Sorry -- I meant during the buildup. He'd pretty much keep going out of his way to say "This trailer doesn't do anything for me... this image doesn't do anything for me... this poster doesn't do anything for me" etc. etc.

I wish I could remember the things he WAS talking up, getting all excited about; I just remember the circumstance rather than specifics. I kept thinking, "He likes this but not this!? What's he smoking!?" It was almost perverse.

Oh yah you are right, I misunderstood :oldrazz:

I believe he was favouring Star Wars over BB, then after Star Wars he was quiet around Batman Begins until everyone else said it was good, then his coverage upped a bit.:whatever:

He's such a biased critic.

hmm, I hope that means some reviews start to show up pretty soon
the fan boy in me wants this movie to be rated 100% but the logical side knows it's probably only going to be 98% on rotten tomatoes.

Well It's community score will be in the 90's I'm sure..but critically I'm sensing it will be a little bit better received then Batman Begins, but nothing revolutionary. But I hope so.

Its not gonna get a 98%

I doubt it'll go past 90%

You are most likely right, Iron Man was really only 93 because of its universal fun factor, which the Dark Knight doesnt have. It's a dark crime drama revolving around a character surrounded by tragedy.

63 percent? I thought it got a 84%

84 with all critics, 63 with those who are considered top, a.k.a they right in a newspaper or something.

Honestly despite the reviews, Batman Begins has fantastic word of mouth.

Regardless most of those critics are ill-informed and just stupid

I don't think i'm going to actually read any of the reviews - since all they usually do is tell too many plot details - but I do want to check them out for the last line that usually sums up what the reviewer feels.

And i'll be checking RT and Metacritic often once the first TDK reviews roll in :)

I prefer Metacritic over Rottentomatoes. I feel it's a more accurate gauge. Sometimes I get the feeling that the folks over at Rottentomatoes flip a coin when they need to categorize a mixed review as a yay or nay.

Dude, speaking of "Wanted", is it me or is it basically the exact same thing as matrix?

wantewd looks awesome like fight club meets the matrix i can;t wait 2 see it, but i want TDK more...

Actually, they started picking up the pace once some of the virals were going -- they started overcompensating, really -- but, yeah -- AICN has been inexplicably unexcited, for the most part.

Not that Batman Begins was perfect or anything, but it was just weird to see Harry going "meh" all over that but then drooling over some of the true garbage that was coming out.

RIGHT? god i feel like im insane when i go on that site and i hate about 99% of the movies they get boners over. they must get paid so much to shill some of that crap. weren't they going gaga over speed racer? shouldn't that mean WB has them in their pocket? because they really have been giving TDK the cold shoulder...even when they give it mention it's never with the same insane fanboy fervor that devote to other stuff.

yeah sometimes ill click on a review expecting a real bashing and instead ill finish it and go "oh...they liked it? what?" rotten tomatoes is a mess. i usually stick to one or two critics i know i like, roger ebert used to be it up until recent years, where he's cleary lost it, though he did love batman begins and i'm sure he'll love the dark knight as he's mentioned he's an old school batman fanboy.

as for what TDK will get, reviews wise, i wouldn't be surprised if we get mid 90's percentage, but i also wouldnt be surprised if it wasnt a grudging admiration because most critics can't admit that a "comic book" film can be any good. i really believe TDK will erase that stigma once and for all.

Ugh....I doubt Wanted will do very well. It seems like just another generic, unoriginal action movie in a genre overstuffed with the like. Then again I am a little biased....I didn't enjoy the (admittedly original) source material which they seemed to only employ for the name. :whatever:

One more month until we get the thinking man's superhero movie...:brucebat:

Actually looks like a ripoff of Azrael. But I'll see it anyway. ;)

lol I would be happy if it got atleast a 80% I really think they will bash the movie only cause of its massive hype and them being like oh it needed more joker more blah blah and some more blah

But a man can dream

Hell IronMan got a 93 and imo thats alittle to much for it
Yeah IM only deserved probably a 75%

Cuz unlike everyone else im not crazy over IM. I mean it was a good/fun movie but it deffinetly didnt deserved a 93%

RT was too generous with Iron Man, still a good film, mid-80's easy, but not worth a 93%, if you read most of the reviews they all tend to criticize the somewhat dull and lackluster Second act and the rather underwhelming final battle sequence. Not sure how RT rates it's percentages, but I think it was slightly off for this film.

i agree. I think it was just the timing. Before Iron Man, almost everything was lackluster so when the first big Summer movie came in and it was good, critics made it clear that it was 'great' compared to everything thing else at the time.

I do have to say that Iron Man is the one of the strongest Marvel movies thus far, and I would safely place it with Spider-Man 1 and 2, and X2.

I wouldnt say its as good as SM2

???

Practically all the comic book films that WERE good, DID get the praise from mainstream and critics alike. What more do you want, when you have films like BB getting in the 80s, and Spiderman/Iron Man receiving 90s? That's very ideal. Comic book films are in a good place right now, as they've taken over this decade.

They judge it based on whether it's liked/disliked. They then do the percentages based on a good/bad ratio, according to the critics as a whole.

And let's not rain down on IM's critical success. It's fine if it wasn't as pleasing to you, but clearly there's an overwhelming chatter about how good the film was. I'd say the 90 range represents the crowd well, in terms of how they've reacted to the movie.

Agreed. It's about time Marvel stepped up their game, I was worried Spidey and X-Men were all they had to offer.

i think Iron Man did almost everything right.

I even liked the 'lackluster' fight at the end. very robocop 2ish, and tickles my fancy.

Incredible Hulk on the other hand, is just okay. I don't think the word of mouth will be super strong (it'll be there) but it's just very a shallow but otherwise entertaining movie. I prefer Jennifer Connelly over Liv Tyler any day.

93% doesn't necessarily mean it's an almost perfect movie, it just means 93% liked it. I highly doubt all those reviews were saying how "GREAT" it was. Most of them could just say it was good. And that in turn gives a positive review.

Ignore the 93%, the avareg rating tells all.

IM got a 7.6 while BB got a 7.7 despite only getting a 84%.
