That's one of the reasons I disliked the redneck rape attempt scene. It felt so out of place.

I liked the redneck scene. The fight was choreographed well and it was one of the few moments in the whole film that felt tense.

And for a war movie there's virtually no war scenes in it. Where are all the massive battles with the terminators that they said we were going to see.

This movie seemed to be in perpetually falling action. First we get a glimpse of a major operation, then we get some chase sequences, and before we know it the film's boiled down to a single Terminator. It felt like they wanted a big, loud opening for this, but then they didn't have the finances for anything else.

Sadly, McG is better at building hype than he is at creating the product to go along with the hype he builds. And we all bought into it :(

We? that is an over statement, the reaction to the movie is mixed. You make it sound like every single person who saw the movie either disliked it or hated it.

In Lord of the Rings, they actually delivered on some war sequences. And those were big and epic.

And there were hints of these battles in the previous Terminator movies.

And yes the action scenes in the movie boiled down to chases and a one on one battle with a T-800.

I agree the fight was good. The oncoming rape part was rather meh. I'd rather have seen that same kind of ass-kicking at the gas-station before the Harvester shows up.

You mean the ones that take place in 2029? The time that "Terminator: Salvation" ISN'T set in?

I'd say the explination is the storytelling tool of purposelly stalling in order to build anticipation. Nolan did the same thing by holding off on the Joker...it makes sense.

If this is supposed to establish a new trilogy, why on earth would they reveal their hand so quickly? This just means there's room to grow and expand and improve...as opposed to blowing the lid off early and having to follow up with two watered down films that can't go anywhere else.

I haven't seen 'Salvation' yet...but even I knew that.

Just an observation though...

Perfectly said. seeing the T-800 at the end was a good tease like with what the Begins ending had.

Oh, well, now I'm glad they wasted my time with meaningless characters and no plot. Cause the next one is gonna rock!!!!!!!!

Is this even going to make its money back enough for a sequel?

I really wanted to see some epic battles.

After this scene from T2:
terminator307ww8.jpg

Even if was just an army of T-600s I wanted to see some real peril and danger against the resistance forces.
That scene was (which is in T3 not T2) set somewhere around 2030 and not 2018.

I would think Skynet is just building it's army in 2018.

i havent seent the movie yet but i think that epic battle will take place in T5
Or even T6.

The next one needs lasers.
Yes, in time Skynet will built more advance weapons, and also more killing T-machines.

Is this even going to make its money back enough for a sequel?
Yes.

Once all the boxoffice totals are in: domestic and international at the end of it's run, and also the products and dvd/BD sales, yes it will.

I just hope Halcyon Co. is smart enough to hire better writers next time around.

I've made no premature judgments about the film yet...but when I see it tomorrow, I'll let you know whether you're right or wrong about plot and characters...I find that most people are just overreacting though. Same thing happened with "Wolverine."

Audiences blew up about it and when I saw it that wasn't the case at all...whatsoever...

People who consider these recent releases to be 'bad movies'? Clearly they haven't seen a lot of movies...in my opinion anyway.

Does it make a difference how many movies are seen? Bad is bad. Quantity of such cases only increases the normal distribution. Just because there are worse movies out there, doesn't negate anything.

I haven't seen the movie, but I think there's enough material in the Terminator mithology to warrant three action-packed movies. :yay:

Wolverine which just got beat by Star Trek is isn't going to $200 million US.

By the way, I've been reading a lot of critics to the movie's ending, and cooked up a different finale I think it'd be interesting to see, here's it:

John leads an Resistence group to Skynet City to prevent an attack of T-800 in the Resistence base outside Los Angeles. They fight Skynet's drones and John and Kyle are rescued by Marcus and Blair and enter Skynet City by a secret entrance while Barnes sacrifices himself to cause an distraction.

The group makes to Skynet's core, where they find an enormous computer. Skynet talks to them threw the machines, and say they have nowhero to go. Nowhere to hide. An army of T-800s failed models appear, led by the actual T-800, who stayed at the base as Skynet prevented they'd come because Marcus has micro-cameras on his eyes. They've been spying on them since day 1. That's what Marcus is. Nothing more than an weapon, an trojan horse that condenmed the whole humanity.

The group faces the T-800 and Marcus and John destroy it. Kyle is severely wounded. Marcus knows Kyle's importance to the future of humanity, and decides to make sure he, John and Blair will make it. Marcus rips his chest open and damages his fuel cells, causing them to prepare to explode. He's going down, and he's taking Skynet with him. John argues, but Marcus has made his decision. He tells them to run. John doesn't want to, but Marcus remembers him of Kyle. John agrees. Marcus tells Blair to go, but she doesn't want to. She's staying with him. Marcus talks her out of it, and only asks a kiss. She agrees. They flee. Marcus faces Skynet.

Skynet is furious. It says that won't destroy it. That he's giving his life for nothing. Marcus rebates saying that if he saves at least one life, it's worth it. Skynet screams, asking Marcus who he thinks he is to do that.

His only response is: "My name is Marcus Wright. And I am human".

Marcus explodes, destroying Skynet's base just as John, Blair and Kyle make out of it. All the machines collapse. They don't have Skynet to guide them anymore. The Resistence is able to fight back and defeat the T-800 in a big fight. Blair pilots a ship and John arms himself, lauching himself against the machines in the war and destroying many of them. The battle has ben won.

Later on, John is being examined by Kate. Kyle has received medical attendence and is fine. Blair too. Kate says Marcus act was very brave, but, at long term, meaningless. Skynet is still out there. The war isn't over. John agree. He says it has only begun. But they have the advantage. They harmed Skynet. Amputated one of it's main organs. Skynet is harmed. It's vulnerable.

Time to payback.

Door to sequel.

THE END.

Really rushed, but I think it'd work (It does in my mind. :hehe:)

What do you think?

EDIT: Improved it. Now you can read it!

Shots fired.
Isn't that what it really comes down to, though? Anyone who likes a McG film is stupid, aren't they? I know you aren't supposed to *say* things like that, but if you are the kind of person who doesn't regularly walk into walls and doors, you've got to at least *know* it.

You know, no one is hating these bad movies just to hate them. Wolverine was rushed, badly written, and had wildly outdated CGI. It was made by a studio that is known for butchering their franchises (DD, FF, Predator, Alien, Everything). The evidence is all over the film. These movies just aren't inspired, and they shouldn't be praised for anything they haven't earned. You sticking up for a movie like Wolverine just because you don't want to admit to having wasted $10 only justifies that kind of lazy film making. TS is the same case. Human beings just deserve better than Wolverine and Terminator: Salvation.

Alot better than what we got.

Could have also used some, "No fate but what we make for ourselves"

But with the paradox of J.C's birth and his father from the future, humanity's fate is pretty much set. All they have to look forward to is a hope they'll survive long enough to live and learn to be farmers.

I hate to say your right but your spot on with that statement! I met McG at WonderCon this past year. Such a nice guy, he took me and my girl backstage with him and got us some VIP tickets, was so great! I saw the movie last night and I liked it but there were to many things I didn't like. Actors, plot, and editing to name a few. Man, never have I had beef with a movie due to how its edited but since I love the Terminator flicks so much I was bummed with certain things.

lol. Bryce...what the heck did she do in the movie?

I can remember her having MAYBE 15 lines.

It's amazing that as much as T3 sucked, there was 100 times more development for that character with Clair Danes than there was for Howard in this movie.

Enjoyed the hell out of it. Action was great, loved Sam's character, enjoyed the nods to the previous movies and thought the final battle at Cyberdyne was fantastic.

8/10

For that matter Moon's character was completely unessesary, other than to spoon with Marcus, after the rape attempt.

This movie really sucked three kinds of **** on Tuesday. I was considering going back to see it again, just because I thought if I let it settle in, I'd like it more, but I won't waste my money. I'll go see Star Trek again.
