Yeah, I saw it in L.A. and my theater cheered the freaking opening credits and clapped at several scenes in the movie and at the end. Maybe that's why I enjoyed the movie so much because my audience was so into it.

This ALWAYS makes me like certain films more. I see films my friends say suck, or get horrible reviews, and sometimes I like it more than I should because the crowd makes it such a fun experience.

just got back from the flick and... really enjoyed it. like. a lot. i think the bad reviews actually made it better for me. i was expecting the trainwreck everyone was saying it was, and i came out pleasantly surprised. as a matter of fact i came out thoroughly entertained.

You kinda have to find a theater with a wide demographic I guess: geeks, teens, film buffs, and casual film goer. There's a bunch of theaters around me with the casual film goers but they tend to be more reserved. I guess you kinda have to look around. But at the samtime, is it really worth it being cool? haha.
heh, actually it isn't worth it.

The midnight show was alot of fun; people were going crazy during the beginning and Arnold cameo; the film got a huge applause at the end.

You'd never have known that it got such bad reviews.

Sometimes I wonder if Summer 2009 will the Summer known to be directly affected by the writer's strike. Hmmm.

Honestly, movies like Transformers 2, GI Joe, and Land of the Lost were hit by the strike. Does that mean we're bracing for a lackluster summer? (excluding movies like Up and such)

Land of the Lost looks terrible.

I wonder how the new Harry Potter will do? It might be the hit of the summer.

None of those movies are supposed to known for their stories though; don't think it will help.

Potter aint outgrossing Transformers 2 in the states. Overseas yeah, but the U.S will belong to TF2.

I hate both of em so none of my time or money is going towards them.

Bay's take on Transformers won't be hurt by the strike because it's not reliant on great writing to begin with. G.I. Joe might make decent cash, and Land of the Lost...well, people like Ferrell for some weird reason. Harry Potter shouldn't even be questioned; it's making bank big time just on the name alone.

I've said it before, I'll say it again. I don't think ANY of this years big films will make MEGA money. HP and TF2 will make nice amounts, but not massive I don't reckon.

I'm one of those strange people who likes Ferrell and I have some interest in Land of the Lost as I found it's trailer to be funny. I see Joe not doing to well, I see a slightly over 100mil gross though.

300mil is pretty darn massive and TF2 will easily make that much so I think that you are wrong. Also I believe that Potter will make over 275mil and thats pretty darn huge to me. Will any movie make 500mil? Well no but you'd be a fool to expect any movie to make that much as it's one of those fluke numbers.

Well I consider MEGA money to be 400 million upwards. I think TF and HP will get close to 400, maybe.

Interesting article on chud.com about what went wrong with Salvation:

http://chud.com/articles/articles/1...NT-WRONG-WITH-TERMINATOR-SALVATION/Page1.html

Bale is a fine actor but seems one who sometimes comes down with a severe case of *****ery, has anyone read rumours he has refused to do the audio commentary for TS?

http://www.parade.com/celebrity/celebrity-parade/archive/christian-bale-terminator-salvation.html

Of course its his decision and though i feel nothing could have saved TS from being an average movie i also feel if he wasnt involved we would have gotten a better flick.

And of course they should have Gotten Cameron back:woot:.

I pride myself on knowing a good movie when i see one, hell 95% of my movie collection consists of movies that have won numerous academy awards, & I see nothing wrong with TS. The negative attention you ppl are bringing in on this film is just shocking beyond belief to me. You all talk of how good the character moments were in T1 & T2........ahhhh mind pointing them out?. T1 had some good one's because it had to introduce the characters, once T2 came about it was just michael bay sized action wrapped in a thin cloth like plot. Hmmm another tird plot of a terminator being sent back in time, but wait!, this time one of the terminators is a good guy oooohhhhh. My point being is that as great as T1 & T2 are & deserve to be, you are all making them out to be gone with the wind & TS as a pauly Shore movie. TS had great action, it set up Connor as the badass future leader that brought the human race back from the brink & had a great arnold cameo as well as a touching story about what makes someone human. I loved it a great deal & can't wait for T5 & yes it will happen.

9.5/10

That Chud article shed an awful lot of light on things! While I hated the big reveal original planned for near the end, the rest seemed okay to me...and it is clear that they were making that movie, and stumbling around looking for a new story while filing and ridding themselves of the big moments in the old story.

Thats a recipe that wasnt going to work, and apparently didnt.

I agree with you on the rating for TS, but c'mon.

- The scene where John has the monologue about his mother's beliefs not being ******** is great.
- the shot of the two kids playfighting and how "we wont last" (humans, I mean)
- the scene where Sarah decides not to kill Dyson
- the speech about how men dont know how to really "create" something
- the ending is iconic.

If I didn't know better I'd say TS was directed by Bay. It has his name all over it, from the weak plot to the great action. I love the movie but how you can dislike Bay and then like this (and dislike T2) is beyond me. That movie wasn't just a rehash of T1 - the paternal theme with the terminator and john and them finally taking their fates into their own hands were new and great.

Strongly disagree. T1 and T2 had great character development. And what made the first so amazing was it showed how cerebral an action/sci-fi movie could be.

Humans being the manufacturers of our own destruction (aka Nukes) and how we really fear we will eventually kill ourselves. And then it turn, machines becoming more human (self aware Skynet) became the manufacturers of their own destruction. How you ask? They created John Connor. If they hadn't built the time machine to send a Terminator back in time to kill Sarah Connor, Kyle Reese couldn't have gone back in time to father John. That is beyond amazing story telling. Far better that what I saw in even "The Godfather".

Not to mention its main protagonist, the savior of all mankind, isn't even shown the entire movie. What a freaken awesome movie.

Oh, and not to mention the first Terminator inspired every other scifi movie in the last 25 years.

Article Translation: Blame Bale.

Most of that original script sounds awful. A "seaside resort populated with humans", Marcus being the new "John Connor"? It's like the script is loaded with twists just for the sake of...having twists. It's all for the "shock" value.

For me the initial script makes the first 3 worthless. All that protecting of John Connor, just to kill him and have someone else be John Connor? And now Skynet doesn't really want to kill us, they want to save most of us and kill the rest? And why exactly. It just sounds stupid. Blame Bale? Hell, I'm thanking Bale, because Though many don't like this movie, I think EVERYONE would be fuming at the seems at this script if it was made.

That sounds like nothing what we thought the future is like. Nothing.

Yes, that makes him such a *****e :whatever:.
What a ridiculous thing to be mad at him about. You know how many actors don't do commentaries? A lot.

The popular theaters in Orange County and LA have fun crowds who do cheer. It depends though.

I also, live in Orange County and the crowds usually cheer at the theaters I watch movies. One really great theater is Arclight in LA. I go there once a year to watch a film in Imax.

The people hired to write the script were the proud writers of Catwoman...so obviously there was a major flaw from the get go.

However, some rewriting to change some of the stupid stuff like the concept of Skynet being the heroes (???!!!???) could have been done...

No its him grabbing the Terminator franchish and just about ending it, his tirade during filming and the rumours of a fight with his parents, and a ton of interviews where he comes across as a guy who loves acting but hates any fans that smells decidely of *****ery to me.

Of course I dont know the guy but my spidey sense for these things is pretty good.
