Terminator: Genisys - Part 8

This movie kicked ass. I never understand that hate or what "fans" want from these films. From what I've read "fans" just want the same rehashed movie over and over. Then when we get something new they complain. T:G gave us something fresh. Complaining and Jai Courtney just comes across as jealousy or petty. Yeah you might not like him but come on thats a ****** argument as to one of the reasons why the movie failed in the states. Maybe American audiences are just too picky. Come look at transformers. Its makes buckets loads and gets smashed by so called critics and still makes bank.

I liked the movie too, quite a bit.
It's not the best film of the franchise, but it's better than T3 and Salvation (which isn't saying much, I'll agree.)

In my opinion, if your fifth installment is better than the two sequels before it, you were on the right track.

How I'd rank the series:

1. T2: Judgment Day
2. The Terminator
3. Terminator: Genisys
4. Terminator Salvation
5. T3: Rise of the Machines

So for me, it's right in the middle. It's not the best, it's not the worst, it's not great, it's not terrible...It's good.

Movies are still allowed to be "good" or "okay". We have this new culture that's obsessed with everything being OMGAMAZING!!11 or WTFWORSTMOVIEEVER!!!111LUL, and it's just irritating as hell.

Of course movies are allowed to be good.
However, the general consensus is that this one wasn't. Cool if you liked it, but the dislike has nothing to do with people going to the extreme of movie opinions

I havent seen too many posters here say it's the worst movie ever.

But Ive seen a lot say it's terrible. Why? Not because it isnt the best of the series. Nobody expected this one to be better than T1 and T2. The reason a lot of people are saying T:G is terrible is because of the terrible acting, direction, effects, pacing, editing, cinematography, story, script, music.

Jurassic World ain't the best of the series either, but it has its fans, and it's got good/okay reviews. Most of its fans arent saying it's a cinematic masterpiece, but Jurassic World was at least an enjoyable and respectable spectacle.

Because they think it's terrible, they didn't like it, etc.

I didn't think it was too bad myself. Was expecting something awful after the reviews but ended up enjoying it, its better than Salvation for me and about on par with T3 which I enjoyed as well. I wouldn't mind a sequel but they need to hire a better director for me and have a tighter script.

I think GeniSys is 3rd in the list of Terminator movies. But that's mostly because the other two were very bad. Salvation especially was pure horse crap.

righ tup until Dr Who and the Connorator i was actually enjoying it.

After the reviews, I was expecting absolute garbage but I ended up enjoying it. I liked it more than Salvation and Rise of the Machines. I still think this movie could have been a lot better if they didn't go forward in time. Had they stayed in the past, they could have explored the effects of the altered timeline. That would've been a much more interesting movie than doing the whole 'we have to skynet from going online' again. Also, Matt Smith was wasted sooo bad.

it still bothers me that it was Genisys and not Genesys

I mean if you're going to do a lame pun then at least spell it right

They should have kept it simple.. as simple as time travel films can be, focused on the 3 characters.
Like i said earlier, once Connorator showed up, it just totally took me out of it, i had one eye on the screen, another trying to work out the plot line and how it was possible

yeah, Cameron's movies had a beautiful simplicity to them

these movies are just like "time travel means we can make random ass **** happen! yay!"

Although I still don't think Genisys is as bad as others do, I definitely agree that the series has lost the overall simplicity that once made it great while also failing to deliver anything new to the franchise.

Can't argue with any of this, I did love the first hour and then the movie lost its way. I remember hearing what the story was a while ago and I said then it will be good if they can pull it off. They only half did for me.

I was hoping the minute Kyle landed back in 84, everything had literally been reset and that a new series of events happened.

The fight with the CGI T-800 could have been expanded - then the t-1000 would never have been needed and they were basically stuck, not knowing what the future holds. We then get a story set between the original and T2, where John Connor is born and Sarah is prepping for Judgment day - she tries to break in to the facility to make sure they don't use any recovered tech, metal, data etc

Sure, it's basically a reboot, but no different to T3 being a slight rehash (in my opinion)

I think that would have been better than what we got and something fans would have appreciated more.

They seemed in a rush to get to more modern times when the best part of the movie was in the 80's.

And nothing even happened in 2017 that felt like it couldn't have happened in 1984. Like did they absolutely needed to be in the future for the T-3000? He could have just as easily been sent to 1984. Also, why do they have to stop Skynet a day before it goes online? Like they skipped 33 years where they could've stopped Skynet in literally any stage of it's development, but they skip all that and jump to the end where Skynet is fully developed and is actually able to speed up the process when it learns that it's under attack . Only reason I can think of is that maybe the filmmakers thought that the whole 'Skynet is an app/OS' thing was a clever enough idea that it just had to be in the movie. I mean that's the only thing that wouldn't have worked in 1984.

Yeah I think they wanted it as an app to differentiate it from previous movies and to get the kids on board. It sounds good on paper but they just didn't pull it off. It probably would have been explained more in sequels but studios should know by now those are never a guarantee these days.

Box office should only matter to makers/investors. In the end it doesn't matter what its "rated" or how many like it because in the end it will be sitting on my shelf to enjoy over and over. I don't like or hate a movie because some moron critic told me too. I like it or hate it because of my own opinion. The people I know who have seen the film loved it. I've yet to meet someone who didn't but on the Internet its a different story. Just seems like we live in a world of complaining and when we don't get our way we jump on the Internet and complain. I've loved all the Terminator films. Bring on the next movie. Oh and come up with something a little better than a gif when responding to my post.

Terminator and Terminator 2 are I feel two of the best action films EVER. The last 3 just keep topping each other in regard to being awful. Terminator 3 sucked and I didn't think the next one could be worse. Terminator Salvation was worse. I thought there was no way we could top that. Then I saw THIS! I will not jinx myself again, but suffice to say...this movie was AWFUL
