Dude, Donner is 77 yrs. old & will be 78 on April 24th. He is almost pushing 80 in 2 yrs. from now. He is way older than Spielberg, Scott, DePalma, etc.
That mentality is what is killing the film business. The more experience you gain with age, the better you are...ESPECIALLY as a director or writer.
Nah. It not what killing the business. I'm not saying we should get some very young director like 21 of age, but we shouldn't get a guy who is almost 80 to do a big action film. Not to mention with how long it been since he direct Superman, it wouldn't work anymore. Plus, he made some of STM very campy, that I wouldn't want it again.
Yeah he may not do it, but to call a director too old is ridiculous.
It's not ridiculous when the man is almost 80. You ever heard any man that is old as 80 done anything big action film that is like Superman & require $200 millions or more? Sure there might have been directors of that age still making films, but that on film that is drama type & not big action film like Superman.
Is Spielberg too old for Superman? Is Ridley Scott too old? Is DePalma too old? Is Francis Ford Coppolla too old? Is James Cameron too old????
Like I said, those men aren't too old compare to Donner. Weak.
And Coppolla is not a director that make film like Spielberg, Cameron, etc. btw. He do more on story telling that don't need action.
Come on man be realistic. This youth centric world is getting out of hand. Kids can't run everything.
When did I said kids should run the movie business? I may say Donner is too old, but it doesn't mean I want 20ish to do Superman.
