Where we can keep an eye on and give commentary/thoughts/BS on the series that may or may not be on the "death watch" this season.

So the CW now has the dubious distinction of having the first cancelled series this fall with The Beautiful Life. Now a recent article from Yahoo! TV suggests that NBCs Parks & Recreation and CBSs Accidentally on Purpose could be next.

Has the CW decided which Female friendly show will replace The Beautiful Life yet?

The Melrose Place reboot has been doing pretty piss-poor itself and Smallville just premiered to lackluster numbers. So it sucks to be the CW right now. NBC hasn't done that awesome either.

Heroes looks to be over.

I expect Chuck to go down as well whenever it comes back.

Melrose is just a matter of time. It gets less viewers than Reaper was getting last year.

Smallville was given the Friday death slot. WB wanted it gone after 8 Years.

I also don't expect Dollhouse to do any better.

Community took a very bad hit in its 2nd week. If it drops again in week three it could spell trouble.

The Forgotten premiered badly.

Don't understand Fox's "full-on ******" decision to pit Bones and Fringe (two of their better-rated dramas) on Thursday nights directly against Grey's Anatomy, CSI, Survivor and The Office. And now they're under-performing and people are surprised?

Also I'm curious to see if how much Flash Forward drops this coming week. It was always going to beat Survivor (despite some claiming otherwise) because of the insane hype ABC is putting behind it. Don't know what the reception has been from the public.

Along with Heroes and Smallville, I'd also add Ugly Betty to the "This is It" list of shows in their final season.

TV is very ****ing stupid this year with most of the good stuff on either Thursday or Friday. I mean what the **** spread them out

The CW seemed pretty content with the ratings of Smallville last night. Though it was only 2.5 million viewers, it was 25% higher than past shows on Friday night. If they keep up with 2-3 million viewers each Friday night, I think the show will be picked up for next season.

I just hope (if ratings do infact warrent the shows cancellation) that they're allowed to at least finish it properly without being cut midway through whatever season they're on at the time

That's called "spin." The best thing they could muster was, "Well...it did better than wrestling did!" The only people who actually believe those numbers are good are Smallville fans who don't want to acknowledge the reality of the situation.

Bones isn't doing badly. Fringe is.

I don't think Flash Forward is going to do well unless 7 million is okay.

I hope all the Thursday shows on NBC get the axe especially Community.

I haven't watched any of them this season on a count of them axing My Name is Earl. :cmad:

the "reality of the situation" is that the CW is not like the main networks. The ratings have to be REALLY bad in order to get cancelled on the network (like The Beautiful Life which only pulled in 1-1.5 million viewers). Whereas NBC, ABC, CBS, or FOX would probably cancel shows immediately that did poor in the ratings, the CW would keep the show just as long as it held up to the ratings of last year. Supernatural barely makes 3 million viewers yet it's still going strong in season 5. The CW expected a drop in ratings for Smallville for sure, but they're really only focusing on how well it does compared to their past Friday night shows. They want Friday night ratings to be better, not champions for the night.

They won't abruptly cancel the show. If by some small chance they decide not to renew the show, they'll tell the producers in advanced so that they can wrap up the show by the end of season 9.

If the CW was legit about rebuilding Friday nights like they've claimed, they wouldn't have America's Next Top Models re-runs airing right after new episodes of Smallville. :whatever: That is the reality.

So you can accept what's actually going on. Or just continue to live in the Bubble where Smallville will be renewed for 5 more seasons because its ratings were (slightly) better than wrestling and other shows they previously dumped in that timeslot. Shows that also "coincidentally" ended their series-run after moving to Friday nights that had done well in the past.

you really don't know much about the CW at all if you really believe that. Smallville has been through worse in ratings. In order to get cancelled, they need to cosistently do bad...like less than 2 million viewers. And I don't remember them ever claiming that they want to be #1 on Friday nights. They want to do better than previous years which is why they put one of their oldest top scripted shows on Fridays. The CW doesn't even expect to beat CBS or ABC on Fridays nights. They just want better ratings than before. You seem to think CW is as legit as NBC or CBS...

What exactly are you arguing about PrisonMike?

Smallville's fate has nothing to do with whether it boost the CW's rating on Friday. Smallville is probably going out this season because the CW sucks or it'll get another season because the CW sucks.

A well-established and popular series is dumped on Friday nights. AKA It's being sent there to die. That applies to ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC and yes the CW. Yet you're 100% buying into the network's "It's being moved there to save the night!" excuse. You are the one who doesn't understand anything about television.

But like I said, keep living in the Bubble.

What I'm trying to say is that Smallville's ratings from last night does not mean it will get cancelled. As long as the show increases Friday night ratings for the network compared to past years, then it will stay.

what are you talking about? Shows on CBS, ABC, and NBC still pull in pretty good numbers. Like 8 or 9 million viewers. Look, you don't like Smallville...fine. A lot of people don't. But that's no reason to lump me in with delusional fans. I'm not going to defend the show when there's no basis for it. But I will give you my opinion. My opinion is that things have changed for Friday night TV. Shows like Ghost Whisperer and Numbers still pull in good numbers, often more than other shows on other nights. People are out there, watching tv on Friday nights.

I think the CW put Smallville on Fridays for two reasons, it's their highest rated show so it had the best chance of doing well on a friday and they know it's coming to the end so they had to make room for new shows in hopes at least one of them would attract just as large of an audience before Smallville's gone and they have nothing else to fall back on. I don't think they put the show on Friday's to die I think they put it on there to give other shows a better chance to survive.
