'Sword of Truth' aka Legend of the Seeker

Um, no.. I never made any such comparison. I simply asked for a logical explaination for which I still have not gotten.
um, ok....are your panties always in such a twist? lighten up.
the logical explanation would be that, in the show, they havent really put too much relevance in the prophecy as they did in the book, whil int he show we see that every town, village they go to they know richard as the seeker, mainly by the sword and later by word of mouth and so on, he has liberated a few cities so far, the show has not shown the dharan army to be as mean as they are in the books, or at least as evil as rahl is is the show as he is in the book, so those that watch the show and have not read the books would not think that the army would come back to those cities and destroy them, not to mention that sounds more like the orders way of doing things than rahl's since he was more focused on the boxes than anything else to care. and in the show, rahl knows what richard has been doing in the cities and he knows that people know the seeker is back and working to stop him, hope is being brought back to the midlands, and in the show it seems this concerns rahl. so when denna is given the job of getting the seeker, she thus tells richard that rahl wants him to be "taught" to be on his side than to be brought before the people and say that he is on rahls side, thus banishing all aspects of hope. now if this was being made closer to the books none of this would matter b/c no one in the midlands even knew who or what a seeker was, they met maybe 2 people who did along the way. and rahls intention of getting richard was b/c yes he knew the prophecy and he knew richard had the book or at least knew where it was, blah blah, he knew the seeker was the only who could stop him. so thus, why i think you are not seperating knowledge of the books and watching the show. i know its hard i wish they could have kept to the books but they obviously have not.

I liked this most recent episode that does at least faithfully interpret one subplot from the books in some respects. It does use Zedd in place of another wizard character.

Good to see Craig Parker again as Darken Rahl. I like that Rahl has a penchant for killing people by cutting their wrists and then using their blood to write in his journey book. I like Parker as Rahl, it's a good role for him.

First of all Darken Rahl raised an army to kill a bunch of little children in Brennidon. Yeah I'm sure nothing will be done about the ppl of that town now after they killed D'haran occupiers. lol. It would make perfect sense that Rahl would want to incourange rebellion among all the other villages or cities he holds.

What cities has he liberated? He helped the ppl of Brennidon to their deaths but aside from that what are you and vileone talking about. Please name these mysterious cities. I'd like to know.

As for ppl recognizing Richard as the seeker there is a simple explaination. They must recognize the sword. This is a no brainer. Therefore anyone can hold the sword or something similiar and be the seeker, real or not. So why again does he need Richard specifically? You see how logic is a wonderful thing?

ok, the other towns they helped, in elixir (ep.6)they helped the ppl by taking away the wizard making all the potions and made the ppl work for themselves, in identity(ep.7) they helped the town there that was being controled by soldiers and helped the newlywed couple fall in love, not that they matter, and of course they helped in brennidon, that was episode 5, and while there, there was also that village of ppl kahlan stayed and did her supposed duties of a confessor there. so that's 3 towns and one village so far. they did help 2 people in bounty(ep3) not really the entire town though but they did take care of a dharan camp near the map maker's city. and really what does rahl care about an uprising of a few towns and villages when he has the boxes? once he figures those out he can control everything anyways no matter what, so i'd say his focus is on those rather than on a few petty townspeople. it wouldnt be logical to worry about a town when you could take over the world anyways.

At the end of Bounty, the thief they helped went to a tavern and took down the wanted sign for the Seeker and started preaching to the townsfolk that he's there to help them.

ah yes i do remember that now.

The last episode was so far stretched from the books that it was pretty ridiculous. Other than that the two episodes before it were pretty good.

What magic powers is the sword supposed to possess? I keep wanting to see some kind of Inuyasha wind scar attack.

The sword doesnt really have any direct super flashy powers. It just allows the seeker to see the truth...see invisible things ect. Also it makes him an astounding fighter and have good reactions(catching arrows out of the air and never get hitting in battle).
But Richard himself has some magic that he discovers later.

might wanna spoiler tag that last bit...

Actually per the book the sword does not enable anything regarding arrows.

The arrow stopping comes from the use of Richard's owns innate magic. He ends up finding out he is a war wizard.

very true.. the swords magic intensifies his anger and fighting skills amongst other things it also
takes the knowledge of the seekers past and gives it to richard adding to instincts to fight like he's had years of training but hasnt and it doesnt do such a great job against all arrows, if you've read chainfire you know that

Oh well i guess I got the sword and the other stuff mixed up with the arrow business(its been years since I read the books) I never read Chainfire. I stopped at Pillars of Creation.

I did not like Pillars at all. The Chainfire trilogy is pretty good and end with a great conclusion to the whole series. I would recommend it.

I'm looking forward to Denna torturing Richard some more later in the show. Denna's definitely one of the hottest characters in the show so far.

I was surprised they took out Nass so quickly into the show, thought he would've been around a lot longer.

Maybe I'll pick it up again sometime.

This show is kind of getting worse and worse the more they drift from the actual story. Denna was the best episode but the last few have been mediocre. They need to just follow the story more.

Good news for those of us who like the show. It's been picked up for second season.

The show has done well in the ratings at a time when people were saying original first run syndicated programming was dead.

Great episode...got to say...I actually got tricked. From the start I figured out who it was...but then they had me second guessing myself and I really started to believe it was the other woman...until the scratches.

I really enjoy this show. Seems to improve with each episode.

Zedd is the star of this show....I'm a fan of the books, but Im good with what theyve done with the show....and its not like there are any decent fantasy shows on anymore....

The sword is merely a tool....in the books he can make the blade go white and they showed a bit of that in "Denna", but that's only in extreme situations....I winced every time she touched him with the Agiel, made me feel the exact same way I felt when I first read that part in the books

he can only turn the sword white when he kills w/ forgiveness/love instead of anger....i.e. some kind of mercy killing type thing and i'm stuck at phantom in reading the books, can't seem to get past it thinkin bout skipping. and if goodkind is so upset about how bad the show is, why is he letting them do another season? he does have a new book comin out soon, publicity maybe?

Regarding the sword turning white,
If he completely forgives a person he can kill them no matter who they are. therefore it enables him to kill those that have done no harm. By the way, it does not enable him to see the truth at all.

Ok so Richard helped get everyone in Brennidon executed and he helped get rid of the magic dealers. However what did Richard do for the town in Identity? You might be able to argue that by getting rid of the wizard in Elixir he was helping the town but this does not equate to him "liberating" it. No one was forcing their will on the ppl who lived there. Overall it seems like Richard has done ALOT more harm than good in his attempts to "liberate" towns.

Could you or someone post a link to this?? I had read he had seen the first 6 episodes before they even aired and he was OK with it....

Why cant this show just go along with the books? It would be so much better. This last episode was a filler, all it did was recap the whole season.

I just re read stone of tears...i think im going to start up the series again. I forgot how good they are
