TED (Seth MacFarlane / Mark Wahlberg / Mila Kunis)

It was also hilarious to literally hear the age difference in the crowd. When they cracked jokes about the 80s or about older pop culture stuff, you'd hear only about half the crowd laugh lol.

Lol
Hopefully in won't cause too much of a problem with international audiences

If there are jokes only americans will understand, dont worry; they will dub jokes only international asudiences will understand. I dont like that practice, but its common. Family Fuy is full of "joke translations" akin to change the script to cover pop culture references familiar to each country its dubbed for.

Well I gotta say as funny as this film was it also had a surprising amount of heart to it. Absurd, outrageous, inappropriate, but the fact that everyone does this with a straight face makes it all the more hilarious to watch, and the fight scene is worth the price of admission alone. Some of the jokes fall a bit flat and are tad too Americanised and the story was predictable but overall this is a fun movie that should get good word of mouth. 7/10

Depends on the country.
Here in holland they don't dub movies ( thank god) but unless you know a thing or two about american pop culture , chances are most jokes just don't have a big impact.

I remember when The Simpsons Movie came out and Ned made that joke about where Springfield was located, no one outside of the U.S. that didn't know each state's normal location didn't get that gag. It's vice versa, if you watch British sitcoms you kinda have to have some pop culture UK knowledge.

I can definitely see Seth making an animated series out of Ted. The movie was hilarious and had a lot of heart, I give it a 3.5/5.

The music also sounded very "Family Guy-ish", which wasn't a bad thing imo.

Music was literally a more cinematic approach to the Family Guy themes haha!

And did anyone else feel emotional when that "you know what" scene occurred toward the end? Because I did and it surprised the hell out of me.

"Last week I ****ed her with a parsnip. Then I sold the parsnip to a mother with four children."

I ****ing lost it when I heard that line.

Part that got me the most:

"You stand up straight when you talk to me!"

"Why the **** would you say that?!"

:lmao: Added bonus was the manager continuing to give him raises in the job because he had "guts".

One line that really got me and just came out of nowhere was Wahlberg's sarcastic rape joke and it being his fault for what he was wearing. That took a minute to sink in but for some reason it really cracked me up.

The only joke I felt bad about laughing at was when
Ted gets put back together and comes to life and starts talking like he has a mental handicap.
I laughed and then felt immediately sad about it lol.

Another part I liked was when the big band in Rex's mansion was playing the movie's theme as the party music.

Hilarious movie. Probably the next Hangover in terms of success. Ted stole the show, but Wahlberg was funny too. Especially when he laid out the fat kid. "Somebody had to Joan Crawford that kid!"

I loved all the 80's references too. This really was like a live action Family Guy. Old school Family Guy, not like the crappy recent episodes.

My whole theater was cracking up. I didn't even catch what Ted said after that line when the manager promoted him again. Everything with Ted in the supermarket was gold.

Box Office Report: 'Ted' Earns Record $54.1 Mil;

You'd have to be a moron to think this movie wasn't going to be huge. I called it weeks ago that it would beat The Hangover as top non-sequel R movie. It's just that "type" of movie and released at a perfect time.

I want to see this so ****ing bad, but my lazy piece of **** friends have forbidden me from seeing it without them, but at the same time they don't appear to eager to actually get up and go to the movie. People suck.

I'm sure a sequel is imminent.

Go see it without them, then see it again with them and pretend like it's your first time seeing it.

Ted was good and overall I think McFarlane did a good job of translating his comedy and style to a live action feature length movie. I think the third act is a little weak in parts though and also some of the dialogue is like "Ok that was sort of lame and pointless."

One thing I think they could've cut was that Peter Griffin gag line. Wasn't that funny and was too blatant of a reference.

Hands down the funniest movie I've seen in some time. Just rib cracking funny with some subtlety & finesse mixed in that most critics dismissed as even a possibility.

Theater was packed & absolutely roaring.

THINK THAT WAS MORE OF A "YEAH, WE KNOW" TYPE OF LINE FOR ALL THE CRITICS SAYING THAT. PLUS IT WAS LITERALLY LIKE A 5 SECOND LINE IN THE MIDDLE OF A LONG JOKEY PARTY SCENE. NOT REALLY NECCESARY TO REMOVE IT

-DOOM :doom:

That was crudely funny but at the time people were ready for a laugh after some emotional scenes.
