This is usually true but, not always. Micheal Bay spent 130million on Bad Boys 2. That movie didn't look like it cost over 100million.

This is where I'm gonna have to disagree with you. Bad Boys 2 looked like they spared no expense on anything. 3 car chase scenes with tons of cars buildings and fake dead bodies going flying everywhere, the ferrari scene alone looked far more elaborate and expensive than any car chase scene before it. Tons of explosions and action scenes which were all top notch. That movie looked like it could've cost 200 million for as long as it was with the amount of action scenes and set pieces.

I thought the action sequences were good I just didn't think the movie looked it cost 130million. Regardless I think Bay, Peter Jackson, Steven Speilberg, and George Lucas are some of the best directors at managing their budgets. I used to think the same about Singer until seeing Superman Returns.

Another thing to note is Singer's Superman Returns did not cost 270million. 60-70 million was wasted on the Superman Lives project.

You gotta admit one thing, well at least for the first Transformers. Shooting a movie like that on the budget he had is damned impressive money management. He probably had to call a gazillion freebie favors to get it done.

More like $150 million plus. Superman Returns was shot for less or right at $100 million. It's just the film just misfired with general audiences. People want to see a great Superman film, dammit. They want to see Superman fight Superthings. Screw Zod or Luthor, let's see him fight Darkside, with henchmen like Cyborg Superman, Lobo, and Parasite.

Who said anything about getting on Bay's nuts? I don't think he's a great director. I've only enjoyed two(The Rock, Transformers) of his movies. Bad Boys, Bad Boys 2, Armageddon and Pearl Harbor were crap. I haven't seen the Island so I have no opinion on that one. I just think Bay's better at managing his budgets than most directors.

Believe it or not Bay isn't the only director that's had bad movies.

Spielberg got him a significant discount with ILM. ILM charged Disney a crapload more for the Pirates 3 CGI, which is partially why it had a $300 million budget and TF1 had a $150 million budget. Good old buddy/buddy discount pricing. It's like when Star Wars 3 cost $115 million. If that movie had been a full-on contract for ILM instead of them working for free since Lucas owns the darn thing, the cost of the movie probably would have been $175-200 million.

The thing that's so terrible about the Island is that it's basically a shameless rip off of a horrible movie called "Parts: the Clonus Horror" which was riffed on MST3K. Tons of people called the movie out on that, but I guess nobody cared. It was a crappy movie that ripped off a really terrible one. I guess the point that I'm driving at is that Michael Bay is a ****ing hack.

Although I did like the Rock and Transformers.

Most websites had Singer's budget at 180-210million so that's what I believe his Superman movie cost. Superman Returns is not a terrible movie but, it's pretty darn disappointing. The story line was too similar to 1 and 3 in which a doomsday plan was used to hold the world hostage. I'm still amazed that Singer decided to go with his generic storyline of Luther as the main villian after the CEO of Warner Brothers suggested that a Superman reboot would be more refreshing and coherent.

If Bay hadn't made a single enjoyable film than I would call him a hack. I reserve the hack title for directors who make mindless mediocre crapfests that have no replay value. Ratner, Uwe Boll, and Paul WS Anderson are perfect examples of this.

That's fair, but personally I'm a bit less forgiving.

Bay made Transformers what it was because he has good connections with the military. If he didn't, either the budget would be higher for the films or the scripts would require rewrites.

I thought it was great. I haven't seen a movie in the theater in a while, and I was craving a good action flick, and this one was jam packed. I liked the Marcus character a lot, and

The crowd cheered when "Arnie" appeared.

I really liked the sounds the different robots made. Very cool sound fx.

Batman kicked ass, and Bryce Dallas Howard is hot. That is all. 8/10

The Mute kid didn't make me feel anything one way or the other.

Helena Bonham Carter was terrible, at the first part of the flick, (which was awful in itself)

The exposition to Marcus at the end was pretty damn awful

I mostly get cheers and such in the crowds during midnight showings here, but this one was an odd occasion for such a huge cheer on a Sunday night.

Those are the best. I try to see as many movies as I can on their midnight premieres. The line usually sucks, but the reactions are SO much better. People laugh, cheer, etc. But never far enough to be annoying, just more like a roller coaster ride with a big group of people there to see a good flick.

You kinda have to find a theater with a wide demographic I guess: geeks, teens, film buffs, and casual film goer. There's a bunch of theaters around me with the casual film goers but they tend to be more reserved. I guess you kinda have to look around. But at the samtime, is it really worth it being cool? haha.

Yeah, I saw it in L.A. and my theater cheered the freaking opening credits and clapped at several scenes in the movie and at the end. Maybe that's why I enjoyed the movie so much because my audience was so into it.

You could tell the crowd was happy with the cameo in my screening, but only that and Marcus' fistfight in the middle of the film got much of a reaction.
