Action-Adventure Terminator: Dark Fate

Personally, I thought that the CGI looked very good in "Deadpool." Even despite its limited budget.
I never expected the opening freeze frame to look good, but Colossus is mid 00s quality. Except that doesn't seem fair, because Gollum looked way better then him.

According to IMDb, the effects houses working on the movie are Blur Studio, ILM, Digital Domain, Method Studios and Scanline VFX.

I strongly disagree about Colossus.

Looks like the same basic plot we've gotten over and over. Nothing special. This franchise needs a complete reboot.
It needs to laid to rest. That or just do something else with it.

I've always imagined future John to be a pretty warped individual tbh. Living by dates and prophecy, knowingly sending his father back in time. Maybe some reluctance on his part, but of course Kyle volunteers anyway.

This is part of why I quite like T3. For all of its flaws, Stahl's Connor is already contemplating fate and destiny, and seems to come to terms with it all in the closing moments. I also like the reveal that the Arnold model in that film successfully killed John before being sent back. If taken from this deterministic viewpoint, future John ultimately allowed it to happen, bringing everything full-circle. Of course it butchers the timeline along the way, but with a bit of mental gymnastics it is a pretty decent extension of the original's loop.

I still think T3 is under rated and the 3rd best movie in the franchise. It also had the ballsiest ending out of all of them, including the first 2 absolute classics.

We don't know what they're exactly doing with this one.

So yeah, they have ILM's D team, and a bunch of other houses. I can't post any scenes do to laugh, but this is high quality CGI?

He's metal, which is way easier to do, and yet he still overtly looks like CGI.

Cameron said Sarah is a terminator hunter and mentioned "they". I'm assuming either there are many Rev9 units, and all of them look like Diego Luna, or there's only one, but there's some twist about him beyond splitting. Maybe he keeps arriving from the future every time they destroy him like Sarah does in the teaser? What's going on with time travel in this one?

We don't? The setup seems pretty plain. Woman is being chased by a Terminator, a Terminator protects her. Sarah Connor says the woman is like her, meaning the woman is key to the future.

Of course. But we still don't know what exactly they will do with the story, characters and concepts and how things will pan out. Duh.

P.S.: Colossus looks great.

Except apparently it is rather linear. We were reading that in this very thread. And why are they even doing the same basic premise from what, 5 other films? Why?

This is awesome CGI. Also always looked so, even in the trailers.

The fact that the narration is linear and contained to 36 hours doesn't mean that it's spelled out how the story and its characters will develop over the course of the movie. But, hey, whatever. We'll be able to judge the movies once it's in theaters.

Has this already been posted?
“I think Terminator fans will be happy,” Miller said when asked if the film will address the mysterious absence of mankind’s savior, John Conner, in all casting reports and plot summaries. Dark Fate will serve as a direct sequel to Judgment Day and ignore the continuity of everything that came after it. That is why Linda Hamilton is returning to her iconic role of Sarah Conner.

He added: “I just tried to make the best film we could. As a fan, I know there are things people want to see and questions they’d like answered right now. But I’d never ruin that by telling details ahead of the movie. I just think they’ll be happy with it.”

It's Gabriel Luna.

And it looks like where the T-1000, being liquid metal, could reform himself into the human incarnation he adopted.
Rav9 version can further extend his "being" into other metals, multiplying himself (and the human persona he adopted)

Thanks for correction. Where did you get that he can extend itself into other metals? I don't see anything on multiplying. Only that he can separate liquid part from the endoskeleton.

Speaking of John has there been any word at all if he’s in this film?

Nope. And I hope they won't spoil his fate before the release.

This trailer didn’t so much for me at all. Maybe with another trailer who knows but as of now I’m not really interested. I still actually haven’t seen Genysis or whatever the hell it is. Just never felt I had to check it out haha.

I’m personally good with the first 4 films. Terminator and T2 are classics. T3 is average, not great not horrible. It’s watchable and enjoyable enough IMO. And honestly Salvation is kind of a guilty pleasure for me but I feel it’s slightly underrated.

Id take the franchise far far into the future (thousands of years) to a time when the earth is completely covered in AI machines and a fully functional AI civilization. At some point humans and machines came to a peace and the machines helped humans settle another planet as repayment for the genocide. For a thousand years both civilizations have lived in peace. Then a war is sparked by dissident factions. Then we've got an interplanetary war between the machines and the humans.

Or reboot it without the Connors and Arnold. Maybe flip it on its head and make AI's the sympathetic oppressed group and the humans the antagonists and oppressors.

Genysis is so awful, you must see it.
