She has a larger role than Jameson and will be in more than one movie. Gwen will be back...Jameson won't...unless they go Manwolf but I pray they don't. I think Gwen had a couple of scenes that were cut anways and would fit in along the lines of MJ and her friend talking about her engagement in SM2.1 That scene added way more depth to her than what we got in theatres.

Yeah, Gwen will definitely return, and will probably be a more prominent character. But as far as this movie goes, Gwen was used just like John Jameson: the third part of the love triangle. Even Raimi admitted to giving Gwen a small role just for the purpose of introducing her.
