'Sword of Truth' aka Legend of the Seeker

I watched it tonight. The new seeker was not Sam? They seem to not understand how the Palace Of The Prophet's magic works in relation to ageing. There seemed to be only one Rada Han when there are literally hundreds of boys wearing them around. They also pronounced Nicci's name wrong, I spoke to Goodkind himself and he said it's pronounced as "Nietzsche" to symbolize her true personality (yes, in Italian 2 c's next to each other is a "ch" sound).

Also, the sisters seem too pious. They are there to teach the boys and keep them happy no matter what, they even sleep with them if the boys wish. Also, what's with the uniforms? I understand that it looks cool, but the sisters usually wear whatever they want so they can move around the world unnoticed.

I love this show so far. I got into them over break and it's wonderful. Great characters and mother of God, Regan is one of the most beautiful women ever. She keeps getting better looking. Especially with her new outfit.

The show takes many liberties, but the wimmen are hot so i deal with it

They might as well have not even gone to the palace if he wasn't going to learn any wizard stuff. Course, they don't even use Zedd's magic well cause of budget so they wouldn't have done it with Richard either.

That new guy had "kill me" written all over his forehead. Way too earnest and likeable.lol

I still love this show though.

Me too. I think this season has been fantastic...hope it makes it a 3rd.

I never read the books, so I can't compare...and I have no interest in reading them to be honest.

Yeah, and they shouldn't be compared. This has to stretch for a tv series anyway. It's difficult condenseing book into a string of episodes. It's better to follow the general outline of the plot.

Mind explaing that to me? I'm of a mind that if I'm a fan of a TV show and I find out it's based on a book, I'll read the book. But then I went to college for English Lit and Journalism so I'm a reader. No offense intended but really, my mindset has always been more towards reading and if there's a book connected to something I like, I'm going to read it.

As for the show itself, I've only seen 2 episodes this season, it seems fine. I understand how you have to change things, draw things out or leave dead people alive (Darken, Denna) for the sake of a series. I just get kinda weirded out when they get back on story for a while and then suddenly jump back off. Seems to me that every now and then there's an episode that's like a whole chapter or two, then all of a sudden it jumps back into it's own thing. Like Richard not being with the Mud People before leaving to the old world (leaving out the Mud people skips a lot of cool characters, like Bird Man), or his relationship with Kahlan at that moment. Heck, I even expected to see Gratch.

So is the new seeker character from the books?

Man I hope some of these actresses turn up in spartacus :D .

in this case your right do not read them, i have and though the show is good i can't watch it, it makes me mad at all the unnecessary changes. if they had called it anything but sword of truth or seeker i'd watch it but........sigh i just can't.

The books are infinitely better than the show, it usurped SW as my favorite saga, and I've been a fan since I was 10 years old. I'd reckon anyone that hasn't read the books would like the show alot more; it's cool for what it is... it just irritates me like all get out. Like ChickenScratch said, you pretty much have to alter certain things; but the things they change are ridiculous. Why the hell couldn't Zedd and Richard have been friends since Richard's childhood? Why isn't the damn bond between the Lord Rahl and the D'Haran people there? Why aren't Darken Rahl and Richard father and son? One thing that's always bothered me is how the Mother Confessor is portrayed. Queens bow to her, and yet most of the people on the show act like she's just a respected neighbor. I hate complaining, so I'll just stop there.

Does the scene of Richard fighting 30 tribe warriors using the sword happen in the series?

well for a chunk of books 1, 2, and 3...Richard and Kahlan spend a lot of time apart, and that probably wouldn't work too well on TV...here's the thing about the show, its first run syndication, but its doing very well....I have my sister and a couple friends who absolutely love it and have ZERO clue that its based on novels

Yeah, and he gets named The Blade Master (I forget the words in their language). Just not quite in the way it seems in the show. One of the comedic elements of the books is Richard's collecting of titles (and wives). Every new culture he encounters they have stories or prophecies about him or he does something amazing and they give him a name.

As I said, things look like they are doing the book for a bit, then it insanely veers off. Like Zedd going to Shota about the new Seeker, that's when she was meant to suggest Sam. Also, Shota's not nearly hot enough, reading the book everything points to Catherine Zeta Jones.

I remember it was book 3 or 4 where Richard is going to address a group of people and Kara introduces him and all his titles....quite funny it was like

"Richard Rahl, the Seeker of Truth, Betrothed of the Mother Confessor, Leader of D'Hara and the Midlands, Leader of the Gar Nation, etc..."

Yeah, not like they could get Catherine Zeta Jones for this show, but they have a cast of solid actors and veterans. Craig Parker's doing really well for himself right now with this show and Spartacus.

Black Lantern, don't forget Richard of The Temper.

Now in this series they seem to be building up a love triangle for Kara, Richard, and Kahlan. Did Kara ever have a thing for Richard in the books?

Also according to the comic con panel, military troops in the US and abroad LOVE this show and they get it on the troop network.

I don't see a triangle between Cara, Richard, and Kahlan. Cara showed more emotion to that new Seeker than she ever showed to Richarad.

that's wht I put etc....Richard and Cara have an understanding, more confidants than anything else, he is trying to teach her to be a regular person

A couple reasons...for one, I just don't have the time lately to read. (i'm still trying to get through the second Dragon Age novel. sigh) and typically, if I have a choice between visual media and written media, I tend to stick with the visual media. I'm more of a visual person. I've never read the Lord of the Rings novels, but i've seen the movies. :)

Some day, I may read LOTR. But I won't compare it and the movie as they are two seperate beasts.

Likewise, if I was to read the actual Seeker books, I wouldn't compare them to the series. As long as they get the core elements correct, i'm all fine with it.

The actress for kara seemed to be referencing a love triangle thing in an interview talking about how she could do for Richard what Kahlan can't, etc.

Also, in the season 1 finale, Kara blatantly came on to him.

Richard is a lucky bastard. I'd take Kahlan though. Cara is hot but Kahlan is beautiful. There's a difference.

And was it just me or did young Zed look like James Spader?

There is no love triangle. Kara came onto Richard because the Mord Sith were not only Lord Rahl's guardians, but he also sleeps with all of them. After all, who else is an evil emperor gonna bang, some chick who might be an assassin? But as it goes on Kara becomes like Richard's best friend, she even falls in love eventually, but that's way down in the series.

I think it was in Phantom, Cara gave thought to what it would be like to be with Richard, but decided there was someone better for him. Cara really acts more like an overbearing big sister towards Richard. One thing that cracked me up was in Naked Empire, when Richard told Cara to wait with Kahlan while he checked something out; Kahlan said she was coming with him, and Cara gave him permission to join them while they checked out the hall. It went from Richard giving an order to getting permission to join Kahlan and Cara. :hehe:

I'M TALKING ABOUT THE DAMN TV SERIES NOT THE BOOKS!
