All the pieces of the puzzle are pretty much there - we could get word on who the new Luthor is any day now
Nice. This is something I would be there for on day 1.

I want the new Lex to be in the Rosenbaum mold. Dude is still the best Lex by miles. The new guy needs to be suave and charismatic. Someone that could be the greatest superhero in the DC Universe if not for his hubris.

Stay the **** away from anything resembling Eisenberg’s Lex, and they’ll be good.
Yeah, he’s my favourite. An older version of him could be great.

Feels like a no brainier to do a Superman show with him now. I guess it would just be WB’s film considerations getting in the way.
As much as I liked Cavill's Superman and didn't want him to go, as time's gone on I've cared less and less about whether he stays or not (tbh, if I could only have one or the other I'd rather keep Affleck as Batman). I've no problem with them benching Superman for a while from the big screen if it means we get a quality Superman show with Hoechlin.

I just don’t want it to be dependent on what happens on film. Whether we get a great Supes on film or not, I see no reason to not go full steam ahead with a Hoechlin solo show and make it as good as it can be.

If they could (and did!) do it regardless of what's happening with the film situation that would be great.

It’s become a cliche to say this now, but that picture of Tyler is more Superman than Cavill was in three whole movies.
I wanted to tell you that this is a ridiculous thing to say but I’m also sitting here thinking that this Lois is already better than what we got with Amy Adams based on this one picture:funny:

Adams as Lois was the only DCEU casting that really jarred with me, right from the get-go. Even Eisenberg's Luthor didn't bother me as much.

I would’ve preferred Rashida Jones or Mila Kunis (don’t kill me!)

I don't want any Lex like Gene Hackman or Kevin Spacey either.

I wanted to like her but it just never happened. :funny:
There’s nothing special about her as Lois and if I’m honest she just seems cold and lifeless most of the time.

Ohhhh
I wouldn’t mind Mila Kunis at all. :hmm

The one we need

How old should Lex be?

A similar age to Superman? Or older? The one in the animated series didn't seem so young but older than Superman.

If they didn't mind going a bit older, they could cast someone like Billy Zane. He sounds a bit like Clancy Brown and could give off a similar vibe. Imagine him playing a similar role to what he played in Titanic. Plus he's bald these days, which would save on shaving his head like Rosenbaum had to do.

But the only problem is that didn't Zane already play PT Barnum in Legends of Tomorrow? Although he was a bit more made up for that part so didn't look like he does above.

Looking at these together is making me laugh.

The clear difference in tone in just a couple pictures.

Cavill and Adams look like a brother and sister being forced to take a picture together.

Well there was even more chemistry between Gal and Amy. In fact, they slept together. :o

And Cavill's hair can in no way match Hoechlin's Superman hair.

Cavill looks like he's protecting Adams from a sketchy looking guy offscreen. Hoechlin looks like he's watching the big game on a TV in the corner of the Fortress of Solitude, and Tulloch is glancing over to see what has his attention. Lois and Clark, now that's a show whose promotional shots had them being interested in each other and taking a photo together.

Lois and Clark had the best promotional shots of them of any live action Superman. They weren't even in costume all the time. Some were just of Dean Cain in a muscle T-shirt. Then there were those of Teri Hatcher wrapped only in Superman's cape. They really need to take some pics similar to that to promote this series.

Also, I think they could probably get away with casting someone like Billy Zane even if he has played PT Barnum. First off, Legends is such a wacky show that it wouldn't matter. And second, there's the whole multi-verse concept where an actor can play more than one character.

We've had John Wesley Shipp playing both Henry Allen and Jay Garrick and now 90s Flash who is Barry Allen. That means that on Earth 38, it doesn't matter that Lex looks like PT Barnum from another earth.

Lois and Clark doesn’t get mentioned enough. That show had pitch-perfect portrayals of Lois and Clark.

Also, Billy Zane would be a huge coup. It wouldn’t be hard to get him. He would absolutely crush it too. I never wanted him for the movies because I think star power really factors more there. This is tv, where performance is all that matters.

It can't be that hard to get him since he's not exactly doing much. Plus they already got him for Legends of Tomorrow for that guest role. For TV, he'd be spot on. Look at him here.

If you listen to his voice in the 2nd clip, he's like a proper live action Clancy Brown Lex.

The biggest barrier I would say is his age. He's 52. Brenda Strong is 58. That's only a 6 year difference. However, maybe you might not be able to tell Zane's age since he has a bald head.

I'd rather they gave us an older Lex who was like the animated series version even if they have to fudge the ages than a younger Lex who might not do as well. We'll have to see though. Rosenbaum was younger but still had gravitas.

My only “problem” with the SG version of the picture is it seems like they snapped the picture right as Hoechlin was about to change expression or something, because his smile doesn’t reach his eyes at all and it’s kinda jarring.

They could actually still connect Supergirl and Krypton. Krypton deals heavily with time travel, perhaps the Krypton timeline is just a product of Adam Strange messing with the timeline. Perhaps the two timelines could align

The next question is ....theme music.

I love the Zimmer theme, but nothing beats the classic Williams Superman theme, it's epic and just says " Superman !" best superhero theme music ever. Hope they use at least part of it if a CW series goes ahead.

Billy Zane would make a fantastic Lex.
I’m excited to see who they cast and how they’ll write the character.

You know,
Thinking of a Superman show as an actual possibility makes me really hate their take on Jimmy Olsen :funny:
I didn’t mind him as he was in supergirl but I’d want something much more classic for an actual Superman show.
