Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay - Animated Film

It's interesting that DC is willing to do a Batman-less Suicide Squad but they still wont do another Wonder Woman.

Trust me, dude. We're getting a Wonder Woman animated movie next year after Death of Superman. They just haven't announced it yet. Plus next Winter WW2 comes out, it'd be the perfect companion piece.

Yeah, I can't imagine a solo WW isn't happening after the kind of money she got. I think it's just a matter of how long the production period on these things are. I mean, this is hitting almost two years after the live action SS which, in spite of reviews, made good money. There has to be something on the horizon.

Yep... and apparently so is the upcoming Death of Superman.

That's... infuriating to hear.

They wanna take a second crack at that storyline, so they... tie it to a line of movies based around an initiative the comics ditched almost two years ago?

Goddammit, WB, I want '90s aesthetic! :argh:

Trailer.

Director - Sam Liu
Screenwriter - Alan Burnett
Executive Producers - Sam Register and James Tucker

What are the chances Copperhead and Bronze tiger make it out alive by the end of this film

Obligatory comment about the unsatisfactory animation quality and poor dialogue.

On Digital March 27th

4K/Blu-Ray/DVD April 10th

Sweet, not quite those character showcases I bet, but neat additions nonetheless.

These two interest me. It'll be interesting to compare The Death of Superman with Superman: Doomsday.

Yeah, its definitely different feeling, but again this is a movie that the live action suicide squad movie should have been.

Very unique story line, only driven by villains, some very "dry" parts, but I felt necessary to give some kind of grounding to the villains that so many movies lack now a days.

And
really surprised how many people they killed off!

I wanna watch but don't want to pay $20. I'll wait to rent it.

I thought the same about Assault on Arkham. Looking forward to catching this.

I really hope so. I love the 2009 movie.

I really liked Hell to Pay! The characters, story for the most part, tone, voice acting were pretty good! Also pretty brutal too!

Only problems were Tara Strong's Harley and Vandal Savage being wasted! Zoom is basically the main villain, but he's used pretty well!

I enjoyed the film. Not quite as good as Assault on Arkham, but a good film overall. It was pretty dark, bloody and violent, but it worked because it's a story about Task Force X and a bunch of bad guys or antiheroes teaming up to fight other psychopaths.

I agree with Pennywise that I wish Harley Quinn and Vandal Savage had a bit more to do. Zoom was pretty much the main villain, but he worked in that role. The writing at least made it believable how Zoom would work in this type of story.

A lot of characters did get killed off, but if you think about, there's easy fixes for all of that if they really want. I mean it is an animated universe about DC superheroes. Deaths rarely stick forever in comics.

I thought Christian Slater did a good job as Deadshot. Bronze Tiger was probably my favorite character.

Yeah, agreed on all accounts. I was surprised who they did choose to focus on, but they had a lot of throw-ins.

Was professor pyg, two-face etc really necessary? Couldn't they just have any old surgeon

I do find the risk they are taking with this movie to be quite charming in it's own right. I just don't know how the sales will be on this given the lack of main stream characters used in it. (Dead Shot / Harley)

Agreed on Pyg because I like that character. I mean Pyg even says anyone could've done that type of work on Savage. It didn't need to be him. And now Pyg is dead :( .

I will be curious to see how it does. But I think this was a good story for DC Animation to experiment on at least. Suicide Squad is probably low risk to try an R-rated story.

Justice League Dark though you had the benefit of it being Justice League and having Batman in it as a lead character.

While it is a definite downgrade in story/animation from the first one, it was ok. Though they killed A LOT of baddies in this. Not like it matters much since these films are very self contained so not as if we would see them in other movies but I was surprised that they just killed basically everyone and anyone.

I guess i'm the only that thinks this one was better than Assault on Arkham

I can see that. Loved how it connected to Flashpoint and got a couple deaths to feel tragic and other cases calculated. Harley here tho was a definite downgrade. That's the one that really stuck out like a sore thumb.
