Superboy's status?

So what was the problem with Kon? He wasn't a young Clark Kent and, like I said, barely anybody even called him Superboy anymore.

What bothers me is why connor had to die for said lawsuit reasons but SBP is still used fairly consistently. If this whole lawsuit thing is rubbish, then wouldn't of it made more sense for Bart to die in IC rather than Connor.

Hm...is it possible that DiDio may actually be telling the truth? That would be a shocker.

Honestly, I think everything with Kara just boils down to DC Head Honchos wanting to force down how "kewl" Kara is with the least amount of resistance. I mean, hell, if Superman accepts her, than what's to hate?

...besides everything?

That's hardly fair. Kara has her redeeming qualities. For example...

nevermind. :(

Exactly. Plus, Clark gave Conner a Kryptonian name from the house of El--Kon-El. Unless taking a person's last name means something entirely different on Krypton, that was a tacit agreement between the two of them that Clark viewed Conner as family, yet he still never treated Conner as well as he does Kara.
If you read the comic where he gave him the name he explains that his name comes from someone who wasn't related to the house of El but became like family to them.

Isn't that, like...the same thing?

Here's what it boils down to. Every single member of Superman's extended family...whether it's Conner, or John Irons, or Natasha Irons, or Linda Danvers, or bloody Power Girl...has had to earn it. They proved themselves worthy of his name, his legacy, his symbol through trial and tribulation and all that junk. They've been denied they've been tested, and all of these people just stood back up and tried again until they were finally accepted.

Then little miss Kara falls from the sky one day and then suddenly it's like she was meant to have all this. Without any work, without any anything. Like all those people who came before her were just unworthy fakes and she's just the real deal and everyone else was just, y'know, keeping her seat warm for her or something while she was on her way.

I agree with you 100% This thread has increased my Kara hate by 300%.

I'm especially pissed that having Kara around has led to DC pretending Linda never existed. When was the last time anybody mentioned her? Is Kara even aware that there was a Supergirl before her?

I doubt it. Power Girl mentioned it to Superman, but DiDio's stated policy is that Linda Danvers never existed. With this post-IC New Earth retcon-anything-you-want-without-repercussions bullsht, it's pretty much literally true.

Dan Didio is hardly aware of anything....:cmad::cmad::cmad:

It was stated in the very first issue that there were Supergirls before Kara.

Which would be cool except for, as ever, the total and absolute lack of any redeeming qualities.

I mean **** even when Superboy started out and he was kind of a dick, he was still at least likably kind of a dick.

No they havent but mentioning previous Supergirls is enough for me espically since some people at DC dont want Linda to exisist anymore.

That mention occurred before Infinite Crisis, which is the event that prompted DiDio to say that Linda never existed anymore. Linda herself appeared during the Superman/Batman book which Loeb also wrote but that was, yes, also before Infinite Crisis.

So, no, for all intents and purposes Linda Danvers never existed at DC. And because DiDio's current editorial policy is "We can change pre-Infinite Crisis continuity however the hell we want and it's just fine!", she's not coming back any time soon.

...DiDio's current editorial policy is "We can change pre-Infinite Crisis continuity however the hell we want and it's just fine!"...

Man, sometimes I don't know which company I hate more these days.

I read less of DC than I do Marvel, whereas before IC it was the other way around. So I guess by logical deduction, I hate DC more now. :(

There's definetely a drop in the quality of writing post - IC.

Even Didio has admitted that One Year Later sucked, hasn't he? He said something like, it could've been coordinated better, which we all know is Didio-code for "it sucked."

I enjoyed IC but I can't think of one OYL title that I actually preferred afterwards...

Green Arrow - sucked
Outsiders - sucked
Titans - ok...
Batman - ok...
Superman - sucked
Nightwing - sucked (then again, that's been sucking for awhile)
Superman/Batman - massively sucked
Flash - sucked (sad for me to say this, but i'm looking forward to All Flash)
Wonder Woman - who cares?
Green Lantern - same
52 - great and then it sucked
JLA - ehhh...it's ok...but could very soon suck
JSA - i like

this hurts my head...

Wonder Woman's OYL arc was actually pretty damn good. I'm expecting the final issue of it to come out one day...
