After watching the trailer a few times, I think they just have the wrong voice actors matched to the wrong turtles. The kid voicing Mikey, should be voicing Raph. The kid voicing Raph, should be voicing Donnie. And the kid voicing Donnie, should be voicing Mikey.

I never really thought of the Turtles being different ages, though I guess Leonardo being the leader was always supposed to be the oldest.

The 2012 show is actually really good IMO. Although I am a bit biased since it was my first real piece of TMNT media that felt like my own considering the 2007 movie was loosely connected to the 90s films

I swear, most people online commenting on this stuff have never actually seen or interacted with an actual woman in real life, because at my old job i have have been around quite a few front desk women with her look and body type.

Looking up some of those examples people pulled up of instances where April was drawn as a different race, you can so obviously tell the times when her facial features/expressions and body type were modeled on a black woman. It is so blatant and obvious I can’t believe they still deny it.

It’s not just a case of race. It’s most of these chuds online not getting the perfect, white, red headed, skinny, buxom blowup doll they always imagine as horny teens ****ing in their daydreams. And the fact that most of these people are probably grown men in their 40s complaining about the look of a young female character that is most likely two whole decades or more younger than them is another layer of ick and yikes.

These people need psychological help, man.

I honestly could care less about April's race. There's no issue with her being black, and there's no issue with her being a redhead. With all due respect, most of the people who are okay with having a black April O’Neil aren’t tearing down the various, myriad white versions of the character. If anything, pretty much all of us are okay with both. It’s the loud minority of online, gatekeeping, mysonginistic, racist incels who are the ones making a big fuss about it, calling it “black washing” and “woke” and making some really awful fat phobic remarks, and we’re just responding to/commenting on their childish shenanigans. If they weren’t doing that, then we wouldn’t be talking about it.

Though, I agree with your last sentence. As long as her character and personality is intact, her appearance and ethnicity shouldn’t make any difference.

This film actually appears to be leaning more into the fact that they are basically kids and have been raised in the sewers their whole lives.

I can sort of see that, but truthfully, it's only a matter of time before TMNT gets another reboot. I didn't watch much of Rise of TMNT. It just wasn't for me, but a lot of people still like it.

I get the impulse to compare it to Spider-verse, but I feel the style is just so much more different. The near painted look of the models, combined with the frame rate gives it an almost claymation feel to it. So amazingly different than Spider-verse. It is amazing to look at

Woah...this just landed on my radar. Apparently the producers of the 1990 movie are actually really keen to go back and do a sequel set in that universe, and have talked to Steve Barron and Brian Henson about it.


Like...shut up and take my freaking money. I've always pined for another TMNT movie that used animantronics. Imagine what they could do with the all the modern advancements....could be freaking incredible.

If this Rogen movie is essentially the Spider-Verse of the franchise, there's no reason a live action franchise can't exist alongside it. Requels are in. Huge opportunity to connect with the OG fans if you ask me.

Let's manifest this into reality!
