Too be honest Marcus was a better being then John Conner in this film. Skynet made this mistake. They left this machines heart in him and his brain. Marcus chose too be human and thus free will. Terminators don't have free will. What stinks is no Marcus isn T5 should this film make enough money.

Awe people complain about John Conner taking a machines heart. Well he was born human was Marcus and so was the heart human. I am wondering though did they just replace Marcus heart in John Conner. I hear that is planned that John Conner skin is placed on Marcus and his brain put instead of Marcus's. I am thinking it will be revealed at the end that Conner just thaught he got Marcus heart inside him. But in fact Conner got Marcus entire body and thats why Skynet wanted Conner dead. So that power never happens. Because Conner a thing like Marcus would be unstopible.

I think it was a good ending for Marcus humanity and John Conner wifes tears proved she was wrong and the other girl was right about Marcus.

that guy loves EVERYTHING. if a studio will send him a ticket, he'll love it. But MAN, he really torched terminator!

Considering it's been I think 23 years or more since T2 in particular in this film, and the fact that he's been fighting machines everyday for the last 15 years, I think his hatred was a logical way to go for his character.

this is why I don't agree with everyone that's complaining about "character development". Shouldn't the "inexperienced, still learning and making mistakes" John Connor be during that first 15 years, so that by the time we get to him in 2018 he's pretty much the Leader we expect him to be only hasn't recieved that rank yet?

and due to command getting blasted at the end, I would assume if a sequel were to be made, John would infact be the leader at this point.

that's how I precieved it

Guess who didn't promote their big summer film on his website? No add revenue, no payment for a positive review, had to see it with everyone else, of course he bashed it.

Personally, had some crap come up over the weekend, but I will see it probably today or tomorrow if I can.

The negativity, damn, is this the Watchmen forums? I see positive reviews votes above, but see the same 10 people doing negativity cheerleading on every Terminator thread. Just like Watchmen.

Knowles mentoned getting some free swag from McG...but I guess that wasnt enugh anymore to buy his thumb up.

"Harry needs a new belly band"

"I'm not paying for your surgery for a good review"

"Then I will salt your film, and make sure everyone knows how crappy it will be, just like Wolverine *munch munch Doritos cool ranch munch*"

Me and the GF saw it. After all the negative remarks about this film I did not expect much. But I liked it. Sure it was not OMG what a great movie!! But I liked it, it was entertaining.

If I had not seen the trailers beforehand I may have liked this more. They really sold us on Christian Bale/John Connor and he really wasn't even the focal point. BUT... the film is called Terminator so I guess it's only logical that Marcus was the focal point.

I'd truthfully have to see this again before I could honestly rate it. Not to criticize 'The Bale' but I think he may have been too big a star for this role.

Also, what's with the deep, raspy Batman voice? Did Bale have vocal chord implants and now that is his real voice?

i saw this and i think it was "eh" to me there wasn't enough to the story. i also can't stand the color tone of the movie, it drives me insane. idk, there's not much i have to say for this film, it just wasn't very good. imo, they should have stopped making terminator movies after T2, the first and second ones were excellent, but after that, the rest of them just suck. 6/10

he sounded pretty close to batman when he was screaming imo

I just don't see the resemblence in him yelling at the top of his lungs to his low pitched growl in the Dark Knight

sounds nothing at all alike to me

but hey, that's just me

I didn't get a Batman vibe from his John Connor either. John Connor in this movie is just a hard-ass, when he yelled it was no where near as deep or emotional as when Batman does.

"THERE AREN'T GOINGG TO BEEEAAAHH ANYY FURRRERRWORRRKS"

Well that was completely rude and uncalled for.

All I did was try to give my review of the film just like everyone else gets to...then some people felt the need to whine about my opinion, so whatever.

In the end all I was saying is 'Salvation' wasn't great but it wasn't horrible either.

There's the defenders, the naysayers...and then all of us who gave the film an 8 or 7 who're actually being realistic about it.

OK, now that's a bit of an exaggeration.

"I'M NOT WEARING HOCKEY PADSSSSS" would have been a better example. :o

no kidding man. talk about pretentious:whatever:. terminator salvation is the first film in the series with any humanity? give me a break white.

he is an psuedo iconoclast and gets off by being the odd man out. a contrarian, not by nature, but by necessity. if everyone was praising the film im sure he would bash it.
I think that he really believes that he's not a contrarian, and that what he does is genuine criticism. But he just says things without having any substance to back them up, and he makes pointless and ludicrous comparisons all the time. Have you read his Hellboy 2 review? He bashes it by relating to it in terms of a ****ing Ting Tings song. He's sort of like an eloquent, crotchety, black, gay version of Ben Lyons. And yes, apparently he is really gay. Somehow I knew that he would worship Sam Worthington. He's always hated Christian Bale, for virtually no reason. To him Christian Bale is the "poster boy for nihilism". :whatever:

I'm just saying, this didn't feel like the same John Connor. I think this Connor should've been smarter and had more insight.

What is it about those Terminators that they were able to surpass their programming and become sympathetic to humans? John should be trying to figure that out.

It's a different future. An actual war and what's really happening at that time is completely different then what you think will happen and what you experienced before. John knows he can't **** anythinig up to jeopordize the resistance.

Dude the movie is a failure so I mean . . . the movie was not executed properly.

Dude the movie is a failure.

I look at films like "Invincible" starring Billy Zane, "The Postman," "Howard the Duck," "The Adventures of Pluto Nash" or "Meet the Spartans" and feel completely justified in saying "Terminator: Salvation" is not a failure nor is it 'bad.'

The proceeding? THOSE are bad movies...and I don't think anyone could realistically or consiously put "TS" in such company.

That's just what I think though...

I agree that the best filmmakers seek to engage audiences before they entertain, but let's face it, while he clearly has talent, McG is not one of the best fillmmakers. One doesn't generally go looking to make THE TERMINATOR into The Godfather. This movie was about entertainment, and that's what the Terminator movies have always been about. Even the drama is meant to entertain, not enlighten or cause any moral exploration.

Cameron's Terminator movies were less derivative simply because they came first, but there wasn't some wealth of character development or depth in them.

SALVATION is disappointing because in 2009, it's no more interesting than a movie that was made in 1984. That's about what it boils down to.

I bought Connor giving Marcus a chance, because Marcus was the only chance Connor had, and he gave Marcus a chance because he had to, which Marcus then delivered on. This was literally the only piece of character development Connor had in the film, and it was welcome to see.

What was stupid was John going in to rescue Kyle alone. That was just beyond ridiculous, and robbed us of the human/Terminator war elements in the favor of "sneaking around".

he didn't sound anything like he did in The Dark Knight
That's because his voice in THE DARK KNIGHT is computer modulated because Bale can't hold his Batman voice consistently. What he did sound like was his voice in BATMAN BEGINS. His "low whisper" in TS is very much the same voice he used in BEGINS.

Whether TERMINATOR SALVATION is a truly bad movie is irrelevant. It was disappointing. And that may even be worse.

I agree that the best filmmakers seek to engage audiences before they entertain.

Honestly I agree...all I'm saying is that regardless of how much a filmmaker might seek or strive, that doesn't mean they'll succeed necessarily...no one can ever predict such a thing, which is why the objective of 'entertaining' is built in as a fail-safe of sorts.

Now of course yeah, the best filmmakers can do it no problem.

But it's never a done-deal with all their films.

I mean did John Carpenter really engage people with 'Big Trouble in Little China' the same way he did with 'Halloween' ? I don't think so...but as a foundation, both films are entertaining in their own respective styles.

So just on that basis, both films work...but then 'Halloween' goes a bit deeper.

That's all I meant when I said what I said.
