Metropolis harbor: early morning.

Lois and jimmy are covering the launch of a new state of the art ocean liner. A huge 1,200 foot, 100,000 tonne behemoth, and they will have a front row seat.
The ship is going to take a short jaunt around Metropolis harbor, then out to sea for a bit so all the reporters and dignitaries onboard ( over 1,000 of them) can see first hand just how advanced and luxurious it is.

The launch goes off without a hitch and the short excursion is under way.

Lex-Corp:

Lex Luthor watches the launch on several huge flat screen TVs from Lex-corp tower. Mercy, his bodyguard, stands behind him.
Once the ship makes it out of the harbor and hits the open sea, Lex hits a button on a laptop. He glances at Mercy with stone cold emotion. she does the same back.

Outside Metropolis Harbor:
The crowd onboard the cruise ship is really enjoying themselves. Live music plays in the background. Little children run too and fro. Money is everywhere.
Suddenly, three explosions ring out and the ship shakes violently.

Screams and panic erupt. Ship wide alarms blair out and heavy smoke soon fills the air.

The way the explosions were rigged causes the superliner to start sinking fast. people rush to life boats but the ship is already listing.

Metropolis, street level:
Clark Kent is walking along a sidewalk headed to a job interview at the Daily planet.
He's wearing a dark blue suit, hat, and glasses. Its the first time he has ever worn the disguise out in public. His shoulders are slightly slumped to complete the overall look.
He makes his way through the crowd and starts to enter the daily planet. He stops, takes a deep breath, and reaches for the door when suddenly, he pauses....

Camera zooms in and onto his ear..he hears something off in the distance, something faint.
He closes his eyes and blocks out everything but the one thing he seeks. There, he has it.
He hears screams, fire, steel creaking and breaking, and lots of pleas for help.

Clark withdraws his hand from the door and looks around......he spots an alley and runs to it. He reaches up and pulls at his shirt. Buttons pop off it as he rips it open and we see the classic \S/ up close. (This will be the shirt rip we should have gotten in SR. With a slow, powerful instrumental to go along with it)

Ocean:
The coast guard and volunteer civilian ships are rushing as fast as they can to the scene, but the ship is going down too fast. They wont make it in time.
Jimmy, ever the photographer, is snapping pics at the same time he is trying to save his own life. Lois has grabbed up a small child, a little girl, that has gotten separated from her parents. The smoke is thick now and choking. People trip and fall all around in a panic.

The liners bow starts to go under. Lois, still holding the child, and numerous other passengers head away from the oncoming water, but fire above is also a danger to them and they are blocked from going any higher.
There is No time to get more lifeboats in the water. Lois and Jimmy look at each other, the kinda look people give when they know they're going to die. She holds the little girl tight and closes her eyes. Jimmy wraps his arms around them both and braces. The ship is at such an angle now that its impossible for people to stand. It pauses, then starts to slide completely under.

Suddenly, the fire and smoke subsides. The ship also stops sliding under the water and rights itself. In fact, it reverses its downward motion completely and starts to rise. Lois opens her eyes and stands. Water is pouring off the bow and over the side.

Lois, confused, looks over the rail. They're over 300 feet above the water at least.
The ship is floating, no, its flying. Its actually flying over the water she thinks to herself.
Is this what they meant by advanced she wonders.

She also sees a few lifeboats did make it off, and the coast guard is arriving onsite.

Lex-corp:
Lex is extremely pleased. He is a silent partner in this venture. He stands to make close to 700 million dollars off the sinking of this ship..the explosives are not traceable, and he only hires the BEST people to work for him...he smiles, gets up, and walks to the window with drink in hand and looks out at the view of the city and the harbor before him......Its mine, all mine he smirks.

The camera zooms in on Lex's face. He takes a drink, the ice clinks in his glass.
Suddenly, his features change. Gone is the smirk. His color turns white, his mouth drops open, and he drops his drink.
The camera turns and lets us see what Lex sees. To see what it is that has shocked Lex so. There, in the distance, is his ocean liner flying above the water. The ship comes into the harbor, dwarfing nearby skyscrapers.
It hovers over the piers for a moment and finally lands on solid ground.

Lex grabs his coat and rushes out with mercy following close behind..

Metropolis harbor:
A scene of utter chaos. A man, apparently in charge, is on a radio shouting at someone, something about ships can't fly you idiot, check again.
News helicopters circle overhead.
On the ground sirens blair all around. fire, police, EMS, and port authority personnel are everywhere. They're preparing for the arrival of any survivors brought in by the coast guard when someone shouts out, ''look, up in the sky!!.''
They all turn and see the ship coming toward them in the air and are amazed. Some run in fear. A few take pictures with their camera phones, but Even more amazing is HOW the ship is flying. There underneath, is a man in blue and red carrying the massive ship on his back.
Clark looks down and shouts out in a booming voice to the men and women below to make him some room so he can sit the ship down.

The rescue personnel oblige. Tires screech as fire trucks, ambulances, and police cars get out of the way.

Clark hovers there for a moment to make sure everyone is out of the way, and slowly sits the huge ship down on solid ground. Its too big to sit in the space below and each end rests on top of abandoned warehouses, crushing them flat. He'll remove it and clean up the mess later when they need him too.
As the ship settles down, the silent crowd of rescuers look at each other then erupt into applause. Clark is embarrassed. He holds up his hand and smiles a sheepish smile.

He turns and makes makeshift escape ramps from the pier for the passengers. They all rush off, but are still not sure what has happened.

Lois and jimmy come down one of the homemade ramps. The little girl Lois is carrying spots her mother and hops down. She gives Lois a hug and rushes to her mother. Jimmy takes a picture of the scene.

Lois turns and sees the man in blue and red hovering above. Jimmy sees him as well and snaps away. Lois is amazed. she asks a police officer standing nearby who or what he is. The officer tells her he doesn't know, but he somehow saved the ship and passengers.

Clark satisfied that all the injured are safely off the Ship, turns, looks down and sees Lois for the very first time. Their eyes lock. Lois's heart skips a beat. So does Clark's. He smiles at her and waves. She waves back clumsily.
Jimmy looks at Lois and grins. All the other reporters start to scramble and try to film Clark.

The reporter in Lois finally kicks in and she wonders who? how? and what? as Clark flies off. What a SUPER man she thinks. Then says to herself, hey not bad Lois, not bad at all. Superman huh. Hmmmm, I like it.
Then, she turns her attention to the ship and what caused the explosions.

As Clark is flying off, he reaches inside his cape and pulls out a tightly folded business suit to check it for damage. No damage at all. ''I still have time for my interview'' he thinks as he flies back toward the direction of the D.P.

straight rawness!!!!!... except for the suit in the cape deal lol

Thanx, and yeah FP, I like Fleischer...

what do you mean fleicher opening, something like from its theme song?

He didn't really say but i'm thinking he meant a reboot.

OK, Thanks... I think I've got a great idea for an opening scene.

Bring it lol... I love reading some good ideas.

oh ok i havent seen enough of fleicher stuff only a few clips here and there so i didnt get what you meant.

I need to work on it, but I've been brewing some ideas for Superman's debut where he takes out a bunch of robots that were created by Dr. Emmit Vale (who created Metallo as well), very much in the same vein as Max Fleischer's Superman vs. the Metal Monsters cartoon. Basically, the robots would have been created to explore harsh environments like the bottom of the sea or the surface Mars or even asteroids, but the plug on Vale's grant got pulled. Out of desperation to continue his work, Vale decides to send the robots to rob a bank for him, and then Superman shows up to beat the crap out of them.

i know its hard to think of something good at times the cartoons/tv shows/donner's film all had some good interesting first public saves. So i dont know how i would handle that one myself.

It will be damn near impossible to have a introduction scene for superman without comparing it to some other film.
All they can do is make sure its the best it can be.

I wish I would became a superman. Thanks for sharing.

totally man hopefully what ever it will be it would look great, and have some good action/story behind it.

Here's the problem with Superman... What we know and love about the character wasn't invented by the comics; it was by Richard Donner in 1978 (aesthetic, tone). Superman: The Movie is basically the origin of modern Superman. Any new film has to compete with that (Returns). The only way I see the project going anywhere is if DC or the Shuster/ Siegel estate reimagine the character completely. Taking the character back to his roots in Action Comics #1 with a darker/realistic tone would be a profitable venture given today's audience.

i dont think that is the problem its first the darn legal things, and then the execs cant decide on a direction. When there is plently of story/character traits they can take from all eras of the character and make an original story from. But all the exec have different ideas on what they think is how the character to go. Plus i dont think doing a total reinvention to superman would go over well.

So...70 pages into the script, my computer crashed.

It's times like this that I wish things were stored in crystals.

I have everything important from it memorizes, but...I'm seriously considering just putting the synopsis for the script on here and being done with it.

Arghhh.

I might actually start writing a script myself since we are never getting a Superman movie.
I had an idea to introduce a certain John Henry Irons as an Engineer working for S.T.A.R Labs. During the climactic battle, he attacks the villain Metallo with a sledgehammer (In the comics it was Doomsday *wink*)

The sequel to this would have a tag team battle with Superman & Steel VS. Parasite & Livewire. Lana Lang dies in Superman's arms after Livewire fries her with electricity. Parasite forces him to watch.... yeah... I have a sick mind...
