Syfy's Helix - from BSG's Ronald D. Moore

So Jules is most likely one of those local kids who have gone missing over the past 2 decades. Memory wiped, false memories planted. Where is that lab located again? If it's Alaska, I can buy a village being close to it. If it's Antarctica, not so much.

And damn it someone kill off the Major already.

Lab was working on something having to do with twins...started nabbing twins...may find out doctor lady has a twin sister in the compound...freaky security guy is either a twin or a clone.
This show is intense

Yep this show is getting really good! I just hope it can make it.

While I noted the first batch of episodes were plot heavy, episodes 5-8 get more into the character stories.

This show is quickly becoming one of my favorites! At first I was very meh about it, but it's a must watch for me now.

Anyone else got an idea on what the **** is going on here?

For me, it's aliens...

Aliens

or

Hatake, Sutton and the heads of that corporation have found immortality. It may have been that super cure that Hatake gave Jules to save her life.

Aliens or some mutation brought on by genetic manipulation.

So I binged watched this over the weekend and I'm strangely loving it? I mean, by all accounts it's generic blandness that had Jeri Ryan for more than one episode. Seriously, how does she keep getting roles?

But, this show is steadily picking up pace. I was sad when I realized I caught up. I wanted to keep going. Hiroyuki Sanada is easily the best part of Helix and I love his character.

In a way, I was expecting for a little more storyline for Sutton, but I didn't really think Jeri Ryan belonged on the show. She seemed like she was trying really hard to be all head ***** in charge, but wasn't really pulling it off.

Interesting turn of events now though, with Farragut and Hatake joining forces.

I don't think we've seen the last of Sutton. I don't know why her and the other's heads are being kept frozen outside like that but it means there is something more important than merely incinerating or freezing their bodies as a means of disposal. Perhaps they are immortal and that keeping their bodies and heads seperated is the only way to keep them "dead."

We did afterall see the monkeys that were frozen solid move around once they were thawed.

Whether aliens are involved or not, I do think the genetic tampering has someone/group with far more advanced technology behind it than we're led to believe exists.

we have 2 strains of the virus. a and b. one seems to make monsters out of humans. the other seems to make semi-immortal beings who can control the others? or perhaps it's a combination of the 2?
I do think that there may be an "alien/mutant" component to this. That the "aliens/mutants" want a virus that would render humans slaves to their will? And Hatake is making a "cure" that would turn the slaves into "alien/mutants"?
If I had to guess the original alien was found deep in the ice when the base was first built.

one strain turned you into black ooze. the other strain turned you into one of those raging cannibals.

I´m guessing that the second virus is designed to turn half breeds into thoroughbreds. Hataki made it to change [BLACKOUT]his daughter[/BLACKOUT] to be more like him, something that the others of his kind find repugnant.

It's possible that it's also meant to turn normal humans into grey-eyes but that just doesn't feel right imo given whats happened so far.

I think the super cure is what made Hatake, Sutton and others like them immortal. They've kept it under wraps because it would put them out of business. Forever. That's why they want a virus & cure. The cure is control it. No money can be made if it becomes an out of control epidemic and it wipes everyone out. When he injects Jules with it to save her. He's crying because he has taken away a normal life for his daughter.

That reminds me of the comment he made about her having her father's eyes. :funny:

I knew they were going to use a corny line-reveal but that was just spot on perfect. Better than "Luke, I am your father" for sure.

Another great episode!

Does this have any chance of getting a second season?

wtf Jules!? wtf!? don't tell me greed got to her.

Yes and no.

It's doing Haven season 4 numbers. .4 demo and 1.1 to 1.3M viewers. But Syfy promoted this big. So who knows.

DVR didn't RECORD, so recording 2am Tuesday. :csad: but I need spoilers now. Spoil me, please. Does that d-bag Marine die? Does Daniel die? Anyone die? LOVE this show. Hell, better than season 4 of walking dead. Reminds me of a tv version of The Thing but with a virus and no aliens. Funny, cause SyFy was set to do a tv sequel mini series in 2004.

Man, I really hope this gets a second season. The past 3 or 4 eps have made this show enjoyable beyond my expectations.

yeah someone dies. someone you haven't met yet. a scientist that Hitaki imprisoned 27 years ago. he is maddened but reveals to Jules and Alan that the serum makes you immortal (against disease and old age anyway) but it is like a curse to him and he wants to die. Also the scientist that took the virus samples with him dies. Alan thinks Jules destroyed the virus but she kept some of both strains and didn't tell him. Sarah's tumor causes her to go into a seizure and Hitaki puts her into an induced coma. But not before she discovered that some spinal fluid from Jules might cure her. She dies on the table but it looks like she might get the cure she needs in time next week

:yay: excellent.

recent episode was one of the weaker episodes of the series.

all in a few hours a cure is created, distributed and the vectors are cured.

nice cameo by Rinzler and Daft Punk. lol his scythe pose after slaughtering those people was cheesy. if he's the worst of them. then they got this. kill him and the remaining 500 should be a piece of cake.

interesting development with Jordan. was Jules blood used in the cure for the vectors or just Jordan's brain tumor? if it's the former, only Miska/Daniel and Alan are mortals among the survivors.
