean replacement King he is giving a big speech and wants take down the surface dwellers that are surronding Atlantis. Also Namor went to the surface to take out those that have stained Atlantis's reputation with their actions.
Sub Mariner is shown flying in and his hit by Venoms special gun that contains nanotech spores which takes every last bit of oxygen out of the person's body. Sub Mariner then goes down to the ground finding it harder to breathe and sees Venom. Venom uses the gun again. Venom then tells Sub Mariner that he could do whatever he wants with him according to his intructions so he had him thinking what to do. He tells him he never liked these things his ankle wings on him and rips two of them off which has Sub Mariner screaming in pain. Then To Be Continued at such a interesting time as always.

Sub Mariner is ticked off and retaliates by punching Wolverine to the brick wall that makes it break Wolverine some how puts Sub Mariner in the pool.

You'd think someone that's supposedly been around as long as Wolverine has, and with all the Intel organizations he's worked with, he'd know better than thowing an Atlantean into the water...

Exactly. I mean even if the cover did go ever Sub Mariner is at his best while in water so Wolverine still would have been screwed and Sub Mariner would easily break out of the glass cover.

namor hasnt totally interested me since his whole goodguy/badguy was explained in earth x. does the chemical imbalance thing hold true in the 616?

Sub Mariner 4 will be shipping this upcoming Wednesday September 26,2007.
I am pretty sure Venom is going to get his @ss kicked with Sub Mariner taking revenge after getting 2 of his ankle wings ripped off.

So, who got issue 4?

I thought it was great. I'm going to miss this mini when it ends.

nothing from Earth X applies to 616

Although the chemical balance thing does hold true, as I recall. It's the reason behind most his savage rages.

As for the latest issue, from what I've seen... hello Koryak.

Aquaman fans will know what I mean.

Is it really a chemical imbalance? That just makes him sound...crazy. I always just looked at it as Namor gets cranky if he's out of water for too long.

Since his Revival in the Silver Age Sub Mariner is a honerable Atlantean King with a extensive vocabular that he shows off and is short fused which I think Wolverine may have borrowed.

I'm pretty sure it was, but I could easily be wrong.

It was explained way back in the early issues of the ongoing started by John Byrne (I don't remember how many years ago that was).
Always loved Subby, I first started collecting comics when the Avengers/Defenders war was out. It just came out collected in HC, I highly recommend!

Photojones is correct, he is not bi-polar but if he is out of the water for a very long time he goes insane and/or loses his memory, both times this has happened, Namor has been found with long hair and a full beard so it apparently takes months for this to happen.

But now he has a monitor that tells him when he needs to return to the water and he also has a suit that keeps him from needing water. It is explained in an arc in the Namor, The Submariner series Czar Colossus mentioned from the early 90's. I have the series but am too lazy to look through the closet for books. He was found crazy and without a memory in FF #4 and was dropped back in the ocean by Johnny Storm.

Oh yeah, I forgot that Koryak wanted to kill Orin initially, too. :o

That's what I was thinking too :woot:

But seriously, despite the Koryak rip-off, Sub-Mariner continues to be a damn good mini. I loved it when Namor ripped out Venom's tongue.

It's not really a rip-off, anyway. Lots of characters have disgruntled, long-lost children who want to kill them. I'm still enjoying the Sub-Mariner mini on the basis of its geopolitical backdrop and Namor's arrogant badassery.

At it's core, the mini is basically "Namor Pwns the MU". That's enough for my interest to be piqued. The politically charged plot is an added bonus.

"Namor pwns fake-Venom" was enough for me to love the last issue. "Namor verbally pwns Sue Richards" was a nice bonus.
