I liked it. I gave it an 8 because I couldn't give 7.5 which was my real rating.

Dude the movie is a failure so I mean . . . the movie was not executed properly.

This movie isn't a failure because alot of filmgoers are generally satisfied. The average rating here is between a 7-8 , that doesn't constitute failure .

I still want proof Bale's voice was computer modulated in The Dark Knight (not to be off topic).

This movie was far from being a masterpiece, but I don't understand all the incredibly harsh backlash it's getting. Was it on the level of the Cameron films? No, but anyone who went in with that kind of lofty expectation needs to have their head examined.

It was a flawed film, but a good one, and miles above the steaming dog patty that was T3. Gets an 8/10 from me.

I loved the movie, gave it an 8/10.

I especially loved all the nods to the other films including Sarah's tapes, the "I'll be back" and "come with me if you want to live" lines, and especially Connor using the same song/boombox when taking out the moto-terminator.

I was thoroughly entertained.

Agreed. I've been checking the IMDB rating out of curiousity, and while I know it's not the end all and be all, far from it, it's interesting that is at 7.6 now. For a movie that is getting ripped as bad as this one is I would think it would be at 3 or 4, LOL. I expect the rating to go down but there is a good chance it will stay in the 7's which to me is solid.

At some point the producers came right out and said it. Can't for the life of me remember where, but it was done, a la Kilmer in FOREVER.

it won't stay. imdb ratings always go down. i remember when return of the king was #1 on there ahead of films like the godfather and scarface. imdb is like ign....most reviews are from teeny boppers.

I never said it would stay. I said I expected it go down, it always does. But it's possible it can stay in the 7's. But regardless, if it does or doesn't though, it doesn't change my feelings on the film.

It might be better than T3,
but the fact that this movie cost $200 millions is a bloody joke.
Its a disgrace in fact.

McG makes Bryan Singer look like a genius now.

What the hell were they thinking?
It was mostly desert sequences and factories.

I refuse to believe $200 million was neccessary for this movie.
Michael Bay would cringe at the waste of money in this movie.

$200 million? Wonder how much of that was Bale's salary, or is that not figured into a budget any more?

well im thinking of Transformers, which had far more CGi in it, and even the new sequel to Transformers, that has tons more CGI than T:Salvation, yet its going to be way under $200 millions.

Michael Bay manages to control his budgets, why the hell couldn't McG?

Then at least if the movie made its budget back, it wouldn't be considered such a failure.
A disciplinarian could have easily kept the budget down to $150 max, considering that the only really major sfx was the massive CGI Terminator, and the massive explosions.

Well I give the film it's self a 9/10 just because of the T800. But when compaired to the other movies I would probaly go with a 8/10 maybe a 7.5/10.

Time Warner Inc-owned Warner Bros. said "Terminator" was likely more affected by competition for older men from the National Basketball Association playoffs, which hurt business in cities like Los Angeles.

hmm.

so now they blame NBA for flopping?
what next?
Bank Holidays?
Birthdays?

Independance day?

Excuses, excuses, excuses. Just admit the movie sucked and cancel the next 2 movies.

I doubt they will cancel the next ones. They are "inevitable".
Their ploy to make quick bucks has obviously backfired on them,
and they are probably now going to sell off the rights to some other company.

And then that company will probably go ahead with the next movie, probably with a much cheaper budget.

I agree that the best filmmakers seek to engage audiences before they entertain, but let's face it, while he clearly has talent, McG is not one of the best fillmmakers. One doesn't generally go looking to make THE TERMINATOR into The Godfather. This movie was about entertainment, and that's what the Terminator movies have always been about. Even the drama is meant to entertain, not enlighten or cause any moral exploration.

Cameron's Terminator movies were less derivative simply because they came first, but there wasn't some wealth of character development or depth in them.

Strongly disagree. T1 and T2 had great character development. And what made the first so amazing was it showed how cerebral an action/sci-fi movie could be.

Humans being the manufacturers of our own destruction (aka Nukes) and how we really fear we will eventually kill ourselves. And then it turn, machines becoming more human (self aware Skynet) became the manufacturers of their own destruction. How you ask? They created John Connor. If they hadn't built the time machine to send a Terminator back in time to kill Sarah Connor, Kyle Reese couldn't have gone back in time to father John. That is beyond amazing story telling. Far better that what I saw in even "The Godfather".

Not to mention its main protagonist, the savior of all mankind, isn't even shown the entire movie. What a freaken awesome movie.

^This.

All these 7-8 averages are from the hardcore fans trying to boost up the numbers.

If I were a hardcore fan just trying to boost numbers, wouldn't I have given the film a 9 or 10...

Since I wasn't doing that and being more realistic about it, I gave the film a 7...which is pretty fair and accurate I'd say.
