The Dark Knight TDK Fighting Style News

I felt the Batman fight scenes where a bit clearer on DVD, the lighting is better, like the dog fight and final fight in Hulk also look better lit.

I dunno, I actually have no problem whatso ever with the style, and amount of action in Batman Begins, they fit the character, and the villains really well

I wonder though, with Joker as the main villain, how will this Keysi fit with him

AS long as they pull the camera back i'm not bothered what style they use

Loved the fighting style for Batman Begins and very glad its coming back for TDK. But it's the camera style Im worried about.

Good to hear that the Keysi fighting style is being used again. It fit Batman perfectly and with JKD added in, it's going to get even better. But like some people are saying, just pull the camera back a little bit Nolan.

Oh and BTW speaking of fighting. A fight just broke in my street! A man and a his girlfriend were at it; spitting, pushing, punching etc.:(
which fighting style was used and how was the choreography?

Lee rules!

I wonder how the Joker will fight Bats? This is after all a darker Joker.

Batman's fights against the Joker have always been dirty, street fighting, not martial arts. I really liked the style used in The Man Who Laughs - Joker using a knife and his speed to counteract Batman's skill. How did he put it in Five-Way Revenge? employing the divine gift men call madness?

Is the fight over, I hope?

I loved the way they filmed the fight scenes. In a real fight everything is moving that fast

So what? If you're standing watching 2 people fight you can see the whole picture, no matter how fast it is.

This "fight cinematography must be an experience akin to being beat-up by Batman" thing is a silly arbitrary stylistic choice - there's no reason it has to be that way. You don't see it in a Bruce lee movie, even though the experience of being beat up by him in a dark alley would also be disorienting and confusing.

The words "useless gimmick that just did not work" spring to mind

Well the fighting style was pure rage.lol It's not something you see everyday and not something i enjoy seeing in real life either.:(

Haven't read those in a while but i'm sure Nolan will draw some inspiration from old Batman v Joker fights.

Yeah it's long over. It 'only' lasted about 4 minutes.

I just hope he kicks ass.

Well, again it works for the style they where portraying they where ninjas who delt in the art of confusing, and deception, the focus wasn't on anyone of them, it was on the group, and basically they kept the camera on batman, real tight, so we would be as confused, as he

that's basically the same lame explanation people have been throwing around for over a year now, ok we get it, it's an awfully clever idea and in no way ruined every fight scene in Begins

Hey your right!

It didn't ruin any fight scenes in BB

One can only hope they continue the tradition in TDK to even greater effect. I suggest using only natural available light, swinging the camera around on the end of a rope and making sure no shot is longer than 10 frames. If the camera is ever further that 1 foot away from an actor it's too far away. I want to see as many super-close-ups of hands, knees and the upper left part of Batman's head as possible.

I think it's at least an indication of how ridiculous the filming of the fight scenes was when posters such as yourself have to cart out the old "real fights are like that/it's from the criminals pov" argument, the former making no sense at all and the latter being detrimental to the basic enjoyment of the scenes themselves

let's not beat around the bush here, the fighting (or at least the filming of the fighting) SUCKED. you can't tell what the heck is going on.
I understand the first time bats takes down the crooks at the dock the fast erratic camera moves is showing the fighting almost from the crooks POV but from there on in the fighting should have been clear with batman showing his martial arts skill, the trian sequence was an absloute jumbled MESS.

I only had two problems with BB the fighting and the fact bruce showed no scientific knowledge.

I don't care if they dealt in cocaine only to be sniffed off the thighs of Latina virgins i still want to be able to see

Sounds good, but it's worthless if it's filmed the same way it was in BB, so I hope the shaky camera effect is toned down so we can see the style.
