What if that kid that James is mentoring to be a photographer from the latest episode of Supergirl becomes the new Olsen type on the Superman show.

Then that would be in complete contradiction to what he was accusing Jimmy of doing and he'd be a hypocrite. He was saying something about needing to be there in that town where they needed to fight against corruption, which is why Jimmy moved back there. He can't now just get up and leave for Metropolis.

Gotta admit, after seeing how good Routh (still) looked in his KC Version of Superman, I was hoping that we would get a show with him as a lead instead.

To be honest, I'm still not fully sold on Tyler as Superman. Personality wise, he matches the character. But he has yet to really stand out to me in terms of having that IT Factor/Presence that some of his predecessors had in spades.

I'm hoping that hitting the gym, getting a better costume, and having some depth/layer added to his character will work wonders for his portrayal.

I'm also curious to see on whether he'll be allowed to be written as a leader/mentor to other heroes now that he has his own show as well. Since he had previously been treated as a special guest star, it left little to no room in allowing him to have that spotlight where he could be that leader figure to the heroes who were the leads of their own shows.

As long as this doesn't derail Superman's further appearances on the big screen, have at it & I'll even give it a chance for a few episodes.

I think they should switch his blue to a lighter blue like the KC suit that Routh is wearing. It also seems to be made of a better material. Would be nice if they got rid of the cape clasps as well.

Who should they get as Martha Kent? Presumably she will sometimes be called in for babysitting duties if both Lois and Clark are busy investigating or fighting crime. And I guess she is not going to be running for Senator this time round like in Smallville.

His suit was fine for his guest appearances, but it’s unacceptable for his own series. Time for an upgrade. Dude should definitely bulk up too, and we’ll be good to go.

Will he be inspired to have red underpants after seeing KC Superman? Maybe he might choose to honour him. Or maybe Crisis will change things so that wearing underpants on the outside is once again acceptable.

What’s to say that James isn’t the one who encourages him to do so. It would be like a year later aswell.

That sounds very superficial to me. If he looks better his portrayal would be better. His portrayal is good because of his performance.

Honestly, I think Tyler is kinda overrated in the role, specifically for the reasons you described. In addition to that, your Superman is going to look really good when the only other live action Supes is one of the most polarizing versions of the character.

Overrated is an overused word by people who don’t agree with others. Fact is Tyler’s Superman has been well received because people like him in the role. It has nothing to do with Cavill’s Superman been so polarising. Speaking from my own personal view I love Hoechlin’s Superman because he embodies a lot of what I love about the character. That has nothing to do with how I feel about Cavill’s (which I’m also a fan of btw). So it’s more a case of you don’t think he’s that great rather than he’s overrated.

I can see why others aren't 100% sold on Hoechlin as Superman as it can't be hard to connect to a character that rarely appears and for some fans I've heard that they feel he's been used to make Supergirl look good.

Personally I like his portrayal of the Clark Kent persona but I do hope that his Superman starts to stand out more as at times he feels like the 21st Century version of Christopher Reeve's Superman. I do do hope that they he gets a better costume and that he starts to bulk up as he's tiny compared to Routh or even Welling.

Well, it's Superman, it's Lois Lane, so I will be watching, at least the first few episodes. But if it drops in quality (assuming it's good), I'll have no problem dropping it like I dropped The Flash :hehe:
Likewise. I gave the other shows a chance, but other than Black Lightning and the crossovers I don't watch them anymore. I've been hoping for Hoechlin's Supes to get his own show so I'll certainly give it a good chance.

I’m not saying people have to like him but to say that he’s overrated when people are praising him because you don’t feel that way isn’t right. Especially when you’re claiming those that do like him so much only do so because another take is so polarising.

I personally love him in the role as both Clark & Superman. But I know not everyone’s gonna feel that way. I wouldn’t say if he was been majority criticised that he was underrated.

I actually find it funny when people talk about his size aswell he’s in fantastic shape. He’s just not built like a body builder.

I have nothing personal against Hoechlin but in Supergirl they basically switched roles were Supergirl is the symbol of hope and Superman is just there and every time he shows up it's just to prop up Supergirl more and hammer home that fact. And if that's what they want to do fine but to have a Superman series set in that world you're for the most part going to have to rewrite the whole history of that Universe where it is Superman who inspires the formation of the Legion, who is friends and has a close relationship with Flash and Green Arrow and inspires hope. That's why I personally don't want to see a CW Superman show based off of this Superman. He has given me no reason to care for him. But then again the Supergirl show has really turned me off as well. That's why I say they should just start everything over in Max and go from there.

I guess Crisis could at least be used to give an explanation for that.

They’re not gonna start a successful universe from scratch again. That would be a dumb business decision that would get whoever OK’d it fired. Fans sometimes project too much of what they want rather than what’s logical on these properties.

I don’t get why they can’t just call the show Superman. It’s primarily going to be about him. Supergirl isn’t called Supergirl, Alex, John and Lena. It’s just Supergirl. The show name should always reflect the titular character of said show in my opinion.

As much as I’m on board for this, I do wonder whether it’ll have any effect on the Supergirl ratings. I’m further intrigued to see how different it’ll be when you factor in how similar Superman and Supergirl are in terms of abilities.

So by that logic, Lois is obviously as important to the show as Superman. That’s why her name is in the title.

Superman and Lois sharing a title ain’t exactly a new thing, either. And Lois has headlined comics herself. She’s a big name. She’s not Alex Danvers. She Lois ****ing Lane, arguably the most famous woman in all of comics-dom.

I think more than anything the title is meant to convey up front where the two are in their lives in the series.

This isn't the story of how Clark becomes Superman.

This isn't the story of Clark falling in love with Lois, Lois falling in love with Superman, Clark revealing the secret, etc.

This is Superman, already established, with Lois, who is already his wife and well aware of his secret.

If Supergirl’s NOT on its last season when this debuts (a big “if” which depends entirely on Melissa and her contract), then they’d be wise to use this show as its lead-in, and give them several crossovers in the first season. Should give that show a nice ratings boost, as Superman’s appearance has always done. Hell, give them a whole intertwined storyline and do Brainiac/New Krypton properly or something.

They WELL-established Superman was all of those things before Supergirl ever showed up, and was the most beloved champion of Earth for the last 15 years, with monuments and parks built in his name and entire new government agencies started because of him, so this is a bunch of nonsense. Supergirl had to spend an entire season just getting out of his shadow and establishing herself as her own hero. Flash and Green Arrow haven’t known him long, but they both already look up to him (they’ve never really revered Kara like that - they treat her like their little sis). The one thing I’ll give you is the Legion, but I associate Supergirl more with them in the comics these days anyway with her headlining titles with them and spending time in the future with them, so that change actually kinda made sense to me. But more importantly to your point, that future where the Legion came from had been wiped out by the Blight causing a massive information blackout for years, and so they had no records of Superman - the only reason they knew about Kara was because of Mon-El, who accidentally time-travelled there (and was in love with her at the time). They stopped the Blight threat from ever happening, so that future no longer exists, and Superman can now be a known inspirational figure to them. And considering he already has a Legion ring in the Fortress, I’m sure that will likely be the case.

I had a feeling that I would be seeing you here soon. You always come around when I have something to say about Supergirl. :cwink:

Either the way my feelings won't change about this show. I see it the way you see MOS and BvS
