Superman Reboot Writers Workshop

well,eh...I dont think people care about hearing/seeing that lex is relieved about taking a crap..

I'm basically trying to add some humour to the film... you know, try and spice things up a bit? Anyway - MUST. TRY. HARDER.

I would have had Kitty distract the pilot and Lex comes out and kills him or knocks him out.

Ah, lighten up people.

EXT. OUTSIDE DAILY PLANET
A woman stomps into the entrance of the Daily Planet. Behind her, is a man carrying some bags. The camera moves upwards. Clark Kent appears, looking rather unsure and nervous. Ahead of him is Lois, approaching the lift.

She enters the lift. Her hand pushes against the button, she waits for Clark to enter. She finally presses the button - the doors close. The sound of the music makes the uneasy silence less tense for Clark.

CLARK
So, looking forward to work?

Lois grudgingly turns to Clark.

LOIS
Yeah.

Clark forces a smile. The lift doors open. The offices and the sound of phone calls transpire in front of them. They exit the lift.

Clark puts the bags beside Lois' desk. He wanders where Lois has gone - he checks the room, using his x-ray vision to look through a few offices as he exercises his eyes around the room. Eventually, he notices that she has already made her way to Perry's office.

Someone taps Clark on the shoulder. The hunched Clark turns around to see Jimmy smiling. He is holding some papers.

JIMMY
Hey, Clark. Do you think you could type
these documents up for me?

Clark recieves the papers. He checks them - the handwriting is almost unreadable.

JIMMY
My handwriting's appaling.

Jimmy laughs nervously whilst Clark's eyebrows raise.

CLARK
I'll ... give it a go.

Jimmy pats Clark on the shoulder.

JIMMY
Thanks. Perry says you could type a
whole newspaper inside five minutes,
so ... yeah, just give it a go.

This was much better than the stuff you first wrote. Keep it up. :yay:

EXT. HELICOPTER

The helicopter wanders over outskirts of Metropolis.

LEX
Hey, where are you going?

PILOT
I'm going to the Police Department -
you're a wanted man.

Lex's face turns to stone.

LEX (low tone)
Excuse me?

PILOT
I'm sorry - I'm just doing my duty.
If you're lucky, they won't charge
you because - Whoa!

Lex pushes against the steering wheel. Kitty panics and tries to restrain Lex.

KITTY
Lex! Stop!

The helicopter takes rapid turns and it squeels in midair.

KITTY
You're going to get us all killed!

The Pilot and Lex try to grasp the steering wheel. Suddenly, Lex eyes a crow bar near the back of the Chopper. He stops fighting for the wheel.

PILOT
My god, what are you thinking?

LEX
I know ... I'm sorry ...

Lex picks up the crow bar.

KITTY (whispers)
Lex?

Lex's eyes are fixed on the Pilot who is glancing at Lex every so often.

PILOT
I'm still turning you in~

Lex hits the Pilot on the head with the crow bar. The chopper begins to drift downwards, heading for a road in Metropolis. Lex shifts the body, and takes full control of the helicopter.

KITTY
You better do something quick, Lex.

Kitty looks out of the window to see the helicopter falling towards a Metropolis road.

Lex concentrates on the wheel. He clicks a few gadgets, and the helicopter suddenly shoots upwards and into the air.

Lex laughs triumphantly.

LEX
Next stop ... Lexcorp Labs.

The helcopter drifts off into the distance.

EXT. DAILY PLANET OFFICES

Clark stands beside his desk with his hand in his pockets. Richard, Lois' current lover, sits at his desk staring at Clark curiously.

The brown-haired man soon approached.

RICHARD
Good morning.

CLARK
Morning.

RICHARD
Have you noticed anything different
about Lois lately?

Clark's eyes narrow as they both look into Perry's office where Lois is located.

RICHARD
She's been acting kinda strange. Everytime
I mention Jason, or work, or Superman,
she gets all defensive. You haven't noticed?

CLARK
No ... not really.

RICHARD
Ah well, see ya' around. And speak to Lois,
try to find out whats bothering her.

Clark smiles unenthusiastically. Richard returns to his desk.

Lois exits Perry's office. She brushes past Clark and hurries over to her desk.

CLARK
So, Lois ...

Lois continues to search through some files.

CLARK
How's Jason?

Lois impatiently turns her head to Clark.

LOIS
He's fine, Clark. Maybe we can catch up
on things later?

CLARK
Sure, sure ... No problem.

Clark slowly turns his body away from Lois, leaving her to scurry through her files. He looks around the room to see Jimmy waving. He does a typing gesture. Clark smiles clumsily, remembering the documents he has to type up. He waves a hand at Jimmy apologetically.

Clark sits, reading the documents. His facial expression says it all - he cannot read a word of the handwriting. He sits and thinks for a few moments, measuring his thoughts. He stands up once more to see Jimmy looking around the room. Clark begins to wave at Jimmy who is not yet looking. Eventually, Jimmy notices Clark, and smiles. Clark's waving hand looses it's rhythm.

Jimmy walks over.

JIMMY
What's up?

CLARK
Well, it's difficult to read the ...

Clark and Jimmy look at the documents.

CLARK
The handwriting. Can you yourself even
read this?

Jimmy puts his hand onto his chin, considering the handwriting.

JIMMY
Erm ...

Jimmy takes the papers.

JIMMY
Thanks anyway, Clark.

EXT.
Lex Luthor sits, with his head in his hands, inside a large complex room. Kitty stands on a stool searching through a book-shelf.

LEX
He destroyed my dream again ...
again! I'm running out of ideas,
Kitty and soon we're going to be
broke! Hey, have you found anything?

KITTY
No.

LEX
Well, c'mon, find something! I need
something inventive ... something
irregular ... something which will take
that scumbag by surprise.

Kitty notices a book named Evolutionary Upper-Class Science. She picks it out.

Kitty walks over to Lex and plants the book on the desk in front of him. He reads the cover.

LEX
Evolutionary Upper-Class Science.

Lex reads through the first thew pages. He then looks up at Kitty.

LEX
What is this?

KITTY
You asked me to find you a book.

LEX
Yes, a book which can help me kill
Superman - not a book which tells
me about upper-class Science!

Lex flicks through the pages. One page takes his eye. His head lowers so he can read the text. The title is called Duplicating Rays.

Lex reads a paragraph.

LEX
Kitty ...

Kitty is now filing her nails beside a desk.

KITTY
What, Lex?

LEX
Have I ever told you that I love
you?

KITTY
No.

LEX
Well, it's your lucky day. I love
you.

KITTY
Have you found something?

LEX
Possibly. Have you ever heard
of a duplicating ray?

Lex grins.

I know alot of you will hate this idea, but I think there should be a prequel to Superman Returns. I know SR was supposed to be set after superman 1 and 2, but I think this would work way better.
You could have the 1st 45 minutes or so being about Krypton, and Jor-El tracking down and capturing Zod, and maybe even Jax-Ur. I would really like to see Zod being responsible for the destruction of Krypton, and maybe explain that Argo City was intensionally undestroyed so that Zod would survie. This could also setup for Supergirl in a sequel.
What do you all think?

Well that would through off the whole Marlon Brando thing if you have a new flick with a new Jor-El, if they would've done that, they may as well should have done a restart in the first place.

That would be a stupid idea.

I disagree. I think it would be really cool, and it was Bryan Singer who mucked it all up when he did a sequel that left ou 3 and 4. I know alot of people didn't like the films, but he should've just started new.

Yeah, he should've. But at this point, it makes no sense to go back.

They should just do something like an Animated series or animated shorts about SR's origin to tie with the next film.

It's not worth redoing it as it is similar to Donner's history from Superman I with only some minor differences.

The idea is ok, just not in a movie. I think you need to go with an animated series.

hmm, maybe a movie isn't the best idea, but I don't think many people would watch the animated series. What about a live actio tv series? Do you think that would work?

It's tough to say if it would work. If it doesn't have Superman in it, it won't be very popular. Smallville dealt with his path of becoming the man of steel. I don't even think that a tv series could pull it off.

Bryan Singer mucks up everything!! :cmad:

Yeah, he should've. But at this point, it makes no sense to go back.

I agree!! :hyper:

Um, where's superman in this prequel (whats a prequel??) ?? A superman movie without supermna would suck!! :o

of course it would have superman in the prequel! How could you not know what a prequle means? i just mean a superman movie to replace superman 1 and 2 so that it would make more sense with returns.

^^ oh sorry!! but u didnt mention bout suoerman being in the prequel. n i donno wat a prequel means b/c english is not my language!!

I had a similar idea, only it was more of a 'Return To Krypton' thing with Kal-El and Lois actually ending up ON Krypton several months before its destruction, retracing what happened to Zod to make him cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs. Oh, and Brainiac was involved, too (as a Coluan AI that took root on various planets over the ages, having now settled on Krypton).

it makes more sense then watching it by it self, but there are some errors in the time line, and how superman could have a superchild.
