Syfy's Helix - from BSG's Ronald D. Moore

"Play God. Pay the price."

Nice tagline.

I can't wait to see this.

Premiere tonight, y'all. 10 PM. 90 minutes, two episodes, limited commercials.

I'm interested, but that's about all I can say about that premiere. I wish I had a better idea of what this show is going to be and where it's going. With BSG it was pretty clear: earth, war, survival. I was really hoping RDM would deliver a premiere like BSG's "33 Minutes" instead it was kind of syfy original movie caliber and even included a stereotypical southern accent. It's gonna have to be better than this.

this show is creepy as hell.

Dude.... don't even. :o

Though, yes, I do hope it goes up from here, as much as I enjoyed it.

Just watched the first three episodes, and I am definitely intrigued! Without a doubt a promising series and if the quality continues to rise, this may just be SYFY's best show since BSG...finally. By the way,

[BLACKOUT]What was up with the doctor taking his contacts out and having glow in the dark yellow eyes!? :wow:[/BLACKOUT]

His eyes looked silver to me.

Ron Moore isn't that big of an element to the show. He contributed some ideas to the show and is executive producing it, but he isn't the show runner. He may very well write an episode down the line, but there's no knowing at this point.

creepy and atmospheric, but slow and tedious... in the long run, it just didn't grab me...

My theories so far:

The brother was working on something that could be used by the military and someone paid/will pay the lead scientist for it. The lead scientist is actually the father of the main CDC guy's ex-wife.

Figures the Army guy would be crooked. They usually are in these types of movies/shows.

Doreen is awesome.

Yeah that's pretty much what I'm thinking.

As for his glowing yellow eyes. Side effects from that super cure they were talking about?

Episode 3 is also On Demand.

I missed the premiere, but I did record it on the old DVR. I'm thinking about watching it later this evening. For those who saw it, how did you like it?

It's slow-moving sci-fi, but not as slow paced as I've seen some AMC shows be. It's mysterious and with some good horror moments and creepy atmosphere, and the characters don't outshine the plot...it doesn't seem to yet be that type of show. It's not that the plot overwhelmingly drives the characters (and when that happens, bad quality can happen like Under The Dome where it drives the characters into utter stupidity.) There's a little of that here with the way some characters behave but it hasn't derailed into total nonsense...yet. I like good horror that understands things like tension and quiet moments and there's plenty of that here.

I liked the episodes I saw enough to continue to watch. I've read some others with some reservations about how they can sustain the setting for more than a miniseries or 13 episodes, and that's a valid point. But they can always shift locations with a renewal and a bigger budget if it happens. We'll just all have to wait. Or move on if you don't like it.

I turned the lights on to watch this.

I watched the first three episodes today, it's very intriguing. I'm liking it so far.

Large lady scientist has a VERY annoying personality
