Action-Adventure TENET

Action movies and adventure films.
I've still only seen it once. Definitely itching for round 2, probably in a drive-in this time.

Man I can't get enough of this movie. Seen it 4th time it was awesome makes more sense the more times you see it.

My favorite sequence has got to be Neil surveying the airport breakin strategy followed by the execution and the hallway fight with the protagonist. It's amazing in IMAX

Same here.

Seen it 5 times now (2 in IMAX) and love it. 6th time will probably be on Blu-Ray.

The fact that in both countries where i saw it, cinemas were almost empty really helped not having safety concerns and enjoying the experience.

Also had no problem with the sound mixing. I am a sucker for loudness and bass and Ludwig's score in IMAX was heart-pounding.

Have no idea how any of you are actually traveling to sit in a theater during a pandemic lol. I feel like I’m taking crazy pills.

In my case I live in LA area and I went to Anaheim to see it. Theater was practically empty and had a ton of disinfectant wipe stations available. Wiped everything down beforehand. Everything seemed fairly social distanced there. Tickets were sent to me digitally, so I did non-contact check-in. Wore a mask the whole time.

Honestly, I feel more exposed and unsafe going to grocery stores and running errands at essential businesses, or waiting in line to get into one of those places than I did at the Anaheim AMC.

Just so everyone knows, I am not a COVID-19 denier or anything. That said, this pandemic has been brutal on my anxiety and emotional state. So I felt better being able to get out and watch a film at a theater than being cooped up for the entire summer. I'm not saying you should go out and drive an hour to watch a movie. But in this case, I felt it was OK because the theater barely had anyone there. Just a few people in the auditorium and all very far away. I wiped everything down with wipes and there was lots of stations to do so and I felt you could adequately social distance at this theater more so than a grocery store.

^ This.

Based on what i saw, cinemas felt like one of the safest places to go right now for me.

I mean if you pre-purchase your tickets, you really don't have to touch anything at most modern theaters other than your seat. Versus a grocery store, you are touching things tons of people might've had their hands on. Or a restaurant or food place when you are getting bags or food handed to you. Some AMCs have self-service now as well for concessions.

Agree.

I always pre-purchase my cinema tickets anyway. And food now comes pre-packed too, which is good.

I agree with the above. I'm closer to people when grocery shopping than I was at the theater, even though I tend to avoid the grocery stores when there are too many cars outside. There are also a ton more people circulating in the grocery store each day. After this first impression of the theater in these times I'm not at all worried about going again.

Not sure which film will lure me there though. Especially with a couple of films being rumored to be moved the slate looks thin.

The one other film I would go to a theater now for is No Time To Die...I mean of the films that are still scheduled to open this year.

With regards to Tenet, I do I want to at least praise the film for a few things while I was disappointed.

I think the production designs and locales for the movie were beautiful. I like that the first half much like a traditional, conventional spy thriller with a bit of the sci-fi/time inversion angle, but the focus on that was mainly in the second half.

Also, the plane setpiece was insane. So great production values, locations, cinematography, score, some nice action setpieces. I just wish the whole thing came together better for me.

I had taken a week off of work, so I went on a Tuesday afternoon at a theater in a small town in Pennsylvania about 35 minutes away from me (I live in NJ), and made sure it was an empty screening before I bought my ticket. Due to the location and time I knew there was a good chance I'd be fine, so I was super cautious. Wore a mask 100% of the time inside, tried not to touch anything, brought sanitizer . As others have said, I felt wayyy safer in that situation than I have any of the times I've been to the supermarket during the pandemic. And despite all the weirdness, it actually felt amazing to watch a movie on a big screen. Probably some of the purest joy I've felt all year, no exaggeration sadly.

That said, I definitely would not sit in a theater if there were like 5-10 people in there. Still not comfortable with that because of the ventilation.

Anyone knows why RT isn’t certified fresh?

73% with positive reviews should hold.

I mean Iron Man 2, Mulan and Interstellar are fresh with these kind of ratings.

I agree with the ratings Tenet is getting, it's a good and solid film but not one of Nolan's best (TDKR is much better).

Don't they need to be at least 75% to be certified fresh?

Yes, you need to be steady at 75% or higher after a certain amount of reviews to be certified fresh. I think that once you get certified you keep it unless you drop under 70%, so there's some extra leeway after the certification.

I don't intend to watch Cuties, but let's pump the breaks a bit. The RT score for that film is based off only 62 critical reviews. That's a fraction of the amount of reviews that are being measured for Tenet.

RT is a joke Interstellar 72% Tenet 73%

Cuties gets 85%.

Miss me with that site

What makes the site a joke? It isn't a review score, it's showing the percentage of linked critics that liked a film, which is just relaying a fact. We should all be able to handle people not liking films we like, and vice versa. It's just entertainment and what is good or bad is entirely subjective.

Something about this post is....familiar. Not in a good way

It depends on the movie. Cuties is controversial for a reason.

Cuties isn't that bad a film, not the thing Netflix marketed. It's just a little by-the-numbers for a coming-of-age story. 72 and 73 RT aren't bad scores.

Nolan handwriting notes to Travis Scott. We live in a Twilight world.
