Terminator: Genisys - Part 6

Probably something that should've been done much sooner to have any real effect. I don't know...going back and playing all your old characters (I've heard he's reprising Conan) seems like a waste of time when you can start fresh.

Always thought comic fans would be happy since JW seeing success like this means it gives people a break from a superhero movie being the one to make the superhero headlines. When movies are break-out successes like this, I believe it keeps the fictional "superhero fatigue" from actually becoming real.

I guess AOU making 1.3 billion is considered "superhero fatigue" now...

My initial reaction coming out of the theatre was mainly positive. Is this as good as T1 or T2? Hell no, but if you even expected that in the first place, I question your sanity. It is however better than T3 and T4, and unlike those two it had more of an enjoyable feel to it. There was some nice use of comedy (but not too much of it), Arnold was the highlight of the movie and I liked that they didn't overly rely on old set pieces. We got to see a few familiar scenes happen again, but after that most of the movie went its own way.

Overall I feel like this movie falls into the category of a movie like Jurassic World. It's quite harmless, it's entertaining and not really offensive. You can probably find tons of plot holes since its a timetravel movie, so if you love being really nitpicky, there's room for that.

After this, people will regret ripping TERMINATOR SALVATION. Still think it's miles better than RISE OF THE MACHINES. People only really love that film for the ballsy climax. The rest of that film flat out sucks.

At least SALVATION was set to chart a new course for the series in the damn future war, which is what the franchise needed to do for a while now. Stop the time travel BS. Nobody's gonna do it better than Cameron in this franchise.

Rise of the Machines was way too similar to T2, there was no need for it at all.

Salvation appeared to have a fresh idea, but the execution sucked. Thanks alot McG!

I feel like 90s action movies feel more like comic books than what comic book movies are like today. Everything now feels like it went through the Mythbusters first.

Yea, lmao at people coming up with conspiracy theories, like it's impossible Cameron just enjoyed the movie.

Can Arnold start fresh?

No.

Given that the only movies he's been in since his disastrous run as governor have all been flops except for the Expendables movies (in which he's had little more than cameos) his only shot to reclaim some of his old level of stardom is to reprise his old roles.

The problem here is that this one makes the least amount of sense. An old Conan? That works. An old Dutch fight Predators? That would work too. But an old ROBOT? Um, no. That's ridiculous.

Eh, we have as many "classics" today as we did back in the day. We just only remember the classics of old.

But the last decade? TDKT, Fury Road, TWS, GotG, Bourne, Edge of Tomorrow, Ghost Protocol, etc. Fury Road is every bit as good as any of the great 80s/early 90s films. And that includes T2.

fury road as a whole was good but tom hardy mumbles too much in his movies for me.

Tdk is more of a drama piece of escalation that just happens to have batman n joker.

Tws ill give ya.

Bourne was more of a dialouge driven spy thriller.

Gotg was good but not a classic action film like most from the 80s.

Edge of tommorow and ghost protocol were good but lets wait and see on them as time goes on.

To the other poster, yes the old guys did steroids but atleast they had screen presence and cgarisma to deliver memorable movies and lines. Besides chris pratt not many today have tgat going for them. Rock could have been but hes stuck in those god awful furious movies.

I dont think Darth was saying that they were classics per say, but just that they are as good as the good films released back in the day.

Or I might be reading it wrong.

If that was the point he made, then I agree.

On the another note, Out of his list the only ones I would consider classics right now are TDKT (moreso Batman Begins and TDK) and the Bourne films. All the other ones are great movies but they don't fit the criteria on what I consider classics.

When this movie premieres I expect comparisons and awesome gifs of Terminator vs T-Rex or:

Arnold is the Terminator franchise. He's old, so what? I'd rather watch old Arnold in a bad Terminator movie than a bad Terminator movie without him.

I wouldn't. Ideally, I'd rather watch a good Terminator movie without him.

Sadly, this is how the general public and Hollywood view Terminator.

Personally, I would have loved to watch a good John Connor story without Arnold.

T3 and TS looked a lot better in trailers. IMO.
