'Sword of Truth' aka Legend of the Seeker

^The whole series is up on Hulu

It does not...I have to wait for the season to come out on DVD and I am really questioning whether I should submit myself to the dissappointment

From the bookfans complaints I've read, If you can seperate the books from the series then you're ok. They apparently completely butcher the plots and take stuff randomly from other parts. I have no idea who the Mud people are but they are important apparently but they haven't shown up 17 episodes in. Otherwise, I'd wait until they start broadcasting in Europe. They are expanding into international markets slowly.

they took something that was a conversation between Richard and Kahlan (male Confessors) and turned it into an episode.....Ive read the series, but the show itself stands on its own adequately enough....I have friends who had no clue it was based on a series of books and enjoy it

You read the books? Then don't waste your money on buying the DVDs. Each episode the continuity gets more and more twisted that
you'll want to gouge your eyes out at the horror. Its awful if you've read the books, good if you haven't

How does Kahlan call up the con dar in the TV show. I am a big fan of the books but have never seen the series as it is not broadcasted here.
She does(in a way that is not nearly as clever or interesting as the books) But its not really that cool looking. When she uses her power there isint even the "silent thunder" effects like there are in the book, her pupils just get big. So the Con Dar is just her with reddish eyes holding her hand out to people, no lightening

It was in the first couple episodes she used it.....kind of like a ripple....

I can say for someone who has never read the books, the show is very entertaining.

I especially liked yesterdays episode, as it showed not all the D'Haran's are mindless evil bastards, and that the rebels can be just as ****ed up as the D'Harans.

Agreed! I never read the books and really enjoy the show.

I need gifs of Kahlan in that Mord Sith outfit :O

gotcha....I thought he was just talking regular....I misread
But even when she uses her regular power there should be silent thunder that physically knocks surrounding people back. The con dar had that effect in the addition to a blue lightening that she could manipulate manually( like blow up the screeling in the second book)

Plus D'Harans should be HUGE and blond haired and blue eyed. Why did they give Darken Rahl a dark complection?! :cmad:

because he's a villain and they need to visually display that to the audience....he's still creepy....

not all D'Harans.....its not like every person in Switzerland has blonde hair and blue eyes.....

Yeah I know but its a common trait. I don't really care that they dont have to soldiers look like that but Darken Rahl should of at least been the creepy blondhaired guy he was

I guess....having read the entire series, Darken Rahl seems almost minor IMO....I know he's the bad guy right now.....

How many books are in the series? I'm tempted to read them, but feel they'll ruin my current enjoyment of the show.

11 books in the series....first book released in 1994....last one in 2007

you are welcome....its the first fantasy series I ever read....picked up the first book in paperback when I was in HS....I want to be ON Bridget Regan....

Be warned Lobo If you read the books it will effect how you like the show....alot, if your like me :(

He pretty much is a minor character. He's the villain in the first and barley in the second. The main villain of the series is the Imperial Order/Jagang and maybe the Sisters of the Dark. Although I havn't read past NE yet so I dunno if he comes back.

I put some nice gifs of her in the gif thread :D

I'm a fan of the books and I gotta say the show is just butchery. Like last week they introduce Richard's sister (who shows up in the 6th book) and they say they have the same mother while in the books it's the same father. Doesnt sound like a big deal but it actually is when you learn who their real parentage is. I watch it if it's on but I don't go out of my way to see it because it just pisses me off.

Heck, Richard does not even look like Richard from the book (think young Superman, even Routh wanted to play Richard at one point).
