Minor spoilers ahead

So Wolverine's claws have been bothering me... The 70s Wolverine naturally has bone claws, but for both 2023 versions, the adamantium claws are never explained, and it seems to me like a big deal.

OT 2023 - despite losing them in The Wolverine, in the 8 years since TW, he has somehow got them back. Are we to assume that Magneto gave them back to him? Doesn't that somewhat negate the point of TW? And besides, why even show the claws? There was no need

New 2023 - Ok so this time we don't see anything, obviously with a view to tell the story again, but presumably he is adamantium laden again, because well, it's Wolverine. So in that case, rewind to 1973. At the end of the film, Stryker takes custody of Logan. I thought that was brilliant, easily setting up Weapon X. But instead its a fake out, and ends up being Mystique. Can't figure that one out at all, anyone got any ideas? I did think Apocalypse could do it next time around but Wolverine would have no need for adamantium or knowledge of it...

Thoughts?

Singer implied in an interview that Magneto helped out wolverine with that issue.

He has adamantium in the rest of his body. And he's buddies with a man who can manipulate metal. It makes sense.

If it's Apocalypse who does it now, it'll be part of turning him into one of his horsemen.

I actually thought Magneto's "Imagine if they were metal?" line sounded somewhat ominous, considering now where this may be going.

I'd like them to cover on-screen how it happens, but equally I don't see how Logan fits in with Apocalypse. He has no memory of any of this, so would be more likely to go to Vietnam with Sabretooth and Origins, sadly, plays out. The Apoc angle works nicely though, but why would he give him adamantium? It's not like he'd ask for it

Not really. He was still passed out when Mystique took him at the end of DOFP, and we're not sure where they're headed. She obviously wants him for a reason.

It may be we're getting the version of the adamantium bonding he didn't volunteer for.

Oh, I would like that. :wow:

There's an hint involving Young Magneto anyway.

Yeah that irked me, they shoulda had it as Stryker who has taken an interest in Logan and have that him getting Adamantium is immutable

I am not sure how to take this smilie. :funny:

That's a little unnerving, isn't it. :wow:

Because that watered-down version in Origins was so bad. Let's screw Wolverine up right this time.

And I mean that in the nicest possible way. :oldrazz:

And lets make sure he is as naked as possible. :hehe:

And yes, it was very unnerving. :waa:

That too! :woot:

Actually, it's the concept of a possible evil Wolverine that I'm most excited about, if that's the direction they're going in.

Keep in mind, I saw this movie two weeks ago. Do you know how hard it's been not to go on about this for so long??

And yes, it was very unnerving. :waa:

I'm never like this during the Tony Awards...

I am not sure about an "evil" Wolverine. It would feel a bit too much like another take on the memory loss from X1 and X2. But you never know.

Sure you aren't. :o

Well, not so much that...Hugh's said he's not expecting to have as big of a role in Apocalypse as he did in DOFP. But he was one of Apocalypse's horsemen in the comics, so there's potentially cool stuff that could happen that we've never seen him do in the movies before.

That, I'm looking forward to...if it happens.

Well, maybe if Mamma Mia performs...

Well in that case, all bets are off. :awesome:

I just don't see how Apoc ties into Mystique taking Logan away at the end. If it was real Stryker, there'd be no issue!!

Exactly. Plus, Angel exists already within the movie X-verse, even with much of X3 not counting anymore. Thus, we can't really get a true adaptation of Archangel in the FC timeline. Having Wolverine in the role of a horseman is as close to the brainwashed hero being forced to destroy his friends as we will get, which is what made Archangel interesting in the first place.

My take on it was she was helping to rescue him, not imprison him. Once they knew where he was, Mystique took over the identity of Stryker to get him out of the hands of the military.

Of course it doesn't preclude the real Stryker from getting him anyways and going ahead with the Weapon-X program at a slightly later date. It could dove-tail into the Origins movie or take a different path since Logan of the era won't remember or know any of the events up to that point.

Besides, how long could Mystique pull off being Stryker and no one know it?

Whichever way they go with it I think it will still end up with Logan under the real Stryker's control.

I love how they "revealed" (kinda of) that Magneto restored the adamantium on Wolverine's claws... through a very very very subtle hint coming from 1973's Magneto. That was just pure genius.
