Sci-Fi The Abyss....rewatched

Love this movie.

In fact, I love every James Cameron movie except Avatar. And no, that's not trendy bandwagon jumping...

I'll give Avatar another chance before I watch Way of Water on D+ next year.

Definitely give it another chance, especially if it’s been a long time since you last saw it. It might hit you differently a second time around like it did for me.

I love this movie too. I discovered it very late, within this past decade and just absolutely loved both cuts of this movie. Definitely Cameron’s most underrated film.

4K version exists.

Unbeknownst to attendees (but later confirmed by festival programmers), the DCP presentation turned out to be the 4K transfer Cameron announced last year, physical and streaming versions of which he said were “out of his hands” but all work has long been completed. “All of the mastering is done and I think it drops pretty soon — a couple of months or something like that,” Cameron said in response to an audience question.

this is one of my all time fave of his films that is not part of his Terminator universe or a sequel to a film (Aliens). I have been hoping this and True Lies gets a proper HD release for years now.

Hope it will also release in France !
Annnd no : "The Abyss: Special Edition is playing in theaters for one-night-only on December 6"

Reactions: Dr.
I suppose UK regulations against “animal cruelty” in films is laudable. But any UK cinephile who wants a 4K copy of a 35-year-old movie is probably willing to import it — thus, bypassing the intent/spirit of the regulation.

BTW… according to reports, 5 rats were used for scene in question. All 5 survived and were given vet checkups afterwards.
