Romney's main problem (aside from being completely out of touch) is that he has literally been on every side of every issue when it's most politically convenient. He has no spine.

Wouldn't being a Republican governor in a very liberal state like Massachusetts kind of force Romney to somewhat bend to the will of the state in some instances? I think you kind of have to in order to get anything accomplished and not appear like you are a completely incompetent executive. Sort of like what Arnold had to do in California. I feel Romney is pretty conservative when it comes to fiscal issues but is somewhat more moderate when it comes to social ones, which is what I feel the GOP needs to try and adopt more if it wants to stay competitive nationally or risk being reduced to a regional party.

In theory, wouldn't that mean that he would govern more moderately? Campaigning is little more than saying stuff that more people want to hear than what the other guys are saying so you get more votes. It's not like those statements are going to become true.
