Comics Superman Comics Reccomendations

oh no. I disagree. Birthright is pretty good IMO but Man Of Steel is the essence itself of the character. It is the definition of Superman legend. Of course one can say it could be better and better but the main facts are here, explained and developed.
Anyway both worth the read!

Thanks for the info again Clarky, is it worth buying all 4 volumes of MOS as well as Birthright?

Also, does 'That Healing Touch' come immediately after 'Unconventional Warfare?'

Only the first TPB is actually Byrne's original MOS mini-series. The other volumes are just the follow-up stories that Byrne wrote which came afterwards. For example, Metallo's first appearance is actually from Superman #1, and not technically a part of the MOS story, but it is in the 2nd volume under the "MOS" title for some reason.

I think that's just a marketing ploy, personally.

So if all you want is the original MOS mini-series itself, only the first TPB is required. But if you want to see where the story elements set up in MOS eventually lead to, you can pick up the rest of Byrne's run in the other volumes.

Man Of Steel stuff is the best. 'Infinite City' is alot of fun and I loved Steve Rudes 'Worlds Finest'.

Superman: Secret Indentity was a great read.
Although, It can be argued if that is Superman.

I've read it as an alseworld. Very touching and entertaining nevertheless.

^I'll have a look at it then, just got Death Of and World Without A Superman so i'll be reading those next.

Plus, did anyone else find Infinite Crisis EXTREMELY confusing?

Not at all. I find it more lisible than the first crisis. But I admit it became more and more lisible approaching the end. I think they could have been more focused. I'm talking about the story because I find the art extremly confusing, yes. Not the artist fault, just than for an event like that they should have done one or 2 more issues. With less little cases and clearer pages . Sometimes, I find myself saying "oh they are killing someone here in the far far background. Who is it ? oh I know, only a major character. No sweat". The battle of Metropolis was too short I would have like to see a llittle more of what happen (not that I like violence) .
But to answer your question, aveitwithjamon, art apart, I don't find it confusing.

hey aveitwithjamon, have you read Lex Luthor : Man of Steel ? I don't remember if ever talked about it. It's a brilliant, brilliant, brilliant story. Since this is a recommendation thread I über-highly recommend you this one. Have you read it ?

If you truely want to read Superman - start with the Action Achive series. Get to know what S & S (Siegel and Shuster) started and grow from there. Absolutley there are some terrific stories from modern times to read but if your really want to learn and understand and apperciate the character - start with S & S - it would be like reading about JC and omitting the bible as a referncepoint - enjoy. - in fact bask in experience of Superman!

Wow. yeah sure bud. I agree but I was only talking about a book that I find excellent, that's all.

I think Godfall was cool. Not the amazing-type story but entertaining. Nevertheless, I loved the bad guy, I saw a good potential in him.
And you what do you think about Godfall ?

I love it.

Well, i never read the first crisis so maybe thats why i found it confusing.

I havent read it no, i've seen it a few times in the store and havent liked the look of it, is it really worth a read?

I love it.

I enjoyed Godfall as well, and Preus is a good villain IMO.

^Yeah, I agree. Not necessarily Kandor but a transformation of the story or something like that. I think he's a good villain (or at least has the potential for it) and I agree that he would suit well in the vision of B.Singer.
In fact I prefer Preus than Bizarro from the "evil twins of Superman" kind of villain. See what I mean ?

Yeah I know few years ago I was not a big fan of Lee Bermejo at all. But I assure you it worth the read. I find it extraordinary and more lisible than For Tomorrow. Anyway, if you have a way to read it somewhere, trust me, you will like it .... Well, I say this from what I see of you on the boards, so one could take my advice with a grain of salt .. :)
I mean, I know you like a lot "For Tomorrow". Same for me. So I think you will like "L.L : MoS" too.

Preus is the sort of villain I can imagine Bryan Singer using. Not neccesarily the whole Kandor storyline, but Preus himself. definetly.

I agree with you both, in fact I have suggested him a few times for the sequel, BUT, i think his back story in the comics is pretty much essential for the character's motivations IMO. Especially him being a cop who hates aliens.
